As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

I've lost 3.5lbs this week :)

I've also booked myself in for eyebrow and eyelash shape and tint and for gel nails.

I also bought myself a face mask.

@shewhomustbeEbayed Sending good wishes for your mum, if my mum is ill it makes me really edgy in a way I cant explain - its really unsettling . Take care of yourself.
@heelforheelandtoefortoe well done on the weight loss that's significant and you'll feel the difference in your clothes.

vjg13 · 09/01/2022 10:28

@shewhomustbeEbayed Try to take a little bit of time to yourself even 5 mins with a guided meditation lying with your eyes closed can help. My husband was in a serious accident last year and I found dealing with other people and the progress reports as tiring as the caring. He is well now thankfully but it seems to have left me in constant fight or flight mode.

I've done ok this week on self care, less well on the evening snacking and only tried 1 yoga session. Blush very much a work in progress!

psuedocream3 · 09/01/2022 11:01

@shewhomustbeEbayed Sorry to hear about your Mum, keeping you both in my thoughts. I hope you enjoyed your face mask Flowers

Well done on the weightloss @heelforheelandtoefortoe, that's brilliant.

I've started my new skincare routine, I think my makeup sits much better with the serum included or my skin is visibly better and I don't really need foundation. Either way, I'm happy and will continue as it feels a little bit luxurious pampering myself, very self indulgent.

I have ordered some clothes from Vinted for a fraction of the cost I would have paid for new, happy with my wardrobe for now, I have a coat I ordered that I don't 'love' so that will go back. I am also considering a Stitch Fix subscription. £10 a month for a bit of me time and to try on some new items.

Today haircare stuff arrives, shall sort it ready for next week, and need to do my nails. Kept up with all the changes so far but need to get some exercise in my routine and stop eating chocolate - my weakness!

shewhomustbeEbayed · 09/01/2022 13:25

@Carriemac thank you for your kind thoughts, you are so right about feeling unsettled, I was shopping and suddenly felt like crying.
I treated myself to the Filorga NCEF night mask as I found it at a bargain price and it’s supposed to be revitalising ( if you are missing sleep etc ) even good around the eye area, I’ll feed back.
@vjg13 thank you for your thoughts and advice, I am glad your husband is now better, hopefully you will be able to settle back down soon.
@psuedocream3 thank you for thinking of us, seeing her yesterday and willing her to get better really took it out of me. I didn’t get round to the face mask but have just had a healthy lunch of salmon salad ( good Omega for my OA knees ) have an afternoon of hair washing and mask wearing planned as have given myself the day off visiting today, spoke to ward this morning.
I am only wearing clothes that flatter me after my clearout, a new top came from ebay yesterday which I’m very pleased about.
I feel so touched by the support I am getting from this lovely community !

AlDanvers · 09/01/2022 20:37

@shewhomustbeEbayed you are doing so well. You are so strong and inspiring me to be stronger with things I am dealing with.

I am dreading work again. I have loads to do, but can't concentrate. It issues seem to really piss me off and provoke a very non princessy reactions 🤦‍♀️

But I have showered and body moisturisered everyday. Wore make up everyday, done my skin care morning and night.

My lovely Aunty, who lives abroad for half the year and came back as soon as I called her about mum, is going back abroad this week. I am dreading it, she has been a huge support. But we are having coffee on Tuesday before she goes.

Instead of being devastated she is going, I am using this to spur me on to sorting my diet and exercise. Then the next time she is back, she may a big change. So that's my next big step.

shewhomustbeEbayed · 09/01/2022 22:29

@AlDanvers what a positive way of approaching your aunty leaving, you are so inspiring to me !
I know what you mean it is hard to deal with what seem like petty things when you have been dealing with life changing situations.
I’m sure even Princesses get peeved, lol !
Well done on keeping to a good routine, apparently you need to do something 21 times for it to become a habit. Take care.

Monsoon92 · 09/01/2022 23:15

Love reading this thread, it's so inspiring! I've lost a couple of pounds this week, and have done some exercise every day. I'm fasting from 8pm-8am every day, so no evening snacks, which is hard but has to be done! Next week I'll focus on getting more fruit and veg (pulling the nutribullet out of hiding!) and little things like making sure I'm wearing jewellery every day and my nails are painted nicely. Good luck for the second week!

Booksandwine80 · 10/01/2022 07:30

Feel like crying this morning, got on the scales even though I was going to stop weighing myself and go by clothes/how I feel. A stone has crept on over the last few months 😩😢

Lupinspotato · 10/01/2022 08:32

Sounds like some of you are going through really challenging times. Well done foe being so strong and remember to prioritise yourselves too.

I’ve been keeping to the diet so far, looking after hands, feet and nails and doing TOMM. I’ve been doing some form of exercise a day but really need to up my steps.

I‘m looking at skincare this week. I think my morning routine is ok, just need to work out my evening routine as I want to start retinol. This thread has been really useful for ideas already.

Take care all.

AnotherMansCause · 10/01/2022 14:14

Inspired by the thread over Christmas about planners/diaries, I bought myself one (not an expensive one, just a normal one from Whsmith). But it's still a departure for me, I've not had a diary for several years, & even before that it was a tiny pocket sized one, just for writing down my work shifts & any doctor appointments. I'm going to start recording my meal planning (in an effort to identify what foods do/don't trigger my migraines), & so that I can make a meal plan & stick to it rather than just copping out because I've not planned ahead. Also I'm doing a habit tracker that I saw somewhere, it's just a chart so I can mentally motivate myself to drink more water, do proper skincare twice a day, go to bed at a sensible time, etc. A bit like this but more rustic, as I've just drawn it in myself on the notes pages in the back of the diary.

