As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

princessing fail today. Its so bloody cold I've been wearing my oodie PLUS a blanket PLUS having the heating on. I look like an old woman.

It has been absolutely freezing and it is definitely not the season for wearing any dresses and pretty clothes, it’s all about warmth and comfort. But I have braided my hair instead of having it in a messy bun. Also decided to wear my stylish glasses for a change (even though dh doesn’t like them. He calls them my granny glasses)
Diet has gone well the last 2 days though, and now I’m off to my weekly dance class. I’m embracing the confident positive attitude I am feeling today.
Need to try this tightlining though so need to look for a new pencil eyeliner. Would love recommendations

@Sunshinedreaming2022 Victoria Beckham eyeliner is fab

SydneyCarton · 06/01/2022 19:00

You will prise my Rimmel Soft Kohl kajal eyeliner from my cold dead hands Grin

psuedocream3 · 06/01/2022 20:05

It is so cold isn't it!

So far I have:
- ordered skincare (mostly Decleor as I know this works well for my skin)
- ordered haircare (phillip kingsley elasticizer, moroccan oil)
- ordered keratin straightening treatment
- ordered supplements (viviscal)
- downloaded myfitnesspal to track calories and nutrients (I am lacking vitiman A in my diet!)

Nothing is due for delivery until early next week so this weekend I'm planning to sort my wardobe out, see what outfits I can put together and make a shopping list for the missing bits. Ihave ordered a few bits from vinted and the sales which I think covers most of the gaps, it may be more accessories that are needed for a more finished, put together, look. I also need to sort my makeup out and make a to order list. I could do with learning some new updo hairstyles too.

@CleanQueen123

Speaking of tight lining, can anyone recommend an eye liner? The ones I choose either seem to be too hard and just scratch my eye without transferring colour or too soft and I end up with lumps of it between my lashes.
I used Charlotte tilbury because its the only one I have, but was going to ask if anyone could recommend one. Or maybe a brush.

@heelforheelandtoefortoe I live in my oodies while wfh. I think we can be a princess under the oodie Grin I am 100% certain Kate definitely has an oodie.

I bought the Charlotte tilbury Hollywood filter and I think I am going to have to give up with it. But hate waste.

I was assured by MN and the CT counter I could use like a tinted moisturiser.

I don't know if I am too old (39) but no matter what I do I look like I just covered my face in highlighter powder. 🙄

Thanks to tight lining I have cracked barely there eyes. But my skin looks so over done.

My skin is fairly good. But, it seems to highlight fine lines. Even with great skin care underneath.

I am have loads of freckles, so don't wear anything too heavy. I am dark under my eyes so if I wear nothing I can't get my concealer to blend in.

Anyone have any recommdatiosn for a light foundation or tinted moisturiser?

Any night care regime on the cards to pull it back today?

Leave in conditioner treatment? Cleanser. Face oil,
Foot cream

Something!

Carriemac · 06/01/2022 22:07

Is there a link for 'tight lining'

AlDanvers · 06/01/2022 22:16

I used this one but watched a few videos too. But I found this one most helpful

I use BareMinerals Complexion Rescue - good spf, light coverage but tones the red down, doesn't sit in lines, oil free, doesn't clog skin or feel like I am wearing makeup. I do powder my nose/T zone with Boots No 7 face powder that is a CT dupe and it stays and gives a poreless look. Can recommend highly but low on Bare Minerals now and seriously thinking of giving the Nars tinted moisturiser that Ruth Crilly was recommending just for a change. Has anyone tried it?

In other news, currently doing a trial of Noom and 2 pounds down. Hurrah! Also going to start to listen to the virtual gastric band hypnosis on my phone again. I am a stress/comfort eater so it is all about the psych stuff for me but happy I have started to make a dent. Also treated myself to a lively new Osprey purse in a pretty coral colour (not what I would normally go for) and a new camerabag style cross body bag so I look snd feel a bit smarter out and about even if it is only to thd supermarket and back!

pinkpapaya · 07/01/2022 00:34

Congratulations @ReginaaPhalange. I hope you are having the most marvellous time with your new arrival 🥰👶👶🏼

AnotherMansCause · 07/01/2022 08:14

I'm currently having a pineapple, cucumber & ginger smoothie for breakfast. Needs more pineapple and/or a bit less ginger. But it's good.

