TOAST

Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

Thank you Saurus and Alsohuman - it is and does!

CharlesChickens · 22/06/2020 16:43

I have name changed as don’t want Toast to identify me, but I have just had terrible customer service from them. Last week I paid extra for next day delivery. I had an email that the package would be with me on Thursday, no sign of it. Friday it was allegedly out for delivery, did not arrive. Same for Saturday. I emailed them yesterday and have had a response that my address takes longer, first I have ever heard of this. I asked them to refund the extra postage I paid, they have refused ! I have been a customer for over twenty years !!

Laska2Meryls · 22/06/2020 16:50

Really Charles? Are you offshore?
I live on Isle of Wight ( so extra stage as the parcels have to come over on ferry ) and I have often had ordinary PO parcels next working day here when they are working normally ,.. I once had courier as wanted something before I left for holiday and it was at our depot in hours! (I did go and collect as was leaving that afternoon)

CharlesChickens · 22/06/2020 16:55

No, I am Wales ! Not even Snowdonia ! I am not all that far from the bloody Toast shop !

CharlesChickens · 22/06/2020 16:56

I am so angry I am sending everything back that I haven’t worn. I’ve spent hundreds of pounds.

Alsohuman · 22/06/2020 17:02

I can’t believe they’re refusing to refund the postage charge when you haven’t got what you paid for. They might change their mind if you put them on Twitter.

Floisme · 22/06/2020 17:04

Sorry to hear that Charles - sounds very poor. I would definitely escalate it.

Laska2Meryls · 22/06/2020 17:08

Charles That is just crazy .... really bad service

HieronymusBoschLAPD · 22/06/2020 17:09

That's terrible @CharlesChickens !! We live somewhere that's always on the list of 'difficult' addresses to deliver to and no courier will ever offer a next day (or even 2 day) service to us etc. However, anytime we have paid for a postage service, not received it in the time promised and we've complained, we've always had it refunded. When you've gone to the trouble of paying for quicker postage, it tends to be an expensive purchase so the cost of refunding the postage is a drop in the ocean for the company, so I'm amazed Toast are being so difficult, it seems so petty. Plus, surely they'd reclaim it back from whoever it was shipped with for not delivering what they agreed to?

Have you bought anything full price? Otherwise you'll have to pay to return it, too.

@Saurus72 Thank you! I'll keep an eye out for any that pop up....

AmethystMoonShine · 22/06/2020 17:20

That is rubbish @CharlesChickens Angry
Not very Toastlike!

Got my three dresses today, the denim v neck fits well in the 10, mainly because I’ve got such broad shoulders & back. Keeper.
The Kala is really bright and I think a keeper in the 12, a 10would have been too tight across my shoulders/back, it looks nice worn over the denim v neck actually.
The green coat dress.... well, OMG... it’s a thing of beauty! I bought as a coat, for which it is fab but it comes into its own as a dress. I understand whoever said it was ‘sexy’ with the sleeves rolled up and collar open. My goodness it’s now my favourite Toast item. Worth even 125 pounds and I don’t say that lightly!

CharlesChickens · 22/06/2020 17:41

This is not the first time I have had less than optimal customer service from Toast.
All sale items, so I will have to pay to return it you say ? Even more annoying. I have had Next day deliveries this week from the same delivery company , DHL, so it makes no sense. Also makes even less sense to make a long term customer angry for the sake of three or four pounds. Boden would have given an instant refund without me asking, ditto LandsEnd, both have excellent customer service. Even Amazon refunded me and gave me a five pounds voucher on top last time I had to call customer service, for being such a “good customer” .

Alsohuman · 22/06/2020 17:50

A tweet usually sorts this sort of thing out.

New thread we were running out.

Countmeout · 22/06/2020 17:52

Sorry if slightly soon

CharlesChickens · 22/06/2020 17:58

Have tweeted so we will see what the response is. Years ago I would have just grumbled to friends, but I am fed up of giving my cash to companies who then treat me badly.

Floisme · 22/06/2020 17:59

You're absolutely right to complain.

CharlesChickens · 22/06/2020 18:08

Well they have refunded me now, but it took several emails. Not great.

Countmeout · 22/06/2020 19:03

Glad all sorted . DHL has been quite slow recently, I got notification a JL parcel would be delivered last Tuesday but it didn’t arrive until Thursday.
I just pay the £3 Toast delivery at the moment and never expect it quickly ( plane or boat involved for me too)

Alsohuman · 22/06/2020 19:14

Glad you got your refund. It’s a real pain that it took so much to get it. Toast will get the money back in any case.

Moominmammaatsea · 22/06/2020 19:49

Glad you got your refund sorted, CharlesChickens. I’ve always had very good customer service from Toast but I contacted them recently to query why my PostPass wasn’t working and I got the impression their customer service had been outsourced offshore; two weeks on, I’m still waiting for a response. In the end, I ordered the Paraboot shoes I wanted and paid the £3 delivery.

It probably sounds disproportionately tight to resent paying £3 for delivery but a) I’m a Yorkshire lass so I hate paying over the odds for things and b) if I’m spending over £100 on anything (and the Paraboot shoes are still really expensive even when discounted) I really think delivery should be included.

My JL bargain Kala dress arrived today and I’m extremely pleased that I’ve been motivated by this thread to try new and different styles and push myself out of my style comfort zone. I absolutely love the print and I think I can make it work for me (I have a weird thing about exposing my décolletage) by layering it over a boy linen T-shirt (craving one in a zingy orange now) or wearing it under a navy John Smedley sea island cotton cardigan. Thanks for the inspiration, Toasties!

Moominmammaatsea · 22/06/2020 20:08

@Saurus72 that dress looks fantastic on you; it looks really droopy on the model but you do it justice and I much prefer it styled with your wedges. @Alsohuman well done on snaffling your bargain jacket - I wonder if there was a (lucky for you) pricing glitch as that would appear to be new-new in. @AmethystMoonShine so pleased you like the cotton linen coat dress, it is beautiful, isn’t it? That and the Ivar jacket have been my favourite purchases in recent months/years (time has become a lockdown blur) and will definitely punch far above their respective weights in my wardrobe for years to come.

Countmeout · 22/06/2020 20:55

What is a Post pass @Moominmammaatsea?

Moominmammaatsea · 22/06/2020 21:04

@Countmeout, it’s an annual pass that you (now) pay, I think, £20 for and you get as many free Royal Mail Express deliveries and returns as you need/can use in a year. It magically appeared in my Toast account one day and it has been a really lovely treat (that has probably encouraged me to spend more than I should as I have a psychological block about paying for delivery and returns). I think someone else (maybe SirVix?) mentioned they’d also been gifted one for being a loyal, long-time customer). I’m old enough to have owned the velvet bootleg trousers mentioned in the reminiscence posting and I reckon that Toast occupies about 85 per cent of my wardrobe space.

SirVixofVixHall · 22/06/2020 21:10

The Kindred post pass thing has finished now, and you need to pay an annual fee to get it.
