What do the cool mums wear?

Following on from the Mum Boot of Trainers thread, I am wondering, what do the cool mums wear? Are there any brands or items of clothing that are considered 'cool' for school run mums?

Despite what some posters seemed to suggest, veja trainers seem to be part of that uniform.

Add in some sweaty betty leggings, an overrides black puffy coat and some designer sunglasses and you've got yourself a mum uniform.

I love it!! This is my go to!!

Julia is the cool one by far when it comes to personal style in S1

I am definitely Anne - I literally think I have that top.

I'd like to think I was Liz but I am definitely an Anne.

I have the clothes in my wardrobe to make me a Liz and I was 10 years ago. They're just 2 sizes to small right now. Maybe this'll be the year I'll get it back.

Liz’s clothes are just normal casual clothes aren’t they? I’d say most at our school are Liz, a couple of Julias and Amandas, and the ones going straight to an office job after drop off are Annes.

Same. I love that look (the comfort really appeals) but I just look scruffy and chubby!

Probably. But a lot of people do care, and it’s hard to make yourself not care if you do. I’m very envious of people who don’t care, I wish I was that self assured.

Yes! You have to be really slim to pull off the baggy trackie bottoms look. I think I'm a Liz, with the odd Ann day at work.

What makes a particular brand of trainers ‘cool’? Surely a white trainer is just that - a white trainer- does the same job whether they cost £10 or £100?

Jesus no.

My running trainers are defintely not cool. They are expensive but they stop my over pronation, protect my knees and hopefully the rest of my joints. Iwear them 3 times a week. They are worth the money. I'm not sure paying more money just because trainers are currently the right ones to be seen in, is worth it.

That's an interesting assumption, Peaches, what makes you think that? A different demographic to the school gate?

I've never seen the veja trainers at dd2 primary. Lots of vans and balenciagas though.

I live in fairly aspirational, middle-class new built commuter village in SE and Vejas are rare here. I love mine, have two pairs and both were comfortable to wear straight from the box. My feet are slightly wide though, not sure if it has anything to do with it.

If people are surprised by the expense of Veja, wait until you hear about Golden Goose which go for around £400 and are already dirty when you buy them!!!

I like Amanda's style in terms fo what she wears, not her mannerism of course but I think she looks 'cool'.

The retro Casio watches are cool though! They might not be a Rolex but Rolexes (sp?) aren’t cool imo (expensive doesn’t automatically equal cool in my book) 😊