ReginaaPhalange · 07/01/2022 10:37

@pinkpapaya thank you :) a shock to the system - first night at home and wow, emotions were certainly high!

Deathraystare · 07/01/2022 10:43

Easing myself very gently into this. As with new year's resolutions as I am a January baby!

I have found myself wearing less make up, mainly due to using Erborian BB cream and being so shocked that that is all I need! No foundation and I haven't bothered with concealer either! I have it in Nude (winter) and Dore (Summer). I suppose now is the time to 'streamline' but it is bloody hard! I am rather pleased that at 62, when I wear my bb cream my skin looks good. I rarely get a breakout now and only have wrinkles around my eyes and the beginning of 'marionette' lines. Of course it helps that I have lots of natural padding!!!

I recently had Covid so have lost a few (necessary) pounds but must take myself in hand now. I need to get my roots done as my golden brown hair is showing some silver grey through. I also need to step up on hydrating my hair as it feels like a brillo pad.

I have got around to wearing more colourful clothes (i.e. not black all the time which does not suit me anyway), but am trying not to go too far (the children's presenter look!)

Booksandwine80 · 07/01/2022 16:11

I hope everyone has had a good week! @ReginaaPhalange I hope you are enjoying those baby snuggles!

Have done lots of walking this week, still sticking to dry January-pretty sure my skin looks better!

Have just worn jeans and T-shirt today but have worn lipstick and jewellery. I’m making sure that every day I do something for me, even if it’s just a cup of tea in peace Grin

AlDanvers · 07/01/2022 16:27

@pinkpapaya thank you. I will take a look x

shewhomustbeEbayed · 08/01/2022 09:33

My 93 yr old mum’s in hospital and I’m finding visiting her, worrying and sorting everything out exhausting.
Have bought a long handled, soft bristled brush off Amazon and started dry bodybrushing this morning to wake me up.
When I get back later I intend to treat myself to a hair wash and the Beauty Pie sheet mask I treated myself to.
Good luck to everyone out there going through a hard time, treat yourself to a bit of me time. 💐

declutteringmymind · 08/01/2022 09:43

@shewhomustbeEbayed Life can be rough can't it? And you're right, self care is so important. Just do what you can. Just keeping hydrated, stretching while in the relatives' chair or doing some crochet or cross stitching counts towards processing in those circumstances I should think. Also when things get overwhelming, slow your breathing right down, and call for help.

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 08/01/2022 09:58

@shewhomustbeEbayed I’m sorry to hear about your mum Flowers try and be gentle on yourself, but I hope you enjoy your sheet mask and taking just half hour for yourself.
I feel like I’ve spent all week rushing around after the dc that today I’m just going to take it real slow and easy, hopefully paint my nails and also do a sheet mask.

Booksandwine80 · 08/01/2022 10:36

@shewhomustbeEbayed I hope your mum is soon on the mend.

I’m meeting a friend at soft play this morning, so it’s joggers and T-shirt-but I’ve blow dried my hair and put on some make up Grin

PatienceOfEngels · 08/01/2022 14:57

I've managed to stay on track with yoga every day and avoiding snacking in the evening. Drinking more water and mint tea to avoid eating is helping too.

Whacked on a face mask after my shower the other day (have so many to use up) and body lotion (ditto).

Not doing so well with getting outside/steps but happy with the above.

shewhomustbeEbayed · 08/01/2022 15:06

Thank you to declutteringmymind, Booksandwine80, Sunshinedreaming2022 for your kind comments, I was really touched.

Am back from visiting my mum, she seemed more aware than yesterday which was good, I find trying to be encouraging while I’m with her and then coming home and disseminating all the info to friends and family exhausting ( as I’m the only visitor allowed at present ) will take it slow and look after myself or I’ll be no good to anyone.
Reading all the useful advice with interest.

AlDanvers · 08/01/2022 17:51

@shewhomustbeEbayed I am sorry about your mum. You are doing fabulously. Flowers

flumposie · 09/01/2022 00:43

Joining in! I need to lose 1 and half stone that I originally lost in 2018. Put it back on since the first lockdown due to emotional eating/ series of things happening with elderly parents. Now I'm just fed up that I have loads of lovely clothes I've but unable to wear for almost 2 years. So the exercise needs to start again, plus my use of my fitness pal . Back on the vitamins and water too!

1positivity · 09/01/2022 08:16
