As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

I set myself some (fairly manageable but also quite optimistic) princessing goals for January and February. I have kept a list of my phone and I’m sticking to most of it so far. I’m not doing yoga five days a week though. My list is;

Keep nails painted daily
Yoga five days a week
Drink at least a pint of water or lemon water daily
Home IPL body once a week
New yoga outfit
Wear makeup most days
Apply toenail treatment twice a week
Blackhead strips monthly
Gratitude and affirmations daily
Shave face three times a week
Try on new glasses

I'm planning to make soup at least 1-2 a week to up the vegetable intake (and use up any random veg into the bargain)

I made vegetable soup tonight , there's a bit of oil to start the saute off but pretty much veg , water and stock (we're vegetarian except DS)

I bought some heavy duty lipbalm and handcream

Need to do a deep condition hair treatment tomorrow while I'm doddering about

I am late to the princessing party but resetting for February! Currently 7 months pregnant so some will come into effect postpartum...

  • Capsule wardrobe of lovely clothes that actually suit me and my lifestyle (have sold half my clothes and replaced thus month, space for some more key essentials but will keep a wishlist and shop for them a few months postpartum). Wear clothes that make me feel good instead of 'saving them'
  • Work out proper skincare, I am a standard facewash and moisturiser/spf in the morning woman at the moment, think I need an evening addition
  • Weekly DIY mani/pedi, dry brushing, eyebrow maintenance
  • Get back on top of lumea regime again postpartum
  • Keep up 2L minimum water + vitamins + healthy meal planning + no alcohol + pelvic floor exercises
  • Move every day, at the moment this is gentle yoga and a short walk but will commit to some home workout regime + weekly swimming post baby when I am ready. I did C25K in 2020 and lost so much weight and felt so fit but my knees aren't cut out for running!
  • Work out how on earth to style my hair?? I am really very hopeless with hair
  • Floss every day and try to get a dentist appointment
  • Minimise screen time and read everyday

I have a tracker in my bullet journal so hoping I can hold myself accountable, and will check back! Am on a tight budget which I think can make it harder. Would love to book in for an amazing haircut and balayage but sadly don't have the cash right now!

psuedocream3 · 30/01/2022 12:09

Morning everyone, hope you all are well and looking after yourselves.

@AlDanvers Still a bit poorly but getting there, thank you. I love Maria Tash's earring collection but it is very pricey being full gold and diamonds if you wish. A little too pricey for my modest budget but I have found if you don't mind gold plated silver, then Ana Luisa and Monica Vinader have alot of similar styles at a more reasonable cost.

Today I have done my roots, toned my hair back to ash blonde, a keratin blowdry treatment, and teeth whitening treatment at the same time.

January has been good, I feel I achieved most of what I wanted to this month. February will be carrying on my routines and hopefully there will be progress with the tretinoin and condition/length of hair. I think I will concentrate on my nails this month as they are a bit tatty, and tint my lashes and eyebrows, look into powder brows. Maybe start buying some bits from my clothing wishlist. I really need to practice some 'up do's' whilst my hair is growing out too.

shewhomustbeEbayed · 30/01/2022 14:03

Good afternoon ! A good opportunity to assess as coming to the end of January.
Am drinking litres of water as currently working from home.
Have successfully upped my plant intake and am really enjoying all the fresh fruit, veg, seeds etc
Have lost weight, not weighed myself but clothes are getting loose and have gone down a jeans size.
Am enjoying my Selfcare Sundays in which I wash and condition my hair, face mask, blow dry and full body moisturise to set me up for the week ( bought some Neutrogena body balm which is nice and thick )
Am doing nightly gratitude.
I used sunscreen instead of moisturiser as I was rushing out this morning, must try and use it daily.
I’m using my Beauty Pie products for a good skincare routine and have worn makeup a few times ( when visiting mum in hospital and seeing a friend for coffee yesterday ) also trying to dress better, have a few things coming from ebay !
Have found some nail conditioner which I must start using as both thumbs ( but no other fingers ) have deep furrows in them.
Have booked weekly hydro sessions as it’s me time and I notice the difference in my osteoarthritic knees.
@70isaLimitNotaTarget I’ve been enjoying veg soups too, I served with some pumpkin seeds and a pack of croutons left over from a caesar salad and the family very much enjoyed.
Keep up the good work everyone ! It is so encouraging to hear how everyone else is doing and their good ideas and I’ve just realised that with a big birthday in August it is the perfect time to put some effort in for me.

