M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

I love my calendar this year. I got one a couple of years ago which was quite good, but I didnt bother last year. This years has been great

Yes the lip gloss was awful last year, shimmery peach, I'm much happier with stila, I got the red which is just my colour. Agree with p.o. Your lips do feel dry. I've never taken to Matt stuff but I'll persevere with this

I buy this one because it doesn't have much make up in it (rarely wear it) and I like to try the different skincare products.

@Horehound Yes if you take a pic and email or call customer service I think they’d do something for you. If they don’t have more of that product the might give you a gift voucher or something

ReeRi M&S have a huge amount of brands now, including some very high end ones. Their beauty hall is very impressive. It would be nice to have more variety next year.

I wore the priner today under estee lauder double wear and it is amazing. Much better than the Two Faced hangover one I use. I see a change in primer happening for me.

@Horehound - a couple of years ago I had a faulty Formula serum in the Advent Calendar and I couldn't get anything to come out of the pack. I took it to my local M&S to see if they had any spares to swap it with - they didn't, so took me over to the Beauty shelves and gave me a full-size serum to compensate! Not saying that would happen every time, but it was a bit of a result.

@Butterymuffin - no sticker on my Stila lip colour base. Obviously it fell off somewhere.

Primer - mmm. Not something I use. I wear mineral powder foundation and every primer I've tried to date just makes it go blotchy and patchy.

Oh yes & I too have the caramello Lipgloss- I’m sure I have the identical one from a previous calendar. Happy to swap for just about anything- particularly like the moisturiser/primer

I was thinking of saving my empty advent calendar , re-filling it with gifts and then gifting to my mum for her birthday in April or for Christmas next year then she can open a door everyday and the last day can be some nice jewellery for her birthday. Just seems such a waste not to re use the box.

I initially shoved the first 2 boxes in recycling but got them out and put them back in! I want to think of something to do with it as it's such a lovely box

I’ve given my boxes away in previous years, and this year refulled last year’s Liberty one to make an advent calendar for a friend

I was thinking of saving mine and making it into an advent calendar for the DC next year, they turned their noses up and said the boxes stink Grin to be fair they do, I love the smell but my under tens don’t!
Hopefully by next Christmas the smell will have evaporated!

I just opened the last three boxes as we are going away for Christmas and are leaving early tomorrow. Obviously no spoilers but in my opinion.... three good days await you all! Xmas Grin

Very happy to hear that @AmethystMoonShine ! I was wondering if we'd have a disappointing dud at the end.

I'm not bothering with the lip colour, based on people's reactions.

Am wearing the primer today, but to be honest, haven't looked in the mirror enough to know if there was a difference! My husband hasn't mentioned anything...

I don't know what to do with my box either. I can't imagine being organised (or generous!) enough to restock it for anyone else. Do those ones resell on eBay?

I quite liked the lip colour. It looked ok on my lips, felt fine (I forgot I was wearing it) and lasted most of the day!

I don’t think I’ll keep my box, the star shape limits what you can fit in them and it’d just be cluttering up the house. I kept the Look fantastic one from the year before last as it was beautiful and useful (with three good sized drawers) and I’ll keep the ASOS one from this year (minus the individual boxes) as it’ll make a nice storage box.

Looking forward to the last few days!

So this was in the box 2 years ago, and I was annoyed then as it contains Microbeads. Two years on I’m genuinely surprised that they are still including products with Microbeads. Can’t use it for that reason.

I'm pleased with today's as I don't recall using anything from this brand before (although if it's been in a previous advent calendar I probably have). Shall try it later.

Are you sure it does contain microbeads as they are now illegal so products that used to contain them have either been reformulated or discontinued?

This is my third year with this calendar and I don’t remember this product? Happy with today’s. I prefer skincare to make up too as I don’t wear much makeup and makeup colour is so personal. You’re either going to be able to use something or not so it’s a bit of a waste for most people.

I would rather do swops on here than on the swops thread as I at least know what the products are. On the swops thread there seems to be a lot of makeup.

I have unused and unopened:
Eyeko mascara
Still lip gloss in beso (red)
Pick lipgloss from last year I think
Autograph primer
Skyn lip balm
Autograph black eyeliner

Also from last year:
Black tulip perfume x 2
Autograph primer
Studio 10 pink lipgloss

Have opened and tried once:
Nail varnish
Formula total lip and eye

Things I want:
Aveda hair stuff
B&b hair stuff
Alpha H cleanser
Pure moisturiser
EH mask
EH cleansing balm from last year
