WideWebWitch · 16/07/2007 09:27

Hello! This is week four of the SIXTH boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun

Anyone who feels like it, post how you've been feeling since doing this and why you want to keep doing it. Add what you want to achieve at the end of it too if you want to.

Cheers m'dears.

Not too bad

100g granola
apple
peach
tuna steak with waldorf salad in a restaurant. Salad had dressing, suspect it wasn't too great from a calorie pov
lots of water
no exercise but Moron arrived this eve, hurrah!
and dh has got butterflied leg of lamb in the oven
and I AM going to drink wine tonight.

iota · 26/07/2007 20:00

well WWW, if you are having wine, then so am I. I have survived 4 days of school holidays alone, whilst dh swans off in a hotel in foreign climes

TheDuchessOfNorks · 26/07/2007 20:14

tigermoth - poor DS. How is he feeling now?

yoyo - ditto same dress size but higher bottom, much firmer thighs and even my arms look better. And I have lost a stone. But I was really hoping to be back in some of my smaller summer clothes by now. Ah well, I'll get there eventually. I'm certainly fitter!

I've just been out for an evening run, much prefer mornings but it was OK. Quite a lot was cross-country and hilly. I ran for 40 minutes .

Bootcamp has made a difference. This, and the running thread, have really helped me stay motivated with the exercise - which in turn has ensured that I drink more water. I have tried to get to bed ealier - which always has instant results on my face. So thanks everyone!

yoyo · 26/07/2007 23:47

Duchess - but how does this work? I am exercising more than I have ever done! My arms are definitely more defined and my stomach is relatively toned (the odd muscular ripple can be detected). I am firmer all over and yet not a size smaller. DH keeps affirming the positive - your heart, your fitness, etc but blow me I want a smaller size!! Today I did 5 k on the treadmill, 3k on the bike and 2k on the rower - I sweat like a Grand National horse. My eating habits are pretty uniform and I am one of life's restless souls - much happier being busy than idle. Is it just getting older? Is it a losing game? Can I keep this up for a perkier yet still rotund bottom? Bed beckons. I will ponder such thoughts before I drift off with that restless twitching of the legs...

tortoiseSHELL · 27/07/2007 00:42

(just had indian with friends, really lovely, but not really boot camp )

Anyone who's still interested, have put a few more hen pics here!

WideWebWitch · 27/07/2007 08:19

Will read that later TS

Well done DoN and Yoyo

I had wine and was asleep by 10pm and didn't wake until 8am so feel absolutely fine today. But back on the wagon for me I think, I feel better without it.

tigermoth · 27/07/2007 08:34

Thanks for your thoughts about ds1. He is fairly ok, sleeping well, etc but he's certainly been put off walking around our area alone. I am just so glad he is not having to walk to and from school this week. We are off to Devon for 10 days tomorrow. Good timing I think. Apparently the key group who suffer mobile phone theft are 11- 13 year old boys. DS did exactly the right thing - phoned me to tell me he was leaving his friend's house to walk back and was carrying his phone because I had asked him to have it on him. He did take a short cut through the park, but as there were lots of people around, the risk didn't appear to be much. Ds saw a 13 year old friend who lives in Lewisham. This friend has been threatened like this several times, mainly at school, and now doesn't even carry dinner money to school but has packed lunches instead.

Very impressed with Duchessofnork's 40 minute cross country run. I'm not running at the moment, but when I did, I almost always ran for well under 30 minutes. I called it the half hour barrier. Even if my body kept on going, my mind told me to stop.

Thanks yoyo and simplysparking for the protect and perfect tips. I do think the serum is doing me some good so will persist.

I am hoping to get my third lido swim of the week in today. The weather looks good enough to brave it. Next weeks weather forecast looks a bit better - here's hoping!

I'll be logging on here over my hols from time to time.

SimplySparkling · 27/07/2007 09:18

tigermoth Sorry to hear that children are having to take such measures as taking packed lunches so that they don't carry money therefore can't be a target for mugging. Presumably if the same people are doing it all the time they know not to bother with certain ones as they never have it. It's so wrong. I hope you enjoy your holiday.

www I did really well last night. I did ironing for an hour as an excuse to watch that drama True Dare Kiss or whatever it is and then I walked the dog for 15 mins or so before bed. I was also in bed before 11pm which is an achievement. I think the wine at tea time puts me off doing anything afterwards. I'll keep it up until 1 Aug and then decide if I want to keep it up until we go on hols a week later.

swedishmum · 27/07/2007 09:19

Tigermoth, hope your ds enjoys Devon - as you say, timing's definitely right. It's so unfair.
Im addicted to my Protect and Perfect as well - need to go to buy my 3rd bottle. Don't know if it's that or the Liz Earle stuff but my skin's better than all the years I used Clinique/Clarins/Estee Lauder etc.
Not been very healthy, but at least I've had more sleep - dd3 hasn't climbed in my bed in the middle of the night for a week now.
I haven't heard from my dad or his friend - I'm going to wait to see if he turns up to our party tomorrow, and who with!!

winnie · 27/07/2007 11:45

TS, love your blog

yoyo & duchess, stop beating yourselves up about your actual dress size and congratulate yourself on all of your numerous exercise achievements

Tigermoth, well done with the swimming. Enjoy Devon

Swedishmum, good luck with the party

Ds and I went to Avebury early this morning. The sun was shining and the place was empty. We had a good stomp. Now it looks like rain again so I am extra glad we got out early today. Unless ds is at his Dads I finding it quite difficult to do 10,000 steps at the moment. We are off to see Harry Potter tonight finally. Must not eat icecream... must not eat icecream... must not eat icecream...