AlDanvers · 30/01/2022 19:09

Evening all. @psuedocream3 all those are lovely. MT is a little more than I want to spend but the are beautiful.

I could go mad on the MV site. Thank you.

I am in the office for the first time in 3 months tomorrow. Just a short visit. One meeting then going to dad's. He wants me and dbro to have POA so need to do the paperwork.

Also need to help him sort a will....so fun day Grin

My skin is so much better than it was a month ago. Drinking water is going well. Diet not so much but the weight is coming off. But slower. All in all I am more princessy than I was.

Also I think this is the longest I have kept up my skin care routine. Missed a few days but generally stuck to it. So that's win.

AnotherMansCause · 31/01/2022 10:07

I've been doing pretty well on the skincare routine recently, my face is definitely looking better for it. I have tricky skin - combination oily t-zone, gets dehydrated very easily in the wrong weather or if I'm ill, plus I react badly to various ingredients. But I seem to have nailed down a routine that works for the moment.

Feeling a bit sorry for myself, have a family funeral today, have been overdoing it on the chocolate a bit this week. Will try to start again re the healthy eating after it's over. Having lunch out afterwards (only 1 item on the menu I can have & it's not healthy!) but I've got a light tea sorted.

AnotherMansCause · 31/01/2022 10:15

@AlDanvers I've bought earrings from Braybrook & Britten before. Quite modern styles, mostly, & I seem to remember they came really quickly too.

BeanAnTae · 31/01/2022 14:53

May I join? I have turned my attention to getting myself sorted out now that Spring is here! I had a lovely scrub over the weekend and have ordered a Salux Japanese exfoliation towel. Need to turn attention to my nails.

I have had my Vitamin D tested and all is well there. And I'm doing squats and lunges - 5 at a time whenever I think of it to keep my form and I'm strengthening my wrists so that I can attempt push ups.

I think I'm in remedial measures across fitness and beauty Grin but I have to start somewhere!

BeanAnTae · 31/01/2022 15:00

Look up Megan Falconer AlDanvers - she's a silversmith local to me and I have two pairs of her silver earrings.

AnotherMansCause · 31/01/2022 16:47

Ooh - speaking of exfoliation towels - I have a Salux towel which I use every time I shower, & some Korean Italy towels which I use after a hot bath every couple of weeks - you'll need the large size. I definitely recommend you get the large size unless you have hands that are absolutely like a tiny doll. I have pretty small hands, I take a size 3 shoe, & can just about get my hands into my 9y/o DD's non-stretch ski mittens. However I find the normal size Italy towels to be inconveniently small.
The Salux towel is good for normal daily exfoliation, I rinse it through after every use & stick it through the wash frequently. I've had the same one on the go for ages. They are both excellent for exfoliation.

AlDanvers · 31/01/2022 19:03

Thank you @BeanAnTae and @AnotherMansCause for the recommendations. I now have a long list of earrings I want thanks to the recommendations here Grin

AlDanvers · 01/02/2022 06:48

Morning all. I hope you are well. Looking for another recommendation, if that's OK.

Looking for a moisturising eye cream. I got medik8 r-Retinoate in an Advent calandar but think I need something moisturising to use on a morning. Putting concealer on after the medik8 doesn't settle well. Think I will keep it for evenings only.

Thank you.

ImWandaAndTheseArentReal · 01/02/2022 23:10

Had a name change - it's the old reginaa!

