Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

@AmethystMoonShine, I really hope you like the coat dress; I’m feeling a sense of responsibility here! Now, the v-neck dress was the only sale purchase I couldn’t get along with and it will definitely be returning to JL as soon as I can face the Post Office queues (size 10 if anyone is hankering after one).

Moominmammaatsea · 19/06/2020 20:38

@Saurus72

Wishywashy- it isn’t cheap! I’d say it’s perfect for people who know their style, know exactly what they wear most, and want good quality versions of them. The quality is outstanding.
@Saurus72, I think you should pitch your explanation as a Toast mission statement to its marketing department. It sums the brand up to a T.
AmethystMoonShine · 19/06/2020 20:42

@Moominmammaatsea it’s a 10 I’ve ordered in the v neck denim dress! I want to be able to get a decent thickness of top under it and I’m broad of back so hope the ten will be good as lots are saying it’s generous on top.
Fingers crossed but it’s the coat dress I’ve now got highest hopes for Grin

Saurus72 · 19/06/2020 21:47

@Moominmammaatsea Ha! Well, I do brand marketing and have wondered what working for Toast would be like 😊

houseforanartlover · 19/06/2020 22:38

Bah, the Crosshatch dress looks like a 1930s dressing gown on me, so back it goes! Still got an Ikat skirt coming though...

SirVixofVixHall · 19/06/2020 22:45

Haha yes, it does have a dressing gown look. It is the shiny fabric combined with the little shawl collar. I am keeping mine though,

You say that like it’s a bad thing?! 🤷‍♀️😁 The thought crossed my mind too when I tried on mine too but I decided that I rather liked that idea 😁 I’m in two minds about the Ikat skirt. I absolutely love it but I’m worried it’s a bit big...

All we need is a cigarette holder and Cary Grant/Humphrey Bogart. It has a certain Katherine Hepburn appeal! 😆
Laska2Meryls · 20/06/2020 08:55

An Ollie shirt fell into my basket this morning, gingham one, missed getting one previously, and hopefully it will be ok. I have the striped one from last year's sale
My workwear dress should be here on Monday Smile

ilovecherries · 20/06/2020 09:44

Did the bag fall back in as well, laska?

Laska2Meryls · 20/06/2020 12:37

Not yet... I am still holding out for a further reduction....

Railingsohno · 20/06/2020 12:41

Really want that Ikat skirt in an 8, let me know if you see it pretty please!!!

Countmeout · 20/06/2020 13:24

Yes think the smaller size would be better @Railings . Hope it turns up

Ponks · 20/06/2020 15:19

I just want to thank the previous posters on this thread for the tips about John Lewis price matching - never realised you could apply for a part refund if they subsequently reduce the price of an item. Have submitted a claim (non Toast I'm afraid) so fingers crossed.

Moominmammaatsea · 20/06/2020 15:26

Just to give everyone the heads up that Toast garments keep popping back into stock on the JL website; I’ve just ordered the Kado dress in a size 12 (normally a 10/12) as I plan to wear a T-shirt underneath it. Can anyone who has the Kado tell me if this would work?

Saurus72 · 20/06/2020 15:26

I ordered (and returned) the Anokhi dress in my usual Toast size a few months ago when it was 30% off. The fabric is seriously beautiful but it just drowned me. Have been stalking it and on JL website during sale, and just ordered in size 12 (just came back into stock) at 70% off. Tbh though the order has gone through am convinced they will email back to say ‘sorry, we couldn’t find it after all’ 😬. Really hope I get it and it fits because it will be a brilliant Spring to Autumn dress. www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+dresses+and+tunics/c1ndg/anokhi+block+print+cotton+dress.htm

Saurus72 · 20/06/2020 15:27

Also to add - the joy of having somewhere to share this victory is so lovely!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 20/06/2020 15:55

@saurus I returned that dress in a 12! It was sadly too big otherwise I would have kept it. I like to think I sent the same one to you Grin

Saurus72 · 20/06/2020 16:11

Ah, well there was just one, in a size 12 on the JL website so chances are it’s from you! Very hopeful it works out as I love the fabric so much. Envisaging it with tights, ankle boots and a denim jacket in September 😉

paintedwolf · 20/06/2020 16:24

I have the kado dress and it is snug in the bodice area but yes if you have sized up should be ok to fit a t shirt underneath. It is a gorgeous dress and I am waiting for it to get warmer so I can wear it, at the moment I just admire it hanging in my wardrobe.

Moominmammaatsea · 20/06/2020 16:30

@paintedwolf, thanks, I’m confident now having also read the reviews on the Toast website about the bodice being snug, that the 12 will work. I’ve read that we’re due a heatwave next so fingers crossed your a Kado gets an outing!

Railingsohno · 20/06/2020 16:55

I tried in the workwear dresses again and I feel like a really cool art teacher in them. 😁 the fabric reminds me of my dad’s boiler suit that he always wore. My husband also surprised me by saying he like it (normally he prefers more feminine figure enhancing clothes 🤷‍♀️ I had it unbuttoned this time with a v neck t shirt under and it was lovely.

That’s beautiful- great spot!

Countmeout · 20/06/2020 17:42

I have the Kado. For me it’s probably a holiday dress as I feel too naked and old over here. However I have worn it with a thin Zara jumper over it and am pleased with how that works for me. Mines probably a bit snug for a T-shirt under at the moment but I must try it.

I sent a 12 back on Wednesday as well. I loved it but just couldn’t make it work for me - it wasn’t a great length, really needed another couple of inches.
