WideWebWitch · 16/07/2007 09:27

Hello! This is week four of the SIXTH boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun

Anyone who feels like it, post how you've been feeling since doing this and why you want to keep doing it. Add what you want to achieve at the end of it too if you want to.

Cheers m'dears.

Oh Marina, I am so sorry. Please please let me know if I can be any help.

I swam this evening again, with that zeal and virtue only a Monday can produce . I have to say I am good at breakfast - I cannot function, can't leave the house, without a sustaining bowl of porridge or the like; but the thing about the evening is that it's pleasant, it's social (even if in reality that means DP and me grunting relatively amicably at each other from our respective books).

I have not lost any weight .

WideWebWitch · 16/07/2007 22:27

Day 3 of antibiotics and no alcohol

granola with blueberries
blueberries
strawberries
raspberries
a plum
a wholemeal sandwich with salami, french mustard and butter (oops)
a poussin
lots of water
no exercise but I am feeling weak and pathetic

and going to bed NOW.

winnie · 17/07/2007 05:25

Yes it is early
I can't sleep. I woke up at 3 and my mind is doing over time worrying about everything but I am also thinking about starting a business Am I mad?

If I can lose weight, if I can learn to drive, if... if... if ... I can bloody well start my own business

I now weigh the absolute lowest I have weighed for 8 years My goal will have me weighing less than I did at 16

If ds was at his dads (which he is not, he is snoring here in my bed) I would go for a walk. I feel so wide awake.

happy Tuesday all.

swedishmum · 17/07/2007 05:35

Morning Winnie. I can't sleep either.

swedishmum · 17/07/2007 05:37

Of course you can start a business (says the woman who has spent the last 3 months intending to set up a website!) - hey, you lost all that weight, you can do anything!

WideWebWitch · 17/07/2007 08:09

Hi Winnie, I know that feeling of waking and thinking of all the things you have to do/are worrying you. Of course you can start a business but don't ask too much of yourself. Do it if it makes you feel good and stuff but don't put yourself under too much pressure. Wow at being your lowest weight for 8 years, well done!

I am feeling a bit better but still grim enough to not go to work today, my throat is still rasping. Last night I stoood up too quickly and got spots in front of my eyes and panicked but= as dh pointed out, it was because I stood up too quickly Still, I do feel much better for no wine, I have another 7 days of antibiotics and therefore another 7 days of no wine which is probably a good thing, that'll make it 10 days, which is practically a habit innit?

So far half a boiled egg, some toast and some super antioxidant smoothie. And I slept from 11 last night until 7am so that's a good 8 hours, wow, what a difference that makes.

Happy Tuesday everyone.

tortoiseSHELL · 17/07/2007 08:39

Sorry you're still feeling grim www, hope the ABs kick in soon.

I have one thing to say...

we have an egg!

WideWebWitch · 17/07/2007 09:37

Oh how exciting Ts, are you going to cook it?

OP posts:
tortoiseSHELL · 17/07/2007 10:15

I think it will be eggs for tea - now, how to cook them???

morning all. Hope everyone if feeling better. (sending positive vibes to Marina as I missed her post yeaterday). How was/are the eggs Tshell? Perversly I'm more nervous of home produced eggs than shop bought ones. This may or may not be because we used to get our eggs from my MIL who had the mankiest chickens alive! They were like medieval chickens with bits missing off them. Tasty eggs though!
Winne - what type of business are you planning? It's really exciting and as swedishmum said, you can do anything.
I'm on fine bootcamping form this week so feeling a little smug. It has finally stopped raining (for the moment anyway), the sun is shining and everything seems a little nicer. oh, and my ds has learned to walk in the last few days and is so pleased with himself! [proud & ever so slightly teary bammamama]

bundle · 17/07/2007 12:36

oh marina, sorry to hear your news

Marina · 17/07/2007 14:01

Hello all, thanks for the kind words about mum. My sis and dad are there with her now (the CAU at Queen Marys in Sidcup appears to be located in some kind of bender in the car park, mum has been prodding the bedside walls crossly to show the doctors they flex , it all sounds a bit like Grandma in the Giles cartoon) and will be getting the clinical low-down hopefully. I am going along tonight, but not taking the dcs I think. They have contributed touching drawings of robots and vegetables instead.
Hope you feel properly better soon www, that sounds like a horrible infection and winnie, you've achieved so much on the weight loss front - how marvellous To be even mulling over new projects and challenges shows just what a strong person you continue to be IMO
And fab news about the eggs TS, this new lot of hens clearly don't mess about
Am eating OK, not drinking, but have too much stuff to do to focus on exercise right now
A happy if muggy day to all XXX

Marina · 17/07/2007 14:01

Oh and bamamama, how lovely that ds is walking. I bet he cannot stop grinning at his own brilliance

tortoiseSHELL · 17/07/2007 14:10

Marina - have you discovered Harry and the Robots book? Dd ADORES it, it's the same series as Harry and the dinosaurs. Harry's nan is ill and has to go into hospital, so he makes her robots to BLAST away the illness.

