I ahev just moved and met the only neighbour i think who isn't about 100!She is about 35 boden-y with kids and seemsnice but we were chatting about annie lennox as she had a paper with her picture on it and she was saying how it is harder for women who are attractive to accept aging and she was dreading it as she had spent her life getting what she wanted because of her looks!I was speechless for once and said little back but i would never say that although I am not what I was at 42 I was ok in my youth but it just shocked me So come on do you think you're gorge and has it helped or hindered you?

Ahh, this is interesting.

I could have been a contender when I was younger, y'know. Still can look pretty good when scrubbed up.

However the older I get the less I think it matters. What's nice about getting older is that it levels the playing field a bit: I feel people don't judge the raw material of appearance anymore, so much as what you do with it - your confidence, intelligence and joie de vivre starts to count for as much as whether you have a beach babe body or 'because you're worth it' hair. Obviously it doesn't hurt to have a decent haircut, brushed teeth and a clean shirt, but I think people use your appearance to gauge how much value you place in yourself, rather than your intrinsic attractiveness.

I was ugly as feck from babyhood. Honestly.. only a mother could have loved it. Luckily one did.

NOt at the moment, full of cold, stye in eye, coldsore on lip and one just blooming in left nostril, haven't slept in few nights so eyes are like pee-holes in the snow.

I wish I had realised that I was attractive when I was younger, between 17-22 I was quite OK, but then put on weight and now I'm just mumsy and drab really. More often than not I just feel invisible. Although I do really like my eyes (when you can see em) and have always had compliments about them.

was thinking all sort sof deep stuff honest...but then read FIOs post and am

ROFL...qutite uncontrollably crying with laughter...
love it!

beansontoast · 18/09/2007 21:58

im with newlifenewname ...what you/she said about loving ypur friend....is exactly how i feel...'beauty' can be be redefined by knowing someone...if that makes sense?

my mood controls my attractiveness...if im 'up' then im UP and can be intentionally or subconsciously attractive.

when i am 'down' im repellant.
