WideWebWitch · 16/07/2007 09:27

Hello! This is week four of the SIXTH boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun

Anyone who feels like it, post how you've been feeling since doing this and why you want to keep doing it. Add what you want to achieve at the end of it too if you want to.

Cheers m'dears.

I am having a good weekend and feeling good about myself. I have dropped 4 sizes from my top half and 3 from my bottom half and can now more or less shop anywhere again! Buying a t-shirt off the peg for £3 this weekend has been a marvelous revelation! Will always have enormous norks but at least they won't ever be what they once were lol Hurrah!

Dd dyed my hair today (she has been doing this for years and is very good). My hairdresser was stunned when she discovered that I wasn't going to another salon to get my hair dyed but dd was doing it. So the roots have gone and the grey is covered up and dd had the energy and motivation to suggest she did it for me (which is the best bit)

Did drink wine last night but it is the weekend. Went for along walk yesterday too and shall be off out for another long walk later.

swedishmum · 23/07/2007 00:40

Yes, I know I'm up too late. Winnie, sounds great that dd is doing your hair. Good family moment! I'm at the stage of needing hair colour - can't keep plucking out the grey hairs any more! Don't know my dd would be much good though...
I bought some Liz Earle stuff last week and I love it. Skin's fine - just need rather less of it now. I'm trying the John Travolta approach of eating what you normally would, but only half of it. If I can stick to it...

swedishmum · 23/07/2007 00:42

Sorry that sounded far more trite than intended Winnie - sounds like a really positive thing for your dd to be doing your hair, and to be so good at it too. Really pleased it's something you can do together.

winnie · 23/07/2007 08:35

swedishmum, that didn't sound trite at all
I've had an enjoyable weekend with dd and we have really talked too which has been really productive and has to be a step in the right direction.

I've been using Liz Earle products for a long time now and I love them.

As for the eating what you would only less of it. That is what has been working for me

I went to bed at 10.20 and went straight to sleep & was woken up at 7.30 by ds & x at the door I must have my holiday head on lol.

Batters - hope your DP is okay today. Often seems more frightening the day after when you realise what could have happened.

Winnie - you have done so well to have gone down by so many sizes. Glad to see that you actually bought something new that fits! Great news that DD and you were able to talk - bonding over hair dye (can't wait until DD1 is trustworthy enough to do mine).

I'm doing okay. Keeping up with the gym and am preparing in earnest (well a couple of hours a day) for my job. Wish I could do more but not easy with the DC running around and all the stuff to do with the move. Every little helps! Put on 3 lb since DH has been back from his trip - didn't drink when he was away but otherwise all things are the same. Blast. Absolute proof if any were needed. Need an early night after a soak and a whole body exfoliation. This crappy weather has made it easier to hide myself away. Have to take DC swimming so need a bit of tlc to brave a costume!

winnie · 23/07/2007 17:13

batters Glad dp is ok. What a nightmare. Hope you are ok? I think these things can have a huge impact on those close to victim too. I am so sorry & on your behalf.

yoyo, well done for keeping at it
Enjoy your early night and pampering

I have eaten an homemade chocolate chip cookie (ds and I have been baking). Am off for a walk in the rain with ds later to splash in puddles, & get rid of some energy, hopefully that will help get rid of the cookie

glitterfairy · 23/07/2007 18:19

Hello everyone. I am scooting in under a huge black veil as last week was new job and move and diet and running went out of the window.

Am going to try harder this week!

Winnie well done.

WideWebWitch · 23/07/2007 18:46

Hello! I'm sorry, forgot to start new thread this morning, shall we stay on this one for the week, even though we know it's week five really? Since people have started posting on it, seems reasonable.

Batters, so sorry about dp, how terrible, poor him.

Winnie, so pleased to hear about dd, that's fab news. And really wow at dress sizes, that's fantastic.

GF, you are excused!

Yoyo, yes, you have proof re the wine, me too.

