I have absolutely ruined my hair. Ruined it.

So my hair was platinum blonde this morning, did it myself, took ages.

I decided to put a scwarzkopf live pastel pink on it as its my favourite colour.

I have natural brunette root regrowth (which I like) so I throw the colour on.

I didn't realise it has LIGHTENER in it.

So my hair goes pink and my roots go orange. Shock

I had some bleach so I lifted my roots to platinum and reapply some of the live pink.

Same happens again. Orange roots.

I have no money to go hairdressers. None.

So I look online and it says orange/red will cover

I have 2 mango twist dyes. So I apply them

I rinse and my hair is am awful awful colour

And to top it off my hair has broken about 3cm from my scalp right on top of my head so I have spikey hair on top.

I haven't stopped crying.

I have really low self esteem and I feel like utter shit.

I had just started to feel better about myself and thought I could pull off the hint of pink

Now I'm left with some awful patchy dull red hair with broken roots.

I've been so stupid :(

I was expecting far worse. Your hair is lovely.

Cocolapew · 15/06/2019 23:04

It's really lovely and you don't need a hairband, theres hardly any spiky bits. A bit of wax will keep them down.
It looks in pretty good condition still. I once bleached mine and it fell out when I dried it. It was like it was snowing 😀

user1497997754 · 15/06/2019 23:04

It looks really nice stop worrying and go rock your new colour x

crazycatgal · 15/06/2019 23:05

That copper colour looks really nice Smile

AloneLonelyLoner · 15/06/2019 23:05

I think you look just lovely!

thenightsky · 15/06/2019 23:06

Your last pic looks really nice. What I'm aiming for actually.

Miniloso · 15/06/2019 23:07

Honestly it looks absolutely fine! I would avoid straightening too much though, it’ll damage it more. Headband to cover breakage at the top, or wear your hair up? Don’t panic though, I think it’s pretty!

AdaShelby · 15/06/2019 23:07

It looks great. Slap some serum on the broken bits and then forget them. Hardly noticeable at all.

DonttouchthatLarry · 15/06/2019 23:08

It looks lovely - people would happily pay for that, it doesn't look like an accident Smile

LadyBumclock · 15/06/2019 23:09

OP it's fine! Glad you're feeling better. Just smooth those sticking-up bits with a bit of gel or wax if you have any, or just a tiny dab of moisturizer or body oil. They aren't that bad either.

lookingatthings · 15/06/2019 23:09

I actually love the colour and the cut - extra long fringe and all :)

Sproutsandall · 15/06/2019 23:11

The colour is ace and your hair style would really suit a 70s style hairband to cover the spiky bits. I think you'll look lovely, Op, pleas don't stress!

Durgasarrow · 15/06/2019 23:11

I don't think it's so bad

RJnomore1 · 15/06/2019 23:11

Colours amazing

Down to Asda with you for a. 99p argon oil hair mask. Brown tub with green letter I think. Will work wonders on the condition.

DawgLover · 15/06/2019 23:15

Its a lovely copper colour, and you can definitely pull it off with your skin tone.

A little wax or hairspray should help with the broken hair, but i wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out.

Really simply, if you walked past me in the street I would absolutely never look and think that might be a hair disaster. Not in a million years.

Janus · 15/06/2019 23:16

I honestly think it’s a really nice colour too, it’s all good.

Apileofballyhoo · 15/06/2019 23:16

It's lovely! I bet people will want to know how you got that colour!

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 15/06/2019 23:16

Gorgeous colour OP!

Change your parting to cover the spiky bits until they’ve grown enough to lay flatter.

CorBlimeyGovenor · 15/06/2019 23:17

To be honest, I thought that it was going to look quite comical, especially after your explanation of what you did to it. I actually really like it!! I REALLY LIKE IT. Maybe because I've just finished watching the second series of 'Killing Eve' and she has the same hair colour as that (and it's super cool!). I now have a bit of hair envy. Should I dye my hair pink at 43?

JemSynergy · 15/06/2019 23:21

Doesn't look bad at all! in my teenage years I put a plum wash in wash out colour on my hair however, someone had swopped the colour over and it was a permanent black dye! I remember washing it off and looking in the mirror thinking wtf?! I am really fair skinned and it looked hideous! I then went to the hairdressers to sort it out but she just lobbed off big chunks of my hair and it looked even worse! Took ages to grow out. Never did a home colour again after that.

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 15/06/2019 23:30

I really love that colour!
As for the damage, I really, really recommend the redken extreme lengths range. It's abit pricey but it will last a while and usually beauty bay or look fantastic have some offers.

Lazysundays18 · 15/06/2019 23:31

I genuinely think it looks lovely!

Poppins2016 · 15/06/2019 23:31

It might not be what you were after, but it does look good.

The spiky bits can be sorted with a tiny spritz of hairspray and then a quick smooth down.

MuchTooTired · 15/06/2019 23:32

It looks even better straightened, that’s the colour I’d like mine to be! The spiky bits are nowhere near as bad as i read them to be, and I wouldn’t even think they were spiky bits, just hair growing in. I wish my hair looked as good as yours does!

Cakemonger · 15/06/2019 23:41

Your hair looks really nice OP! It may not be what you wanted but honestly it looks great.

From what you were saying I was expecting Margot Robbie in Mary Queen of Scots: www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/margot-robbie-queen-elizabeth-i-11117275