Marina · 17/07/2007 14:17

We have it torty but I think its true meaning has passed them by until now. I might hunt it out for bedtime tonight. It is a lovely book, isn't it.

tortoiseSHELL · 17/07/2007 14:36

Dd's has a CD with it, that she listens to pretty well every night. I love those books - they are really good to read for the adults as well!

TheDuchessOfFawkesBride · 17/07/2007 19:42

Hello all.

Marina - glad your mum is well enough to be complaining

tshell - of eggs. I am so missing the 'brauuu's!

Go Winnie!

I had a very short run this morning after school drop. It did make me cough again but I need to get back into it.

Then went to have lunch with the pre-school staff, Chairs perk , and I ate loads of BBQ chicken, coleslaw, cheese & tomato bread, rice salad, green salad and some puddings... They looked so good that I couldn't choose between the victoria sponge topped with thick cream and strawberries or the blackberry mousse. So I had both. Twice.

Er, I have drunk lots of water and moisturised etc! And no wine because I was driving.

yoyo · 17/07/2007 20:39

Hello everyone. DH is home and so I haven't been able to get at the computer.

Marina - hope your Mum is okay. Have they indicated when she will be able to go home? Also how is your bruising healing? It sounded a nasty fall.

WWW - hope you feel better soon. It is hard to be motivated when you are under the weather. DH insists on a large evening meal - I ate so much less when he was away.

WWW, Winnie and Batters - congratulations on your weight losses.

I am feeling stressed and a bit tearful again. Trying to keep focussed but the upheval associated with the next few months overwhelms me sometimes. The DC finish school tomorrow then I must sit down and break the summer into achievable blocks and attempt to do something every day. I am keeping up with the gym as I don't think about the move and job when I am there. Food hasn't been brilliant and have been drinking wine with DH in the evening. Have an evening with friends tomorrow so Bootcamp rules will be ignored. Back to normal on Thursday.

motherinferior · 17/07/2007 20:46

Marina, glad she is giving 'em hell.

I ate quite virtuously today, but have managed to hurt my leg in some way and am hobbling, stiffly, in manner of our 87 year old next door neighbour, except he's got a whizzy new 'lectric wheelchair, DP saw him whizzing off to the pub (Mr Next Door is a testament to eight decades of booze and fags, he really is - he may lurch, he may totter, he may fall down on his own doorstep but boy he keeps going, I should be so lucky).

Marina, really sorry to hear about your mum and hope today goes well.

www, poor you. I am just about better now. It took ages!

tortoiseSHELL · 18/07/2007 08:52

Last night - poached eggs on toast

For anyone still vaguely interested (after I've bored you all silly about these hens) there are a couple of pics of the old 2 on my profile - for limited time only! Will try and put the new 2 on sometime tonight, they are very pretty!

winnie · 18/07/2007 09:34

Marina, hope things are improving with your Mum.

All going well here bootcampwise. Tried on a pile of clothes I'd been keeping to 'get into' yesterday. I got into all of them however, most looked too dated, no longer me or swamped me and most are in a bag for the charity shop now along with all my larger size clothes

In answer to all of your kind enquiries about what kind of business. It is creative doing something I really, really love. That is all I will say for now. I am so burnt out re my job right now I feel I need a 'get out of jail card' and this will be it. Have a plan thoroughly worked out in my head. Now I need to commit it to paper and start looking for a smallish amount of funding. I feel really excited and positive about it

Glitterfairy, I am assuming your absent because of the move & the new job. Just in case you read this 'Good luck this week', thinking of you x

bamamama · 18/07/2007 12:25

Winnie - am very intruiged (even if I can't spell it). When can we know what you're up to??? .
Marina, hope you and and your mum continue to recover and yes, ds has the most perfect grin when he toddles around. He may look like a drunk zombie but he's damn proud of himself!
T/shell - any more eggs?
I've had a very virtuous couple of days bootcamp wise - no wine, lots of water, early nights etc. As some have said before this thread is really motivating it stopped me having toast for breakfast (yogurt and strawbs instead) although I suspect that when in the mood for wine I'll justify myself by thinking of motherinferiors neighbour instead