@AlDanvers last week, I bought the boots ingredients retinol face cream and eye cream and the eye cream has been lovely so far and feels really nice! £7 each, but can only be used at night, not sure if that's something you'd be looking at? I used to use the Charlotte tilbury magic eye cream and that was nice too.

Ohh that sounds fab - £7 each! I am going to take a look at those! Thank you
psuedocream3 · 07/02/2022 13:54

Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing well.

Nothing new besides starting the tretinoin almost two weeks ago, my skin is much softer and brighter with the tret shine, definitely more sensitive too but no shedding or redness. Looking forward to when the fine lines disappear but I know that will take a few months of use.

I bought a new foundation from MAC after liking te sample sent, theres a code on their website for £9 off making it £20 and you get a free foundation dual end brush which I think is quite the bargain.

blackberriesaretheonlyfruit · 10/02/2022 14:19

I've been MIA. I've had covid since 28th January. All the good work I've done is undone and I look like the wicked witch of the west with Cruellas complexion ffs. I've barely the energy to shower. I've lost a stone though soon...

declutteringmymind · 10/02/2022 21:07

Hi all!

@psuedocream3 well done on finding a foundation you like. I've found when I am good with skincare, I need far less make up.

@blackberriesaretheonlyfruit hope you've recovered well. I had Covid over christmas and it's taken a while to get over it. Rest is the best princessing you can do.

I've lost half a stone so far. I've got a few nice dinners planned and some important meetings where formal dressing is required so looking forward to the possibility of a larger choice of clothes from my wardrobe.

Ive turned into a bit of a hermit recently which has demotivated me.

Aims for this month are to whiten teeth and start body brushing. And lose some more weight.

Boppertini · 11/02/2022 14:23

Okay gang, I’m joining! Thanks for the inspiration. My “end date” is June as I’ve got a wedding to attend then.
I need to:

  • get a grip with my diet. Had a baby a year ago and got away with a lot of snacking as I was breastfeeding. Not working for me anymore so I’m thinking of starting by replacing chocolate and crisps with fruit and yoghurt, and then reducing the snacks overall.
  • reduce amount of gluten as it gives me bad skin
  • take my vitamins
  • use my face mask 2x week (drunk elephant baby facial)
  • big walk with pram once a day
  • update wardrobe to fit me (I have nothing to wear when not on baby duty..)
  • find the perfect dress for the event
psuedocream3 · 13/02/2022 15:25

This week has been a little better. I have lost another 1lb, 13lbs left to lose until my target weight. I toned my hair back to light ash blonde as it was yellowing, and did a keratin straight treatment ahead of Valentine's tomorrow. Nothing special planned but it's nice to dress up and feel put together, I think we are cooking dinner together and eating at a table if the youngest sleeps and lets us Blush

foxlover47 · 14/02/2022 11:22

U@psuedocream3 may I ask what toner you use ? I need to do this I usually put a ash blonde all over dye

foxlover47 · 14/02/2022 11:23

Have to say I've been failing big time , aside from shaving my legs etc

psuedocream3 · 14/02/2022 13:50

@foxlover47 To tone, I use Wella Illumina Coloring 10/69 mixed equal parts with Wella Welloxen Perfect Peroxide Developer 6%, then maintain with OSMO Super Silver No Yellow Shampoo.

foxlover47 · 14/02/2022 21:36

@psuedocream3 thank you so much :)

psuedocream3 · 16/02/2022 18:21

Quick update here, done dentist and opticians this week. The lovely dentist thought my youngest was my first child and was shocked and said I didn't look tired enough to have more children. I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not but maybe the skincare is working Grin

I also had an impromptu ear piercing visit, they only allowed me to have four done, lobes and daith, and give the others time to heal before I have the conch and flat done. Had the daith first and oh my goodness wasn't expecting so much pain Confused and didn't realise can take up to 9 months to heal. Plenty of time to save up for some Maria Tash earrings then!

Hope everyone's week is going well Flowers
