I have absolutely ruined my hair. Ruined it.

So my hair was platinum blonde this morning, did it myself, took ages.

I decided to put a scwarzkopf live pastel pink on it as its my favourite colour.

I have natural brunette root regrowth (which I like) so I throw the colour on.

I didn't realise it has LIGHTENER in it.

So my hair goes pink and my roots go orange. Shock

I had some bleach so I lifted my roots to platinum and reapply some of the live pink.

Same happens again. Orange roots.

I have no money to go hairdressers. None.

So I look online and it says orange/red will cover

I have 2 mango twist dyes. So I apply them

I rinse and my hair is am awful awful colour

And to top it off my hair has broken about 3cm from my scalp right on top of my head so I have spikey hair on top.

I haven't stopped crying.

I have really low self esteem and I feel like utter shit.

I had just started to feel better about myself and thought I could pull off the hint of pink

Now I'm left with some awful patchy dull red hair with broken roots.

I've been so stupid :(

It's been platinum for months. I don't mean I've just got it platinum.

Aw I've been there. It feels awful now, but the great thing about hair is it grows, thankfully. It needs to be left alone now for at least a week (more, probably) before you even think about going near it.

Probably actually don't touch it with anything for a good 2 weeks and then maybe see a hairdresser.

RuggyPeg · 15/06/2019 21:58

Oh blimey 😬 You've chucked a lot at your hair there. No advice cos u probably need an expert but it's awful when u feel like your hair is mess. Cling on to the fact that it will fade/grow out etc.

Belle89 · 15/06/2019 21:58

Go brown, or contact a local training college get the fix done at a cheaper rate. Students work under supervision of experienced tutors.

TheWashingMachine · 15/06/2019 22:00

Shave it off to a number three then just let it grow, it needs a break

Cryinganddyeing · 15/06/2019 22:02

I cannot go hairdressers.

I'm on ESA. I can't even afford a haircut never mind a colour correction.

I was treating myself with the live dyes at £7 each!

I would love to shave it off but I'm grossly overweight and would look like uncle Fester.

Leave it alone, but some wide fabric head bands or something in colours that will complement the red hair and just brazen it out. Maybe you could consider a pixie cut if the short bits are really noticeable?

Reds fade pretty fast so I wouldn’t do anything else to it at the moment, leave it until you are able to get an appointment.

I had my colour stripped and redone at a local college - took hours as it was all supervised by a tutor but they did a great job and it cost me about £5 for the dye, the cut and applying the colour etc was free.

Hope you get it sorted ASAP. Flowers

RagingWhoreBag · 15/06/2019 22:05

*buy some

RagingWhoreBag · 15/06/2019 22:06

If you can’t buy headbands you can make them from old t shirts - I sometimes cut off the sleeves of a t shirt and use them as a matching head band.

Cryinganddyeing · 15/06/2019 22:07

I can make my own headbands on my sewing machine. I'll do that to cover the spikey bits x thanks.

Is it just a small amount of hair that’s broken off ?

BentBaastard · 15/06/2019 22:09

Can you upload a photo so we can reassure you?

It might not be that bad.

Get some good conditioner or warmed olive oil on it, wrap your head in clingfilm and leave it on as long as you can bear it. And no colour for at least a month.

It will grow, honest.

Funky headbands will tide you over until it grows out a bit. Great that you can make some as you could make a few using different materials. Try not to stress too much over it. Id say a lot of us have had a hair disaster over the years. Mine was like straw more than once.

I would give yourself a short hair cut. Make your headbands. Focus on growing out healthy hair over the best few months. Summer is a good time to do that. We've all made some mistakes over the yrs. Valuable lessons learned and you'll laugh about it 5/10 yrs down the road. You will not look like fester. Buy a great lipstick, some fabulous sunglasses.

dudsville · 15/06/2019 22:19

That is a pretty pink!

LorelaiRoryEmily · 15/06/2019 22:20

Hairdresser here @Cryinganddyeing I don’t actually think it looks too bad. Do you want to pm me a full pic and I’ll see if there’s anything I can suggest to help?

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/06/2019 22:21

Honestly its not that bad op

TinklyLittleLaugh · 15/06/2019 22:22

Oh it’s not that bad, my DD’s is a similar colour.

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 15/06/2019 22:24

It really genuinely doesn't look that bad and I'm saying that as someone who has been where you are now many, MANY times.

Red fades fast, my advice to you would be try to style it out and don't do anything more to it right now. Any attempt to fix it will result in more damage and a much darker colour which will only make it more difficult to go back (I'm assuming getting back to blonde is what you want - take it from me, I ended up with black hair once)

LaMarschallin · 15/06/2019 22:25

It really isn't that bad.
And I know we can only see a bit of it, but I'm very jealous of your lovely skin.
