@Marmite71, they look really shapely with the lush silk shirt tucked in.

Marmite71 · 21/01/2022 18:26

Thank you all. @faustina, they’re the wool cotton ones, from the sale. I think I just need to get used to the dropped crotch thing (and ignore DH’s unhelpful ’MC Hammer’ comment)

TempleofZooom · 21/01/2022 18:35

Thats interesting to see the shape of those @Marmite71.
Im wondering if I did try on a faulty pair now, although they were the new ones.
The green check blouse is lovely, the price is because the fabric is hand loomed I think.
Not really sure I understand why you would have a hand loomed check though?
Its much the same as an ordinary check.
Thats sad abot JL.
It looks like a jumble sale in our local one now, so much tat crammed in.

billydilly · 21/01/2022 18:48

@Marmite71 you look beautiful in that blouse, really suits you.

I'm torn over the £££ green blouse now. My daughter actually looked up from her phone and said 'you look really nice in that mum' and that never, ever happens..

I think if its something you love and will get lots of wear out of then go for it!
I think its going to be one of the sellouts as its really lovely.
Also hand woven fabric will come in a limited amount.

Cracking up at the MC Hammer comment! 😂
ilovecherries · 21/01/2022 19:03

I think the trousers are great marmite. Biased though as I also have them, and that’s how I like them to fit me.

billydilly · 21/01/2022 19:33

Gah, I've only gone and bought it.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 21/01/2022 19:54

I think they look very nice @Marmite71 but I know what you mean about the feel of the dropped crotch.

My Gabi's do the dropped crotch thing, mostly I’m used to it now but sometimes I end up putting a belt on and hoicking them up.
I’ve got that shirt too, it looks really lovely on you, I must start wearing mine.

Marmite71 · 21/01/2022 20:02

Thank you for all the kind comments- I’m keeping the trews! It’s a lovely shirt too and I’m wearing it lots. I don’t think you’d know it was half silk from looking at it but it is soft and comfortable to wear and I think works well for every day although you could easily smarten it up

applecatchers36 · 21/01/2022 20:29

Agree that those Gabi's look good on you Marmite not too huge in photos and the PJ shirt is gorgeous great outfit!

Laska2Meryls · 21/01/2022 20:32

Billydilly it is fabulous, do please post a photo when it arrives...

Laska2Meryls · 21/01/2022 20:33

Yes I love the outfit too, Marmite . You look great in both the top and trousers..

Laska2Meryls · 21/01/2022 20:35

Late to the party, I should get the apple Aran cardi tomorrow... Who here kept theirs?

AmethystMoonShine · 21/01/2022 20:56

I did @Laska2Meryls, love it..but returned the chalk one as the colour drained me.

SmaugMum · 21/01/2022 21:43

Me too @Laska2Meryls, it is my favourite garment currently, so warm and soft, just right for this weather, and a joyous colour.

SmaugMum · 22/01/2022 00:06

Anyone here also of an age where they’re looking at the current Toast home page and reminiscing about watching Little House on the Prairie?! 🙈

AFingerofFudge · 22/01/2022 09:14

Absolutely @SmaugMum !

The double faced cotton pyjamas that I've been looking at in recent weeks that are a constant in their collection have just gone up from £99 to £115!

And there is a beautiful new pair of brick check pyjamas that I might have to buy at some point.

ToastCosILoveIt · 22/01/2022 11:54

Today I am all in Toast: the Jude trousers in in the greenish brown colour, a khaki half sleeved wool jumper with a gold thread running through it (from about three years ago) and the yellow neck scarf from the sale. I will probably wear the Novesta blue trainers or the solovair lace up shoes in the cordovan colour. Coatwise, I may depart from Toast although I have a long navy wool Toast coat from many years ago which may be right. I am flying the flag for us Toasties!

Laska2Meryls · 22/01/2022 14:53

Wow that apple green Aran cable cardigan is fabulous.... So glad that I ordered it..
Am keeping the slate wide legged trousers also ..

TheChattyRat · 22/01/2022 17:07

The Alix look nice on you Marmite and I love that shirt - which is it, I seem to have overlooked it.

And amazing dress Billydilly I like how you styled it with the big necklace and green dress. Very opulent. I would like to see a pic of the check shirt when you receive it as I like the look of that one too.

It was interesting to read how others style Toast, I think I have to 'feminise' it on me with jewellery etc though I love the austere 'workwear' sort of style they use in the styling videos and catalogue. I also think mixing Toast with unexpected things, like modern trainers, works. Seeing or hearing how everyone styles their Toast gives me ideas too - I bought one of the small bandanas off the back of this thread, which I wouldn't have thought to do.

And now I need some advice from you Toasties - the Sadie shirt and the seed shirt, I planned to only keep one but now I am not sure which / both / neither?? I do like the pattern and feel of the Seed but it is more oversized which I do not usually go for. Thoughts welcome

faustina · 22/01/2022 17:30

@TheChattyRat - I'm not really a shirt person, but I'd say, of the two, the darker check looks nicer on you

Wearing my silk bandana today (the green one) and it's been so cold I have resorted to double cashmere - jumper and cardigan. All I need is pearls I am literally my grandmother

NoCureForLove · 22/01/2022 17:34

I have both shirts Blush and wear them a lot - with denim / under a pinafore...
They are very different weight material. Can you talk yourself into keeping both? Smile

Countmeout · 22/01/2022 18:49

Great pictures everyone.
I have the Sadie, I chose it instead of the seed because it seemed to be paler online but it is quite blue @TheChattyRat. it’s very light weight but I thought that was a bonus as the weather warms up. Both look lovely. I don’t button them as I’d feel a bit constricted.
That dress with the big collar @SmaugMum I’m sure it’s from a film! Can’t think which one. I loved Little house on the prairie.

dudsville · 22/01/2022 19:51

@thechattyrat, I can't tell from the pics whether one suits you more than the other, they look like a similar fit and look nice. Do you prefer one over the other? I prefer a check, but you might prefer the stripe?

Today I'm in a toast cardi and striped vee, Thought cords (most comfortable and flattering thing ever!) And birkenstock chunky socks and clogs. I don't think this is "cool" but I'm very happy in it!
