Which dress is better for family wedding?

After posting on here I've received some great advice, so I'm hoping to get some opinions on these two dresses.

I'm a size 18 after having a baby 11 months ago. My shape has completely changed so I'm feeling very lost at the moment. I'm looking for a dress to attend a family wedding.

I've got personal shopper appointments with both John Lewis and Debenhams this weekend. I'm still going even though I quite like these two dresses. I'm hoping to get further advice on what looks right on me.

The first dress is Studio 8 (size 18). It was suggested my bigusbumus so I'd like to say a big thank you if you are reading this! I didn't think I would like it but I love it! My husband says I can't rock magenta though Sad

The second dress makes me feel like a princess. The skirt is swishy. However, I had to order it in a size 20 which dampens it for me slightly. It's a Coast dress. I'm an 18 in every shop but I'm Coast I can't fit into the size 18.

So which dress is better for the family wedding? The magenta Studio 8 wrap dress or swishy Coast dress? (Or neither?!)

I'm getting so close to getting a dress that makes me feel good!!! Haven't felt good in anything for a while.

Cost dress by a million miles. Makes you look fantastic. Your body looks a lovely shape, thexstuctured for is very flaterig and the swish skirt Makes it " event special"
Ignore anyone cones up with the old gem of noblack at weddinigs too. The dress isnt black and those days atelong gone anyway
Team it with aid height pair of silver sandals or gold as second choice . Not black fr baance

HerRoyalNotness · 23/07/2019 04:39

The coast dress for sure. It has a better fit on you. Forget what size the label says, no one else will see it!!

Tootytata · 23/07/2019 05:52

Iamaporcupine - damn it! I couldn't find my size on eBay! I paid £132 for it. But I couldn't zip up the size 18 anyway so had to send it back! You should get the dress...it's a lovely dress. At least order it and try it on (you won't want to give it back)! Grin

Can anyone suggest necklace or earrings to go with the Coast dress?

Tried to find a pale pink statement necklace but couldn't find much.

I like the colour of the purple one but the coast one suits your figure more.

Tootytata · 23/07/2019 06:41

Is this necklace too fussy for the asymmetric neckline?

I think because the skirt is such a statement, and the neckline is asymmetrical maybe some big earrings are the way to go. If it was me, it would be statement shoes, lipstick and either sunglasses or earrings. Maybe bag, but then I’d make one of the other two more subtle.

StarlightLady · 23/07/2019 07:55

Coast.

FluffyCloudsInTheSky · 23/07/2019 07:55

Coast dress is gorgeous on you so glad you are keeping it! Coast sizing has always been small, so I've always had to go one size up.

I wouldn't wear a statement necklace, I think it would be too much. I would either wear no necklace or a simple solitaire on a short chain (M&S do great fakes!). However I would go elaborate with earrings. Then black/pale pink sandals and clutch bag

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 23/07/2019 08:16

The Coast dress looks fabulous on you!

IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod · 23/07/2019 08:18

No 2 looks lovely

Awrite · 23/07/2019 08:21

I see you are going with the second dress - excellent! It's so, so much nicer than the first dress.

I wouldn't ruin the neckline with a necklace. Doesn't need one.

ShirleyPhallus · 23/07/2019 08:21

Another vote for dress 2. your figure looks absolutely fab in it, no way do you look a size 18

Congrats on your baby Flowers

LottieLucie · 23/07/2019 08:31

Dress 2 all the way, the colours are lovely and fine for a wedding. You don't look size 18 at all! Coast sizing is like that though.

Thiswayorthatway · 23/07/2019 08:33

The Coast one definitely, swish away!

Verite1 · 23/07/2019 09:07

I agree. Don’t wear a necklace. Generally asymmetrical necklines look better without.

freshsheets · 23/07/2019 09:12

The first one is frumpy looking (think it's the sleeves) but I really like how the second one looks on you! Very flattering in the top.

soontobefour4 · 23/07/2019 09:24

So glad you are keeping the Coast dress. It really suits you and shows off your slim ankles and arms. You look nowhere near an 18 and I've always had to size up Coast dresses anyway. Sizes can be so misleading and squeezing yourself into something that's to small will only make you look larger.

Don't bother with a statement necklace, the dress speaks for itself.

TulipsTulipsTulips · 23/07/2019 09:26

Both dresses look lovely on you but the black and white is the winner. Very pretty and shows off your figure beautifully.

BertrandRussell · 23/07/2019 09:37

No necklace. Simple, understated earrings. Maybe a plain bracelet. Plain shoes and bag. A fantastic, stylish outfit.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 23/07/2019 09:39

Dress 2 is gorgeous on you!

No necklace at all, statement earrings if you can wear them, and maybe a bracelet.

ThatCurlyGirl · 23/07/2019 11:02

Another vote for no necklace as the neckline is gorgeous it is.

I would go with statement earrings and shoes if you want to add a pop of colour perhaps.

It's a gorgeous fit, good find!

Lauren83 · 23/07/2019 11:07

The black one, the other looks a bit like a silk dressing gown and doesn't look a great fit

Smellbow · 23/07/2019 11:07

Wow, you look fabulous in the Coast dress. You've found your match Grin

I agree with PPs, no necklace and bigger earrings, or diamond studs and a fascinator/headband, with a nice bracelet/watch.

And I vote the Coast dress as someone who was offended that my sister-in-law, mother-in-law and stepmother-in-law all turned up to my wedding (of 25 people) in head-to-toe black. I would have not turned a hair at them wearing the Coast dress! For the record, I have never said anything to them and never would, but it does feel good to moan about it on an internet forum Halo

Moondancer73 · 23/07/2019 11:14

Much prefer the second one, first one is a bit frumpy. The coast one is much nicer
