TOAST

Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

@Floisme

Sorry mashed up link. Try again
Love these, Flo. I have a soft spot for Annie Hall anyway. All (and I mean all) of my waist length hair fell out just a couple of weeks after I’d seen Annie Hall at the cinema, and my then boyfriend hunted everywhere to find me a bottle green velvet Annie Hall hat to wear.

@Railingsohno

OK I need a few opinions (ironically after your comment *@SirVixofVixHall* 🤪)

First up Whistles barrel jeans. Not sure, feel so wide compared to my skinnies. Maybe it’s the white. They were out of stock in the blue but I’ll keep my eye open. They’re flattering on the waist although I have lost a few pounds due to lockdown stress but I’m sure I’ll put back on soon enough. Do they
loosen up?

These look fabulous on you - def a keeper. I think the new shape does feel odd for a while, but they do really suit you.
ilovecherries · 19/06/2020 14:04

@Railingsohno

Finally (sorry!) shirt. Love the check. I have a scruffy flannel one that I wear loads and this is a good smarter version. Not sure about the neckline. I’m a bit self conscious about the crepe. I may change the buttons to navy. It will also be nice under jumpers as a little flash of colour.
Do I spy Hush easy trousers? Again, I love the shirt, although for me that would be winter wear - no real reason for that, other than I always associate red checks with winter clothes.
ilovecherries · 19/06/2020 14:12

@Railingsohno

Then Ikat skirt. This is a size bigger as that’s all they had on JL. It’s a bit big but so comfy and with the tie at the back I can pull it in if I need to. Think it would work in winter too. What would people wear this with? Think I need something form fitting on top.
I think this does look a bit big - and I’m not a believer in sizing down in clothes that are supposed to be oversized. But I think it’s maybe drowning you a bit on the hips. Gorgeous fabric, I’d be tempted to hang out for the right size.
SirVixofVixHall · 19/06/2020 14:13

railings really like the Whistles trousers on you, and the skirt. The dress is an odd length, more of an overdress?

Whatthefoxgoingon · 19/06/2020 14:16

@Railingsohno

I have the dress in that ikat fabric. It really is lovely to wear. I’d keep the skirt even if it was a bit big (Am biased as I like the fabric a lot!)

EraOfTheGrey · 19/06/2020 14:16

Flo I do prefer the toast hiker boots but for normal town walking. I was honestly just looking for an excuse to buy the lovely boots. I'll do as you suggested a keep an eye out for the size 5. I see a trip to Northampton in my covid free future.

The Ume dresses arrived today and I'm definitely keeping them. DH has said he will buy one of them for me (I ordered both colours).

Floisme · 19/06/2020 14:23

Ha ha don't let me talk you out of them Era! I hope they come back in and I think that, with coming up large, there's a good chance.

Moominmammaatsea · 19/06/2020 14:30

@Railingsohno, the skirt looks amazing with the Ivar jacket, which I think you bought as well? I have worn my Ikat skirt with a vintage John Smedley sea island knit. Have you worn your Ivar yet? It’s my new favourite thing; the fabric is so soft and the indigo so deep and true. I’m pleased that it looks just as good unbuttoned as fully done up.

StarShapedWindow · 19/06/2020 14:45

@Railingsohno I love the black dress on you, super everdayer, I know I’d wear it loads.

I hope your DD’s eyesight returns to what it was before the screen time, poor kid, life can be so tough.

@EraOfTheGrey the Linen Gingham dress is fab and I’m in love with it. It looks exactly like it looks on the model, hangs the same. I am 5’3 (and a 1/2 - important at this height). I’m size 12 in everyday life but could easily have got the 10. I’m keeping the 12 because I can’t be bothered to send it back and it didn’t really matter to me if it’s a bit roomier.

I also bought the IDA large check and I’m happy with it but again wish I’d gone for the 10 rather than the 12. I like it back to front better, so with the v at the front. I’m a bit concerned I look more like a potter than a bohemian artist in this dress (small but significant difference 😉) but I’ve been wearing it all day and the lovely wide tie around the waist makes it look a bit like it’s inspired by the East. I also got the Nora dress in a 12 and that has to go back because it squashed my tits down - not very attractive. The Loop Back Jersey Tee is fantastic - easy, elegant dress. Lastly got the Cross Hatch Floral Print Wrap which is super flattering but quite open on the chest - need to either pin it or wear a crop top underneath.

@Moominmammaatsea
@Railingsohno

I’m sorry - I’ve confused you obviously I mean Moomins DD and Railings dress

Sorry! My 8 yr old DD won’t stop asking me questions and my 11 yr old DS is needing help with his school work - home schooling! 😶

Sounds beautiful - but it’s not me with that. Maybe I should get it?!😁

Oops! I really hope I’m not the woman who breaks JL 😯

wishywashywoowoo70 · 19/06/2020 15:55

Just had to look at TOAST
Flip it's expensive isn't it

Saurus72 · 19/06/2020 16:01

Wishywashy- it isn’t cheap! I’d say it’s perfect for people who know their style, know exactly what they wear most, and want good quality versions of them. The quality is outstanding.

I'm not adult enough I don't think Smile

My style changes depending on my mood (and weight)

I prefer a bit of a rock look but sometimes black jeans and boots with a biker jacket just doesn't cut it.

Laska2Meryls · 19/06/2020 18:00

Anyone know when the Toast sale is due to end?

EraOfTheGrey · 19/06/2020 18:09

@StarShapedWindow I'm so very very tempted but I might wait to see if I can ignore it for a little bit. Something about waiting and good things etc.

Countmeout · 19/06/2020 18:11

@Laska2Meryls they seem to drop on a Thursday so would it do one more drop next Thursday then last a further week.

Laska2Meryls · 19/06/2020 18:28

Thanks hope so, I am stalking that bag still but its not dropped further

AmethystMoonShine · 19/06/2020 20:30

I’ve caved Blush
I’ve ordered the green linen coat dress, the Kala Dress and the v neck denim dress.... I can’t keep them all!
Hoping for more reductions next week too, so little from this season in the sale which is sad. I guess we’ll see it in the next sale later in the year?

AmethystMoonShine · 19/06/2020 20:32

It can’t be much longer @ Laska2Meryls this is the second sale since lockdown started!

StarShapedWindow · 19/06/2020 20:32

@EraOfTheGrey you’re quite right, it’s definitely the right thing to do. Unfortunately I’m not a patient person but I do aspire to be.
