TOAST

Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

Oh that's annoying cherries. Hope you like the item? I do think it's a bit mean to exclude sales stuff from free delivery and returns. I understand the endless online shopping and returns cycle is problematic, but running a website is a lot cheaper than bricks and mortar stores so I think companies could cover postage costs.

SteakDiane · 02/06/2020 13:05

Is it this linen dress gold? I'm tempted by it too. This sleeveless one is probably better for summer, and I love the colour, but it's sold out in small sizes. Anyone know if they tend to restock?

Londonmummy66 · 02/06/2020 13:10

I love the quality of TOAST but I have a chest - their models never do - so a lot of stuff just hangs off my bust and makes me look enormous. I do have a few things that I bought years ago that I love and are now starting to fall apart - I stalk ebay mainly to see if I can replace them.

goldpendant · 02/06/2020 13:15

Yes @SteakDiane that's the one, I've got orange and navy, both lovely.

I loved the sleeveless too (wanted the off-white) but it's sold out in my size too 😕

Very annoying @ cherries . That’s why I sometimes prefer to use John Lewis if the item is on there. I think it’s very irritating if a company doesn’t give free returns, puts me off buying.

Uponmytiptoes · 02/06/2020 19:49

Love toast! Has anyone else discovered the hidden sales items? If you search for 'dress' there's loads more discounted dresses than the ones listed in the sales section. I've gone buts buying their basic t-shirts Grin

Uponmytiptoes · 02/06/2020 19:49

*nuts not buts!

Countmeout · 02/06/2020 20:50

@Uponmytiptoes I think I may love you , have just bought a dress I almost bid on on eBay last week and my Darcy jacket in another colour.
Great tip.
No I don’t need a dress but 😬

Countmeout · 02/06/2020 20:51

I did check I had a return label though before I jumped. Just in case.

SteakDiane · 02/06/2020 21:49

Great tip about the secret sale! Got a beautiful silk shirt I tried on months ago, thought it'd sold out. Now fingers crossed for a paid returns label. Must NOT keep everything I ordered...

yesbutnobut · 02/06/2020 22:14

As the shops are not physically open they absolutely should be providing return labels - I'd contact them and ask for one.

fizzpopbang123 · 03/06/2020 06:59

As the shops are not physically open they absolutely should be providing return labels I'd contact them and ask for one. They do provide one, it's just not always pre paid.

Not everyone lives near a Toast shop, in fact there aren't that many of them at all, so them being shut doesn't necessarily affect their online business.

I don't work for them, and I love free returns as much as anyone, but the returns policy is in the T&Cs, its a choice to buy from them, they are not forcing you to shop with them!

Countmeout · 03/06/2020 09:08

Sorry @fizzpopbang123 but on my screen it says Free delivery and returns on full price items over £125. I have in the past occasionally not even received a free returns labels with full price items. It also says £3 delivery on others (which I appreciate has gone down from 4.95 I think it was) but no mention there of no free returns. The t and c’s say you get a free return if your item is eligible but the banner on the front to me does not to my mind preclude eligibility of sale items. I stand to be corrected as I’ve only scanned the t and c’s. I think it depends on what mood someone making up the parcel is.
Admittedly some people won’t care if they have to pay for returns if they’re buying Toast anyway but some of us appreciate a free return especially when fitting can be so hit and miss at times, and Toast is a stretch financially for us. Maybe I should go back to my sackcloth and ashes.
Postage costs generally is one of my bugbears due to my location.
I would love to live near a Toast shop.

Gardencuppa · 03/06/2020 09:29

@countmeout - they offer different postage conditions to different customers- I get free postage and returns and early access to sales as a long term customer

EmperorCovidula · 03/06/2020 09:36

I never don’t look like a supermodel in their clothes.

Zinnia · 03/06/2020 09:39

Fairly sure you get free postage and returns by signing up to the mailing list/being a repeat customer? I get this despite pretty much only ever buying in the sales. I've had - shall we say - more than one delivery from the current sale, the biggest order didn't have a pre-paid label in it but the other two did

Whatthefoxgoingon · 03/06/2020 10:56

I think you might need to order full price items over £125 to get the pre paid return label maybe? Well I hope so anyway as I’ve put in a big order of ten dresses!

AmethystMoonShine · 03/06/2020 12:55

Thanks for the tip off about the hidden sale items @Uponmytiptoes, I just ordered two tee shirts too! I’ve heard the quality is really good and at sale prices I thought I’d try a couple.

AmethystMoonShine · 03/06/2020 12:58

Thanks for the hidden sale tip @Uponmytiptoes Grin
I also bought a couple of tees. I’ve heard the quality is excellent and can stretch to a couple at sale prices to find out.

I went for the pea green and dark indigo, was tempted by the plum too but stopped myself Blush

AmethystMoonShine · 03/06/2020 12:59

Drat! Thought I’d lost the first post.... obviously not Blush

AmethystMoonShine · 03/06/2020 13:01

I’m really happy to have a Toast thread!
I wonder if it’ll last a while?

I also have the dress Angela McLean wore. It’s really easy to wear. I always wear it with a few buttons undone but might try it buttoned up to the neck as she did to see if I like it? I got it for about £70 I think, I was gutted when it went down to £40. I have the cream and black version too!

Igenixx · 03/06/2020 13:05

£130 For 1 dress! It’s not even an evening dress My goodness what do you do for a living?

ILikeyourHairyHands · 03/06/2020 13:06

I used to get loads from Toast about 10 years ago but the styling has definitely shifted to the more Amish which makes me look like a sack of spuds. I always pop into one of the shops and concessions if I'm near one and I had a lovely cashmere scarf from them last year, the quality's still brilliant but sadly I'm not into the current styles.

They did a mens range at one time which DH really liked, they discontinued it a few years ago, shame because they had some excellent stuff.

Zinnia · 03/06/2020 14:02

@AmethystMoonShine I have that t-shirt in green and burgundy from the last sale, been wearing them a lot!

Crispsareafoodgroup · 03/06/2020 14:29

I see toast recommendations on here a lot but I can’t see the appeal. Very expensive and everything had a frumpy feel. Always makes me think of Old fashioned Quakers.