Had a nice long and fairly brisk dog walk this morning, weather was beautiful. Then had picnic at the park and spent 3 hours haring about after the DCs. Did remember sunscreen for all and we all drank lots of water and ate lots of fruit. And I've remembered to take my iron supplement everyday.

www - you're doing well with limiting the wine and well done for early night. I wish I could.

Winnie - hope you enjoy Harry Potter, I'm hoping to see it next week.

tigermoth - lucky you fitting swimming in, I haven't braved the outdoor pool yet this year

t/shell - your hens look really at home! Speckledy is very pretty. I've just scrubbed all the blood and feathers out of our hen house . I will be reinforcing it all and putting electric fencing round it tomorrow and then hope to get new hens on Sunday. It will be our anniversary present!

Oh god oh god I am back, and oh I am never, ever, ever EVER, drinking alcohol again, not once. Not after last night's do chez DP's mate Tory Ben. Oh god. Have delegated phoning the lovely teenage babysitter to apologise for being so absolutely and repulsively hammered to Mr Inferior. Why oh why do people do Catered Events with masses of canableedinpes and loads of wine and NO PROPER FOOD or indeed water?

Whole evening felt like falling into strange alternative universe populated by David Cameron clones. Navy blazers. The only one consolation was that one DCclone nearly fell over when I said I was 44 and said he'd thought I was around 30. Clearly he too was not exactly sober, but in the somewhat constricted scale of things this is at least consoling.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 28/07/2007 21:05

at MI and the drunken tories.

I have re-fenced the chicken pen aided by rather too many coffee & biscuit breaks. But I have redeemed myself by running 5k this evening. In total I've clocked up nearly 18,500 steps on the Moron today - I think that's a personal best!

Now off for a shower (because I stink) .

yoyo · 28/07/2007 21:56

MI - sounds great fun though and am sure babysitter found it highly amusing. A very drunk friend once regaled our teenage babysitter with tales of rings of the intimate variety. Oh how we laughed. Especially when she said she had to be up early the next day to do Sunday School.

WideWebWitch · 28/07/2007 22:10

heh heh heh heh at never drinking again, yeah, right, me too

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 28/07/2007 22:11

Although at tories

OP posts:
winnie · 29/07/2007 10:03

Lol at MI. I have to say though that in order to cope with Tory Cameron clones I would have to had got plastered so sympathies too

Duchess, how are the hens? And well done on the running. It's very impressive

Equally, well done on the skipping Sobernow. Nice to see you back

Could someone please remind me of why one shouldn't get on the scales every day as overnight I have gained 4lbs!!!! And now I feel miserable

I am going to post what I've eaten each day this week in the vain hope of refocussing efforts as the date is looming and I need to feel fab. I got up this morning and put on a rather old dvd that was free with Red Magazine sometime ago. It's called Drop a dress size in 4 weeks and there are exercises on it to tone up with. I did them and thought "is that it?" Which was rather shocking. Although it advises 3x cardio and 3 x toning days a week I just found it hard to believe that the small amount of toning exercises would really have an effect. Maybe that says more about how my fitness levels have improved. However, I am going to give it ago in order to smash through my latest goal and get rid of the annoying stomach roll which sits above my jeans. Although it is a novelty for me to actually see I have a waist

Also, I knew it would happen, the date looms and my entire body has erupted with spots. Help...

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

WideWebWitch · 29/07/2007 10:12

Winnie, think positive, don't stress, bet they go before the date. When is it? Good news on fitness front.

Not a good day for me yesterday. Drove to London to get ds and then to my sisters. She wasn't in so we came home again. Not a good day (4 hours driving, yuk) but redeemed by coming home and taking children out for supper and letting them stay up late to watch a film with us, so all's well that ends well:

granola
chapatis (LOADS of them) and potato and pea saag at ex MILS
then we went to local Indian for supper with children
popadums with loads of lime pickle/chutney
tandoori chicken (not too bad)
keema pilau rice
garlic naan
Chablis
Baileys on-the-house-please
then came home, white Burgundy
pralines and cream Haagen Daaz - I've got to stop buying it, haven't I?
not enough water
late night
but very happy, children brought me and dh breakfast and coffee in bed and didn#t get up until 8am so that's good
