Which dress is better for family wedding?

After posting on here I've received some great advice, so I'm hoping to get some opinions on these two dresses.

I'm a size 18 after having a baby 11 months ago. My shape has completely changed so I'm feeling very lost at the moment. I'm looking for a dress to attend a family wedding.

I've got personal shopper appointments with both John Lewis and Debenhams this weekend. I'm still going even though I quite like these two dresses. I'm hoping to get further advice on what looks right on me.

The first dress is Studio 8 (size 18). It was suggested my bigusbumus so I'd like to say a big thank you if you are reading this! I didn't think I would like it but I love it! My husband says I can't rock magenta though Sad

The second dress makes me feel like a princess. The skirt is swishy. However, I had to order it in a size 20 which dampens it for me slightly. It's a Coast dress. I'm an 18 in every shop but I'm Coast I can't fit into the size 18.

So which dress is better for the family wedding? The magenta Studio 8 wrap dress or swishy Coast dress? (Or neither?!)

I'm getting so close to getting a dress that makes me feel good!!! Haven't felt good in anything for a while.

Never wear black to a wedding.

I like the purple one!

Heismyopendoor · 22/07/2019 15:53

I think you look lovely in the coast one and certainly don’t look a size 18/20 :)

Kannet · 22/07/2019 15:54

The coast one really suits you.

LoafofSellotape · 22/07/2019 15:55

Black one!

Crunchymum · 22/07/2019 15:55

I too bought that Coast dress for a wedding (I too am a size 18 but my baby is a bit older!)

You look a lot better in it than I did sent it back

I think with high shoes, it will be perfect.

BoswellsBollocks · 22/07/2019 15:55

The second dress is much nice imo.

The first looks a bit ‘glam granny’ and does you or your lovely figure justice. By the way you do not look a size 18!

parrotfashionista · 22/07/2019 15:55

The coast one is lovely on you

C0untDucku1a · 22/07/2019 15:55

The coast dress looks much much better for your shape. The purple is meh.

BoswellsBollocks · 22/07/2019 15:56

*does not

C0untDucku1a · 22/07/2019 15:57

The purple one is really frumpy. I think your dh was honest in a kind way.

thebear1 · 22/07/2019 15:57

The Coast one is really lovely on you.

Pomgirl · 22/07/2019 15:57

I love number 1! Especially the colour !

MollyButton · 22/07/2019 15:58

Another vote for the Coast dress - I think the other one looks frumpy (good word).

BertrandRussell · 22/07/2019 15:59

The Coast one is lovely. Carefully cut out the sihe label and forget it ever existed.

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/07/2019 15:59

Of these two the second one. I don't think the first one fits properly but I do like the style and colour. I think you can do better.

Swoopinggulls · 22/07/2019 16:00

The purple one makes you look like a much older person than you are (as you've just had a baby).

The Coast dress is lovely and looks fantastic on you. And it's not black, it's only a black top.

Wear the Coast one and you'll feel terrific at the wedding.

Lindy2 · 22/07/2019 16:01

I think they are both lovely. With the right accessories, shoes etc I'm sure either would look fabulous.
Personally I prefer the black and white. I think it actually looks quite slimming despite their sizing. I think it being two colour and having a floaty cut makes it fine for a wedding guest.
Don't worry about the size 20 thing. Sizes are all over the place in lots of shops now. I had to buy size 8 shoes in one shop when I'm actually a size 6. Clearly my feet were being fat despite not actually having really changed size!

Bubblysqueak · 22/07/2019 16:01

The magenta one looks a bit big around the shoulders.

The coast one looks amazing! I've got a similar figure and a family wedding next year so think I'll order and try it on!

BigBairyHollocks · 22/07/2019 16:01

The coast one by far-the purple is really grumpy and you certainly don’t look an 18 in the coast one.It is lovely on you.

SavageBeauty73 · 22/07/2019 16:02

Coast one is lovely!!

GooodMythicalMorning · 22/07/2019 16:04

The second one black and white is very flattering, doesnt look like a 20 at all (I used to be size 20 too) love it. Not keen on the magenta, the cut is all wrong for you.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 22/07/2019 16:04

Coast dress is fab.

Spookydot · 22/07/2019 16:04

Swishy black one looks amazing. Very flattering. (Colours fine for a wedding too.)

Bippertyboo2 · 22/07/2019 16:05

The Coast one looks great on you and shows your beautifully slim ankles off wonderfully. As others have said you certainly do not look a size 18.

FadedRed · 22/07/2019 16:06

The Coast one is lovely on you!
The other is OK and would probably look better with heels and accessories etc but not the wow that the Coast one looks.