SS, well done on making hair appt, do show us if you feel like it

where is dingle?

Swedishmum, absolutely re that approach

And where are the other bootcampers, hey? Hey?

Last night dh and I had half a sirloin steak each from the local farm shop, ohmygod, it was wonderful, you could slice through it like butter, it was so tender. I had some in some ciabatta with butter and horseradish, oh wow, it was fantastic. No wine, still, that was day 8 last night.

And I am def losing weight as a result I know, I know. AND I feel great. So despite finishing my antibiotics today I will stay on the wagon for a while I think, it's definitely the way to do it. Plus I am sleeping well, my skin is better, I have more energy, blah blah. All blindingly obvious stuff but it took an enforced period of abstinence to remind me.

This thread is definitely helping with eating well too, althoguh I MUST get anothe rmoron and start walking again. Dh has taken to running and is keeping it up v well, must re motivate myself to walk.

So 100g granola
apple
grapes
blueberries
a peach
chicken and veg roll
half a packet of Tyrell lemon and chilli crisps and then I put the rest in my bin and threw water on them to stop
and came in and ate some lentils and veg with chilli sauce and some 3 bean salad
no wine for 9th night running
and dh is making cod tonight, may have some but right now I'm not hungry.
Overslept this mornig since I set the alarm for 6.15 pm but it meant I had 8 hours sleep.

bamamama · 23/07/2007 19:52

Hello all, hope everyone is well. I trust noone here has been flooded?? Does this explain those missing? (hope not). Batters - hope your dp is ok after such a terrible experience. Winnie, amazing about the dress sizes. How is the new project coming along??
Well, today the sun has been shining but had lots on so didn't get my walk. May try later once dh gets home. 3 weeks today and we fly to Oz and you'd think I'd be a little bit more organised (and you'd think we'd have the visa's by now). I think I'm still in denial about the whole thing (although excited in a rather abstract way) so I reckon it'll hit me in about a week then the bootcamping will become an adrenaline fuelled rush. Anyhoo, off to have buffalo olives, roast potatoes and leeks. No wine tho! ttfn!

feetheart · 23/07/2007 21:03

Right, first day of summer holidays and I REALLY need this thread (and a kick up the backside!)
Haven't eaten very well (too much yummy flapjack), haven't drunk enough water and haven't left the house so very little excercise. I was also awake at 4am and up at 5am this morning as my brain was whirring.
I think if I try and post most days the shame might keep me in line a little better

Fantastic news on the dress sizes Winnie and I'm so glad you had a positive w/e with DD.

WWW - glad the lurgy has retreated and the wine-free you is feeling good.

To those who have just moved/are about to move - I salute you. Have only done it a few times in my life and am not in a hurry to repeat it. Bamamama - I'm breaking out in a sweat just thinking about your move

DH out so off to do ironing whilst watching TV (because it will make me feel virtuous and mean it is his turn next time!!)

WideWebWitch · 24/07/2007 06:53

Right, I've ordered a new Moron, hope it comes tomorrow and will start walking again.

I just realised I have those awful tablets that I could start taking for my toe infection. They're so toxic to the liver that it's one week on then 3 weeks of not taking them so I think I will start them and see if they make my toe better. And it'll be another enforced period of abstinence.

feetheart, sorry you had a bad night, I know that feeling of waking and thinking too much.

bamamama, oz is a good incentive.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 24/07/2007 06:54

Btw, didn't eat anythnig else last night as I wasn't hungry. And that was day 9 of no alcohol. Went to bed too late though but still, I'm high on happiness atm.

OP posts:
suzywong · 24/07/2007 06:56

so how is everyone going? do you all look as though you have discovered the Fountain of Youth?

