TOAST

Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

It's a great price but I'm always slightly suspicious when the discount is so generous - unless it's a random leftover from several seasons ago, I always think a lot of people must have had a problem with it.
I would check a) the rear view and
b) that it fits all over, these being my two big issues with jumpsuits.

Floisme · 01/06/2020 15:11

But if rear view and fit were both good and it was just the Andy Pandy vibe bothering me, I'd probably dye it and go for a blue/darker blue stripe. And avoid wearing with a white ruff and stripy hat.

Floisme · 01/06/2020 15:20

Although you do risk being left with some white stitching if you do that.

ilovecherries · 01/06/2020 15:38

Oh, I do love a bit of Toast. I have sent for a few things where I’ve thought WTAF when I take them out of the package, but have also got a couple of things that will need to be wrenched from my cold dead hands. My best successes have been trousers and dresses. I do have one Toast dress though that one of the senior scientists has worn now and again at the daily briefing, and now I feel a bit off it. I will probably put it away this year and hope I feel better about it by next summer.

Almahart, I actually believe most thing can be made to work if you style them well. I think that jumpsuit has potential, so if you love it, you should keep it - and wear it!

Buryit · 01/06/2020 16:04

Ha yes I spotted the Toast dress on the daily briefing too! I think it was Angela McLean, I liked it.

I noticed that @ilovecherries. I wonder is it same one I saw her in. I’ve stopped watching it every day now. I thought I looked better than I expected pattern wise. The one I saw was very well reduced last time it was in sale but the two colours in it weren’t really my sort of colour. I thought it looked better than I expected and might have given it a whirl if it had popped up again although a dress I do not need.

Yes ebay is great for TOAST items - I buy and sell on there too but you do have to be a bit of a stalker for sure Grin

JemIsMyNameNooneElseIsTheSame · 01/06/2020 17:06

I have a refer a friend 15% off code too - pm me if you'd like it. Not sure if it works on sale though...

GreenGreenGrassofSloane · 01/06/2020 18:07

Was that the day Angela McLean was wearing a pair of Grenson Nanettes - I thought it was a radical choice for the occasion. I remember a friend of mine being admonished by the Sister for wearing DMs when she was a Junior Doctor - she was having none of it!

ilovecherries · 01/06/2020 18:15

countmeout - it was this one. I bought it in the dag end of the sale for about £40 I think.

TOAST
Countmeout · 01/06/2020 20:06

Yes that’s it @ilovecherries is yours blue? It looks lovely on you. It was great value at the end of the sale, I had already bought www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+sale+dresses/c1mbq/palm+print+poplin+dress.htm?clr=C1MBQ_Olive_sw
So I gave it a miss.
She had on a couple of other ‘Toasty’ look things one day. Didn’t notice the Grensons though.

ilovecherries · 01/06/2020 21:04

Oh, that’s nice, Count. I’ve been stalking this one but it didn’t go cheap enough in the sale so I sat on my hands and now it’s oos. www.toa.st/uk/product/c1ndl/agnes+leaf+print+dress.htm

SteakDiane · 01/06/2020 21:09

Can anyone advise about sales returns with Toast? I'd really like to order some bits but after combing through the T&Cs it seems that only full price items have free returns. Is this true?

ilovecherries · 01/06/2020 21:17

Yes, it’s true Diane. I pay with PayPal and claim the return postage back from them. There is an option to do so within the transaction description in your PayPal account.

GreenGreenGrassofSloane · 01/06/2020 22:12

@SteakDiane My sales stuff came with a return postage label.

SteakDiane · 01/06/2020 22:19

Thanks for the responses. Paypal is a good idea cherries, hadn't thought of that. And that's encouraging GreenGreenGrass. Their returns page is pretty ambiguous on the matter.

Londonborncatty · 01/06/2020 22:21

No good for tall willowy types, too short. I would say 5ft 6” maximum.

GreenGreenGrassofSloane · 01/06/2020 22:43

@SteakDiane you could always order a full price item along with a sale item - I know that’s cheeky but it will get you around the postage thing.

LetTheRiverAnswer · 01/06/2020 23:56

Well that's enlightening, I always assumed the models were tall and thought anything longish on them would swamp me, but it seems I assumed wrong. Good news for me, less so perhaps for my bank balance 😬

Countmeout · 02/06/2020 05:32

Yes my last few sale items have come with a free returns label.
That Agnes dress is lovely too @ilovecherries I had noticed it, it’s in one of the colours I like. Maybe a return will appear although it’s not likely to drop in price any more.

SteakDiane · 02/06/2020 09:01

Hopefully they've got a bit more generous with returns then. I'll go through PayPal just in case. The risk of deciding to keep a full price item is putting me off that tactic! Can't bring myself to order something I definitely wouldn't like...

I'm surprised about the length thing too. Always thought Toast was for the willowy. Which I'm not. Although now thinking the cropped trousers I'm getting might be the unfortunate mid calf type.

ilovecherries · 02/06/2020 09:20

I’m 5’7, and generally always find the length good. I’m not willowy though, so maybe that helps!

ilovecherries · 02/06/2020 09:22

I’ve just had a sale item delivered today. While there is a returns label, it’s not pre-paid. It literally is an address label. So now I’m feeling cross and hard done by!

ZaraW · 02/06/2020 09:40

I'm 5' 9" the trousers are too short on me in a non fashion way. Some of the dresses are fine.

goldpendant · 02/06/2020 12:50

My navy linen dress arrived today, just as gorgeous as the orange one, although the cut is quite different even though they are the same dress?!