In another departure, I bought makeup this weekend. I haven't worn makeup in years! Aside from the occasional dab of concealer if I had a really bad spot. I bought mascara, eyeliner, & eyeshadow. I have an unopened lipstick that I'll probably use when my lips decide they will stop cracking in this cold weather. ATM it's lip balm all the way...

snackodactyl · 11/01/2022 09:29

just sharing my approach if it can offer any tips. i’ve been more a work in progress for the last few years and this year will be about bringing all that home. built a good foundation with:

  • getting my hair coloured and cut regularly for at least 5 years now. i love greys but i look tired more than old with them
  • adopted a skincare routine after discovering Caroline Hirons - only to run away when pricey products got shoved down my throat every 5 seconds. it’s not highly rated as much now but over 5 years of consistent use of Pixi Glow Tonic has reduced sebaceous filaments considerably!
  • did a VLCD last year to finish off the long standing weight issues, now am maintaining thru diet (moderation) and exercise (gym and spin bike)

speaking of consistent, i have set up daily and weekly reminders for:

  • nuface
  • slendertone
  • retinol twice a week
  • home IPL touch ups

slowly reintroducing makeup even though i love not wearing it so much these days. but even i can appreciate the difference it makes.

snackodactyl · 12/01/2022 17:07

No really I was wondering if I had this special ability to kill a thread dead with my contributions and I’m starting to think it might be true Blush

AlDanvers · 12/01/2022 17:12

Oh hello. I couldn't find the thread.

You didn't kill it. Thank you for bumping it Grin

psuedocream3 · 12/01/2022 18:23

I'm still here too Smile

Kept up with all changes so far. Almost fainted at the dentists quote for teeth whitening at £500 Shock so bought the syringes from previous dentist for £65 instead. I also used the last of my Christmas gift voucher to buy the MAC lipstick vault, 12 lipsticks one for every month so no excuses not to experiment more.

I need to introduce some excercise - any ideas very welcomed! I think I could do with switching my morning coffee for a smoothie instead. And maybe look into an at home gel nail kit.

AlDanvers · 12/01/2022 19:04

I am keeping up with all the skin care. But honestly the eating well is going terribly.

By 2pm I end up crying into a bar of chocolate 🙄

declutteringmymind · 12/01/2022 20:27

Hi all

So.... I've lost a few pounds but everything else has gone to pot. Skincare is good but I need a bloody good groom.

The thing is I've not got much on at the moment socially and work is very unglamorous so it's been easy to let things slide.

I'm still recovering from Covid so still exhausted.

So I've made a plan to get my eyebrows threaded next week, and defuzz myself tomorrow with a full body scrub too, and paint my nails at the weekend, and blow dry or straighten my hair as I'm having lunch put on Friday.

Wish me luck!

Well done on your weight loss. I could have written this post. Except for the weight loss part! Everything has gone to pot, need to get refocused!

batmanladybird · 13/01/2022 09:10

Hello. I have had a very slow start to 2022 but could prob do with some princessing
So posting on here for inspo

AlDanvers · 13/01/2022 09:24

Good morning All.

Really didn't feel up to doing anything this morning. But i forced myself. Feel better for it.

I am starting to eat healthier today. Even if it's not all perfect. Trying to get to a perfect diet just isn't working. So first steps are getting in more fruit and veg and drinking water.
They are w things I can do.

My aunts plane is about to take off. So today is a good day to start. See what difference she sees in 11 weeks.

Keke94LND · 13/01/2022 13:52

I'm joining! I've felt so crap about myself got the past 3/4 years and I used to be so so confident in how I look, fed up of feeling this way so going to start making the effort!

I've started back at the gym
Am growing my hair again and taking really good care of it
Eating well
I have a gel nail kit so have done my nails
Kept on top of my brows
I went and got a pedicure
Started using retinol
Wear sun cream on face everyday
Planning on creating a capsule wardrobe
Trying to do one new thing a week to help combat my social anxiety!

AlDanvers · 14/01/2022 05:18

@Keke94LND hi and welcome. I had an early night last night. Skin Carr and shower done this morning. Just having a coffee then our my make up on.

Going to look at a potential house today. Don't think it will be the right one tbh. It's a new build, I am just going to see the style. For potential purchase at the end of the year when more are released. But I do like going round show houses.

Eating yesterday was a lot better than usual. Did have a treat, but ate well most of the day and drank 2 litre of water. So it's an improvement.

Does anyone have a recommendation for eye cream. My eyes are bad for lines. But underneath is a bit 'crepey' and concealer always highlights it. Someone recommended Chantecaille concealer, but it's so expensive for such a tint amount, I would rather tackle the actual issue. If yiu see what I mean.

Hope everyone else is well.

Eesha · 14/01/2022 06:44

I've been keeping up with regular colours rather than dragging it out as long as possible. Taking out my delicious sourdough bread from my diet has also helped my stomach feel much flatter, now eating scrambled egg mix and avocado daily.

Must drink more water, just 1l a day and it needs to be 3L.

SpideySenseTingles · 14/01/2022 09:11

Well, I started on this thread with good intentions but then got consumed by some uni deadlines and dropped off.

But all assignments are up to date and I want to focus on me now.

Finally weighed myself this morning. 11st4 and I'm 5ft3. It's time to lose some weight. I'm going to just focus on losing 1lb at a time, eating less junk and try to do 20 minutes of some form of exercise each day

Some improvements I've made over last 2 weeks:
Morning prayer and meditation
Coloured hair
Sorted the lip hair out
Started sorting out house clutter. Donated a big bag of DDs clothes this week.

blackberriesaretheonlyfruit · 14/01/2022 13:51

Dermaplaining and eyebrows booked for next week.