I have been off wheat for 4 days and lost 2 pounds. But we'll see if that was just a cruel trick played by my love handles

Hi just signing in with large veil. Slinking out again on seeing how well you are all doing...

winnie · 24/07/2007 19:53

omg... I have agreed (in theory) to going on a date. I think this thread is making me over confident! I feel sick now

WideWebWitch · 24/07/2007 20:31

Ooh Winnie, how exciting! When?

Wong, come back 'ere. Other threads, you've been on other threads? Have you been toying with those vegetable and fruit lot?

Batters, well done on dress sizes, ooh, sparkling wine, mmm. I have several bottles of cold wine in the fridge but don't feel tempted by them atm as I'm feeling so great. This will pass, I know and I am on holiday next week but still, intend to start walking again soon, my moron should be here tomorrow or the next day.

today
100g granola
homemade smoked salmon sandwich with wholemeal bread, lemon juice, black pepper and a tiny bit of butter
an apple
a peach
red and white grapes
some homemade bean salad (kidney, cannelini and chickpea)
6 small organic chipolatas
a white chocolate Magnum (I KNEW there was something else!) 250 cals, not as bad as I thought it would be.
lots of water
no exercise
went out briefly at lunchtime and used sunscreen
and already in my pyjamas, make up off, so WILL have an early night.

WWW & Batters lol... I am not going to say too much about it other than it is Thursday and I am petrified and have decided I am the fattest thing ever and can't possibly go I've been to Sainsburys tonight and stocked up on berries and spinach and the like so I can detox tomorrow as I am feeling really bloated. (Which probably means I will come out in spots for Thursday). Nearly told x this evening (which would have been wrong). Oh my life is so complicated...

Batters, well done on the dress sizes too. We are doing so well... despite the fact that tonight I AM the fattest person in the world WWW, hope the new Moron motivates you. I've been walking every day now for a while and I really miss it if I can't go. Batters have you ever reset your Moron to equate with your new weight as mine seems slightly out of sinc (SP?) with my stride suddenly and I wondered if losing weight could be why.

'Speak' to you all tomorrow

yoyo · 24/07/2007 23:30

Oh Winnie... how fantastic! A date. I am so excited for you. It will be fine. Stay positive. Thursday is Winnie night. Will be sending happy date vibes your way. I might get a little drunk on your behalf.

suzywong · 25/07/2007 00:43

No, there's no way I would toy with the fruit and veg lot. Too twee and smug. Nauseating thread titles. Nah. Not me.

Will scan thread to get the gen on Winnie and her good date news but in the meantime, ooooohhh good for you!

tortoiseSHELL · 25/07/2007 16:45

Thought I would just share with you all that dh is on ABs, for, wait for it... possible Lyme disease!!!! I'm sure he's fine, but thought was ironic so soon after marina's dh!!! Hope he's better btw! I read the list of symptoms to dh, and he reluctantly agreed to go to the GP. Men eh?!

WideWebWitch · 25/07/2007 20:15

Oh no TS! I hope he's better soon.

Winnie, we will think of you tomorrow night then. you are NOT fattest woman ever, I AM and anyway, you have lost LOTS of dress sizes and I bet you have a lovely time, hope so

Wong, glad to hear it. I thought "float like a butternut, sting like a pea" was particularly inspired but I still prefer this thread.

Batters, you're doing so well on the walking, well done.

Not bad

100g granola
1 piece of toast with butter and orange marmalade, just really fancied it at work when someone went for coffees
an apple
a peach
a homemade wholemeal smoked salmon sandwich
some grapes
a few slices prosciutto
and dh has just come back from the Indian and they gave us the wrong meal, so he's got to go back again grrr, but I have ordered a saintly tandoori chicken and STILL have had no wine, so this is day, what, ten, I think. No, just counted, it's TWELVE days. Give me a medal someone.

I'm slightly tempted to drink but won't as tomorrow is my last day at work until 6th August so I'll wait until then. Moron hasn't arrived yet but hope it does tomorrow.

We are a very depleted thread, is everyone on holiday? OR gorgeous alreadY?
