Xing I have some red, fitflop leather ones, that have lasted years as they obviously don't get worn as much, they are very plain and almost shoe like.

Elle, I really like the braided tevas but I tried a similar style on in the fabric ones and the ankle strap was too low on my feet . The Pterna, via Etsy, sandals I bought last year are lovely, I would definitely recommend them, they adjusted the straps for my feet too, really good service.

I seem to be on a metallic theme atm, maybe it's spring Grin. I've bought a silver bangle from the same Etsy place I bought my silver cuff (I'll try to link when I'm not on my phone), the pewter high tops, I've ordered a dark silver crossbody bag from zalando and the silver tevas recently. I might need to start looking at other colours, they are all replacing old items, in my defence Blush.

CatherineMaitland I'm only looking at sandals to replace old ones. I bought a couple of pairs last year, which were due to having only 1 decent pair and then we had a heatwave! But I agree, my summer clothes last ages, as we don't often have much of a summer and since having dc's, we no longer have a hot weather holiday where I might wear them.

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 17/04/2019 04:19

I’m about to buy my third pair of Tevas, they usually last me two seasons but I do wear them loads. I go for the simplest ones (not the tractor sole that my DP favours) and find them super comfortable.

Incidentally I’m in Paris this week. So so sad about Notre Dame, the area around there was full of people yesterday but eerily quiet, it was like mass mourning.

The Bobbies shop in St Germain had the mustard sandals in sz 40, was it Maxima who was looking for them? They looked lovely although I didn’t get on with the ankle strap, they did make my legs look stumpy.

quirkychick · 17/04/2019 07:57

This is the bangle I've ordered from Etsy www.etsy.com/uk/listing/507748539/silver-bangle-adjustable-hammered?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=wild+nora&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&bes=1 from the same seller as my cuff. I'm slowly swapping out some of my no longer silver plate bangles for silver ones as I get so fed up with the silver plate coming off.

This thread seems to be turning into the comfortable sandals thread Grin. At least the weather is turning warmer, so there's more chance I'll be able to wear them. Jon I think I've had my teva 2 or 3yrs, but they get worn loads and I walk loads. Last year, as it was so hot, I wore sandals for a lot of the summer.

Floisme · 17/04/2019 08:40

Lovely bangle quirky. I keep meaning to make more of an effort with Etsy. The only time I bought from them I did it without checking where the seller lived. It turned out to be somewhere like Arizona, took weeks to arrive and I ended up having to cough up more in custom charges than I'd paid for the item itself.

I can't help much with sandals as I've hardly worn them since getting my feet badly burned a few years ago. I'm normally fanatically careful about avoiding the sun too. But what I do think is that feet are funny looking and that there is no point trying to disguise this. Better to embrace the funny-ness I say.

botemp · 17/04/2019 09:18

That's very pretty, quirky, I like it in gold too but that's quite a price difference. Also liking the other slim minimalist bangles on there too. I don't wear much real silver as I have quite acidic skin and that tarnishes it quicker than most otherwise I'd be tempted to put in an order.

I tend to buy sandals when I come across them as I know what a pain it is to replace a pair. Was quite disappointed in the Saint Laurents being unwalkable as I really liked them. I do have a bit of an issue with the comfy types as they often have really lightweight soles and that always feels so off to me for whatever reason.

quirkychick · 17/04/2019 11:36

It is quite a price difference between gold and silver, I'm quite glad I mostly wear silver, bo.

flo I always check the delivery charge on Etsy, a similar bangle from Israel cost almost twice as much again in postage! Also I'd bought from her before so knew the service, quality etc. was good.

quirkychick · 17/04/2019 11:37

I meant to add, that's a shame about the Saint Laurent's, bo.

Floisme · 19/04/2019 11:18

Slight derail for news of my jumpsuit. (I'm still monitoring it and it will always be mine even I end up being the only poster without one) and they've now put one out with sleeves Do you think they've been listening? They could do still better though as I prefer the other simple V neckline and the sleeves will probably end smack in the gnarliest part of my elbows. It's also the dreaded 'cotton mix' so may turn out to be floppy and sweaty.

I'm still not buying - I just can't afford it at the moment - but hoping something might still be in stock at sales time.

ToEllewithIt · 19/04/2019 12:08

I think I prefer that version of the jumpsuit flo would be a nice work piece.

Those YSL sandals are pretty. A version of the tribute?

The brown trousers arrived. I’m a little unsure. I feel like a bit I think I prefer that version of the jumpsuit flo would be a nice work piece.

There seems to be an echo in here...

Floisme · 19/04/2019 12:14

Oh I really like those trousers. Your legs look a mile long and I think they give you a waist too.

I’m about to fly to NYC and frantically updating google maps with all of botemp’s recommendations. Gratifyingly we’ve booked one of the recommended restaurants by pure chance. I will try to take some photos.

botemp · 19/04/2019 12:54

I actually need to update that sheet, Name, only recently noticed it's only partially filled in. Enjoy yourself in NYC, which restaurant are you going to?

At the risk of also sounding like an echo, I still owe some COS pics. Will get them on here this weekend, I hope. I need to do my annual and business taxes and want to get a trip to Paris finalised as well but the weather is far too lovely at the moment, well over 20°.

