I have absolutely ruined my hair. Ruined it.

So my hair was platinum blonde this morning, did it myself, took ages.

I decided to put a scwarzkopf live pastel pink on it as its my favourite colour.

I have natural brunette root regrowth (which I like) so I throw the colour on.

I didn't realise it has LIGHTENER in it.

So my hair goes pink and my roots go orange. Shock

I had some bleach so I lifted my roots to platinum and reapply some of the live pink.

Same happens again. Orange roots.

I have no money to go hairdressers. None.

So I look online and it says orange/red will cover

I have 2 mango twist dyes. So I apply them

I rinse and my hair is am awful awful colour

And to top it off my hair has broken about 3cm from my scalp right on top of my head so I have spikey hair on top.

I haven't stopped crying.

I have really low self esteem and I feel like utter shit.

I had just started to feel better about myself and thought I could pull off the hint of pink

Now I'm left with some awful patchy dull red hair with broken roots.

I've been so stupid :(

From the tiny sliver of face in your blonde photo you don’t look overweight and certainly not Uncle Festerlike! Good luck. You’ll rock a snazzy headband and I don’t think your hair is half as bad as you think it is Smile

SavoyCabbage · 15/06/2019 22:26

It's soooooo not that bad.

RiversDisguise · 15/06/2019 22:26

I like that colour.

MashedSpud · 15/06/2019 22:28

I also like the colour.

spaniorita · 15/06/2019 22:29

LOVE the pink!! Style the spikes out with some headbands but leave the colour. I like it!!

CookPassBabtridge · 15/06/2019 22:29

It looks lovely! Please don't beat yourself up. I was expecting something terrible!

Bluemascara4 · 15/06/2019 22:30

I love that colour !
Jealous because of my job I'm not allowed .

Honestly , although only having seen a bit , it looks lovely x

Slopacker · 15/06/2019 22:30

I like it. Wear a hairband with a topknot (a la Jo Brand) to cover the broken bits. It’ll look cute.

Goldmandra · 15/06/2019 22:32

I'm quite conservative about hair colours usually but I think it looks nice.

I have a feeling that your perception is coloured by it not being what you intended. Nobody is going to be able to tell that it isn't exactly as you planned if that picture is anything to go by.

carla1983 · 15/06/2019 22:34

I don't think it looks that bad? I like the pink colour.

AudacityOfHope · 15/06/2019 22:35

The colour is great!

PocaNinja · 15/06/2019 22:36

From how you were describing it, it sounded really awful but on seeing the pics, I really like the pink! I’m very fashion conscious and if I saw you on the street I wouldn’t think anything bad.

tomatostottie · 15/06/2019 22:36

I think it looks ok actually. I was expecting much worse from your description.
Just brazen it out. Headband to cover the spikes.
You could give yourself a short haircut - but you'd have to be careful not to end up making a mess.
Or go to a local college and ask for a short haircut.

seven201 · 15/06/2019 22:38

Its a lovely colour

Betty777 · 15/06/2019 22:39

ok so its not quite the same as I only have blond balayage not platinum all over, however - I did the same a few weeks ago with a dirty pink dye through it.
Looked awful (like a fat middle-aged housewife, rather than a cool kid) It took surprisingly little to wash it out - maybe 6/7 shampoos total?
So it might not help with the roots issue, but most of the problem will probably be gone very soon. Good luck

DawgLover · 15/06/2019 22:39

I actually think that colour looks cool as fuck! From what I can see you also have the skin tone to pull it off.

A cheap anti dandruff shampoo will help the colour fade if you're not sure though.

But genuinely, I think it looks quite cool. Plus its festival season so you wont even look out of place.

burnyburny · 15/06/2019 22:40

Aw, OP! You're feeling bad because you have low self esteem, but felt brave and took a gamble, and didn't get the result you expected. But, honestly, that colour is honestly near as bad as your OP had me believe!

I think the headbands will look lovely with it.

Take this as an opportunity to experiment with make up, etc and I bet it actually helps boost your confidence a little.

PS you look like you have beautiful skin!

MuchTooTired · 15/06/2019 22:40

From your op I was thinking it would look awful, but your pics look great! I love the colour, and think it looks fab. I’ve no advice really for the spiky bits, I have them too.

Wavingwhiledrowning · 15/06/2019 22:40

Take this from someone that managed to dye their hair a baby sick/khaki green (it was meant to be blonde)... That's really not that bad, and will definitely fade really quickly. As for the short bits - I doubt anyone will actually notice, but it's nothing a bit of product or accessories won't fix.

swapsicles · 15/06/2019 22:41

Been there done that, my spikey bits took a year to grow out, I bleached my hair twice in one night to go canary yellow then again a week or so later to go blonde, then went pink but because it was so fragile bits broke off near the top where I had my hair half up half down.
I countered this by just putting my fringe up in a type of quiff so they were hidden a bit. Then got it cut where they kind of blended it in each time so it wasn't so noticeable.
I'm currently trying to grow my hair by taking the perfectil plus hair and the inversion method, last week I've had about 1cm growth and I can see the difference.
Take care of your hair, minimum heat and plenty of conditioning treatments/oils to keep it from being dry and knotty. You'll get there 😊

MorondelaFrontera · 15/06/2019 22:41

I was expecting a horror with the amount of stuff you've put on today, but it's actually not that bad at all!

Leave your hair alone, maybe someone can advise what product (even cheap) you can use to repair it.

Change your top too, you might find it looks a lot better if 2 colours don't clash.

ImpossibleNovelty · 15/06/2019 22:41

Joining the others who say it looks nice! Shame about the damage but some good tips here for covering it up. It’s crap when things don’t work out as you’d hoped though Flowers

burnyburny · 15/06/2019 22:41

**nowhere near as bad!

Pretty cool, actually!

Totaldogsbody · 15/06/2019 22:41

Having been there I know now that you always think its worse than it actually is. I'm sure I've seen that colour plenty of times and it looks good. As PP said its probably not quite the colour you expected. I'd definately leave it a couple of weeks before trying anything else just give it a good condition each time you wash it.

Moltenpink · 15/06/2019 22:42

Oh it really is a lovely colour. I bet you’ll be stopped by people asking how you got it... you’d best be ready with the process!
