Ah, ok mum.

Grasping · 18/01/2022 20:12

@LivingDeadGirlUK

I've actually got a few coats that I keep wishing had hoods, not sure this is the answer though. The pic of it in black where she is just wearing it over a jumper is hilarious :P
Probably just to show the item rather than a style idea. However, I doubt the striped bretton brigade would understand that.
LumosSolem · 18/01/2022 20:17

Yes a striped Breton looks soooo ridiculous compared to this- or is this just to show the item too?

Wtf, Cos? W. T. F.
Grasping · 18/01/2022 20:20

Oooops - touched a nerve Grin

SmashingBIouse · 18/01/2022 20:21

I have a sort of black knitted/faux fur trimmed version of this I bought years ago and I swear it's one of my best ever purchases. I wear it with all my non-hooded coats in winter - much cosier than a scarf and hat and keeps me dry if it rains or snows. I love mine!

LumosSolem · 18/01/2022 20:22

Lol no not really, the suggestion that it's better to look like a mash up of Kenny from South Park and an Anglo Saxon peasant that actually amused me 😂

Sort0f · 18/01/2022 20:23

Well a Breton would go lovely with those mum boots @LumosSolem

To be fair, I like a Breton to. But I do think it’s the attitude and style you wear it with.

Wear anything with an attitude that it’s ok to attack what other people are wearing and then take umbrage when others question your own style choices? Hideous whatever you pair it with.

Wear anything with an open minded attitude and it’s good.

Grasping · 18/01/2022 20:23

People who wear COS do not watch South Park Grin

LumosSolem · 18/01/2022 20:27

Because you sound soooo open minded and not judgemental at all of other peoples choices @Sort0f 😁

I'm sure they don't @Grasping, they're missing out 🤷‍♀️😁

Soontobe60 · 18/01/2022 20:32

@minipie

Model’s expression says it all.
If looks could kill… she’s fuming!
Grasping · 18/01/2022 20:35

Unlike ‘Boden Felicity’ who’s having such fun in the sand dunes Grin

LumosSolem · 18/01/2022 20:38

Out of interest, why is the assumption 'Bretons and boden' if someone dislikes whatever that orange thing actually is?

lumpofcomfort · 18/01/2022 20:40

Maybe it would be better in another colour but bright orange puffer hood does not look good with smart cream wool coat.

Surely if it's raining most people just wear a waterproof coat or if they must wear a woollen one on a wet day, they take an umbrella?

mum2jakie · 18/01/2022 20:44

Christ that looks awful 🤣

Well this is it as well isn't it- I can see that it could be practical and useful. Nothing wrong with either of those things. The black one under a black puffs coat that didn't have a hood already maybe. Although £55 seems utterly ridiculous.

But the orange one (and an orange hood is forever going to scream Kenny, isn't it) under a cream wool coat just looks try hard and ridiculous. The hood is useless as the wool coat will be soaked in rain.

If it's a trend, it's one that people will look back on and think wtf? Like many of the things I wore when growing in the late 90s/00s. Overplucked eyebrows, skirts over trousers, loads of blue eyeshadow, two stupid wispy bits of hair pulled out of a ridiculously tight ponytail. Butterfly hair clips everywhere. Trends- not good ones.

Lookingoutside · 18/01/2022 20:49

I actually like it. In black though, Cos. Not effing orange! Grin

Amelion · 18/01/2022 20:49

I think there’s sometimes this faux-shock on mumsnet with these not threads about ‘why on earth would someone wear this’ as if it’s truly shocking/horrendous/anyone’s business that some people choose to wear more let’s say adventurous or unusual clothes. It can make people who like Cos or whatever the clothes the thread was about feel a bit attacked.

I think the reaction and the reverse of this is the attack that if you don’t like something more out-there (which for what it’s worth, I don’t really think an orange hood is….) you must be a really boring dresser - insert Breton tee/skinny jeans etc to indicate this.

This thread got pretty nasty for no reason - why don’t we all agree that everyone likes to wear different stuff and surely that’s half the fun?

If you're carrying a lot of shopping/pushing a pram an umbrella isn't practical. That's why I love my detachable hood/scarf/thing!
Mundra · 18/01/2022 22:08

I really hate cos. I'm very petite, and it all looks ridiculous.

neveradullmoment99 · 18/01/2022 23:05

It looks like a life jacket underneath. So funny.

Grasping · 19/01/2022 06:59

I have the navy.
I don’t wear it for style, I wear it for practicality reasons and warmth. It’s great when I travel (minimises coat packing) and also for work. It’s incredibly useful!

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 19/01/2022 07:03

Love COS but they do have some crazy shit, you only have to look at their end of season sale for the left overs nobody would look good in, ever!

Bemoreme21 · 19/01/2022 09:37

I love this! Also hardly ever wear smart coats because of the lack of hood and i hate umbrellas. Thanks OP, i'm off to order one.

😂 you will love it

I agree.
I wouldn’t pay any attention whatsoever to people saying they don’t like it because it’s not their style.

I never go to River Island, New Look, Primark, Next, Dorothy Perkins and similar. Nor would I post on a thread about those shops because I’m neither a fan or their target market.

Thankfully we have a variety of shops so we can all choose what we enjoy wearing.