I was briefly Confused about the trousers as they do not look like dark green leather leggings from Joseph. These were from Sezane iirc? What's the brown like, the ones I've come across lately all seem to be a bit muddy and 90s, yellow and green undertones, that tend to look a bit 'dirty' on me if I have even a hint of a (fake) tan and the sun is out, annoyingly as brown is a good colour for me. I'm on the fence with the shape, it suits you well but the Sezane image was very laissez-faire and casual (which I assume was the appeal) whilst these feel more formal. I suspect the model wore them higher on the waist and had no hips.

Yes, they're a flat version of the tribute sandals. I actually have an espadrille version of them in the back of my closet in khaki but they need repairing. I have wondered about going down half a size as I usually size up, perhaps I could actually walk in those...

botemp · 19/04/2019 12:56

I've lost the plot, I could have sworn a poster with Name change some number had posted about heading to NYC now it says Elle. It's not that hot for me to be this confused yet...

Nearly forgot, for those without a giant to do list, came across Loïc Progeny's recently launched YouTube channel. He's behind a lot of French fashion documentaries like Signé Chanel and he has a lovely little mini documentary of the making of th last Jacquemus show and now I suddenly desperately want a leopard print trench. English subtitles available if you switch them on:

I like those trousers, Elle.

This hot weather made me think of flo not wearing sandals due to sunburn. I had a similar experience a few years ago when I burnt my scalp. I'm now quite hysterical about wearing a hat in any kind of sunshine. We have particularly bad "burning weather" here, as it can be quite cool and breezy leading you to not realise you're turning a nasty shade of lobster as the sun is so strong. In fact, it was this time of year too, catching me out when I'd been covered up all winter against the cold.

I will watch that video later, thanks bo.

botemp · 20/04/2019 10:20

Elle, NYC sheet now updated with additional addresses (highlighted in light green, I'll do a rearrange per borough at a later point as that's pretty indicative of what they sell, eg. Upper East Side errs on preppy/conservative, etc.).

If you want a shortlist, top picks would be, INA, Tokio 7, TheRealReal, SoHo Housing Works (Crosby St), Pilgrim.

OP posts:
botemp · 20/04/2019 10:52

Promised COS pics, if the dress had been available in a size smaller I definitely would have ordered it. It's that magical lightweight but crisp poplin cotton that can be worn on hot days and still be breezy. I was surprised how nice it was as it didn't look that exciting on the hanger and feared it would be a bit shapeless which it wasn't. I had to fasten it too much to sit properly I
this size but it may be of interest to others, especially if you want to cover up (sun or whatever) and not combust.

Really liked the material on the trousers, it's that linen cotton weave in white and beige that vaguely looks like a furniture fabric but holds its shape really well which is accentuated by the fixed seams on the front and back. Kind of small fitting for COS standards as the waist fit me well, length wasn't right for me though and in shortening them they'd likely stick on my calves.

Shirt was a random grab, would probably work well as maternity wear, I suppose.

@botemp I am a lurker on this thread - don't post but am an admirer of your style. Hope you don't me popping on to ask if you would be able to post a link to the lovely trousers and shirt in your second picture just below? They look really lovely.

Floisme · 20/04/2019 11:31

You look lovely in that dress bo. I have been known to moan at Cos for not having more local branches but it's probably just as well for me at the moment that there isn't one too close by. I'd be totally skint.

Ditto Margaret Howell who, ever since I bought those trousers in the sale, have mistaken me for a woman of substance as well as style. So I keep getting these bloody emails.... I know I could ask them to stop but I'm already hooked. The latest is her Irish linen collection. I can't wear most yellows but I think this shirt would work really well for me. And while many of you know my opinion of linen trousers, I bet these wouldn't give you saggy arse syndrome.
Which reminds me, did anyone get to her sample sale in the end?

botemp · 20/04/2019 12:01

Thanks for that, Flo, I thought I had successfully managed to escape the lure of that email about Irish Linen by ignoring it but now you have me drooling over some linen trousers Envy I like that yellow too, it's an odd one that works well with sludge colours which usually are unexpectedly good colours for the usual shit summers we have but will look a bit odd in a tropical destination. More companies should be designing for shit summers, I've pulled out all my S/S now and I was sort of aware I had this gap last year but since we hardly had any 'meh' weather it wasn't a massive issue but I'm definitely lacking in 'meh' weather clothes.

Ella, I can't find the shirt online, it was just in, so will probably show up at some point. Other links:

@botemp Grinof course all is forgiven! I've been following your thread for ages. Thanks for the link - the trousers in particular are really lovely and you wear everything so well Smile

timeisnotaline · 20/04/2019 21:52

Trousers look very nice elle, they look a bit crisper than the picture ones did. In the front view they don’t give you a waist and possibly should sit a little higher to be perfect but you are so slender you really don’t them to manufacture you a waist, and the side view is spot on.

That dress is gorgeous. And so much more feminine on you bo than in the picture where it leans more to boilersuit, it’s going on my long list! (Most of which is never purchased).
flo those linen trousers might be crisp but with that cut and lenght I can pretty much guarantee they would stick on my calves when I bent my legs ie sat down. My calves aren’t huge but not skinny. Hope that makes you feel better about them!
I’m back at work so have less time generally now.

Floisme · 21/04/2019 10:08

Thank you time that is a very good point. They would probably not be kind to my thighs either. (But my arse would not sag.....)

I dreamed I had the yellow shirt last night Blush
