What do you think of my wedding dress

Getting married in 3 weeks, low key affair. Just the 4 kids and the 2 of us in a registry office.

Bought a dress I love but DD14 has said she hates it and I look like something from the 80s so has given me a crisis of confidence and thinking maybe this is the wrong choice!

Would appreciate some impartial and objective views.... thanks

What do you think of my wedding dress

Reminds me of needle and thread's style, They're coming back in fashion but like I said, better on younger people otherwise older people just look like they're ageing themselves.

*just read before posting that you said it is needle and thread!

Naturalspirit82 · 27/11/2018 22:03

I love anything that is not main stream and boring. I love this dress! It's very hippy, bride at a 70s festival/understated but with style - go for I it! I too married with only 4 of us at the wedding! I did not want any of the dresses that are sold in wedding shops (not for me at all). You go girl - your rocking that (it's a little fearne cotton style x )

adoggymum · 27/11/2018 22:03

Why haven't you decided to wear a proper wedding dress OP? You can get some lovely simple ones (not too expensive) that I think would look gorgeous! Just out of interest...

I find dresses like the ones shown on here are more 'guest' dresses than bride dresses. It's your special day- you should feel (and look!) amazing! Not half done.

Toooldtobedoingthis · 27/11/2018 22:04

Thanks for all the comments, it's been really useful! Shown thread to DD14 who agrees with most comments about the top half of the dress!

I'm 47 and a 12 bottom and 14 top due to boobs and don't normally do dresses of any sorts so all comments welcome.

I'm going to get 2 of the others suggested here (ASOS and @Beahun ) once received would appreciate your views... please watch out for new thread mentioning dusty old curtains!.... thanks all

Long lace dress m2.hm.com/m/en_gb/productpage.0622106001.html

This is stunning!

Toooldtobedoingthis · 27/11/2018 22:09

@adoggymum 2nd wedding, been together for 10 years, I'm 47 with 4 kids between us. Just want something simple and straight forward - spent the fortune the first time round and it's more about us than the event this time (also realised when we went to get wills done how much the tax man has from the kids if we're not married when we die)... last of the romantics!

I love it!! I could tell straight away it was needle and thread, I adore their dresses!

user1533903238 · 27/11/2018 22:14

I love it. A side note, you have great legs!

Angeladelight · 27/11/2018 22:16

I think it’s lovely! Fancy enough for the occasion but not too over the top.

Theresahairbrushinthefridge · 27/11/2018 22:17

If you are bigger top than bottom have you tried bravissimo clothing? It can be a game changer and make you feel amazing.

SylvesterTheCat · 27/11/2018 22:22

I'm sorry also to say I don't like it. I think you could find something better for your amazing figure.

Not sure about the style of the sleeves and the colour too.

Soz.

Polkapjs · 27/11/2018 22:23

I’m not keen as I think it’s it’s too fussy and you do have knockout legs for a shorter frock like this with maybe cleaner lines and your daughter maybe wants to enjoy you looking more bridal ? Some lovely ones on here. I like the phase eight cream one

TroyKing · 27/11/2018 22:25

You have a lovely figure. The dress does nothing for you and looks frayed and messy.

Something like this is nicer in my opinion

ZackPizzazz · 27/11/2018 22:29

Well it's not really my thing and I don't think it flatters your shape. But do you realise that you can't crowdsource your wedding dress like this? You aren't going to find something we all like and not to put too fine a point on it, we aren't invited. It's YOUR wedding. If you feel good and feel like you look good in the dress, you should tell us all (and your daughter) to do one.

bunintheoven88 · 27/11/2018 22:46

It's fabulous. And cracking pins OP! 🙋🏽‍♀️

fringegrin45 · 27/11/2018 22:55

I think it's a lovely dress but agree that the shape is not the best for your figure. I have big boobs and a thin belt like that at the waist just bunches up the fabric above and below waist.

So if you love the dress could try a wider belt/ribbon.

Or could go for a different dress with a proper waist and an a-line not gathered skirt. I liked that chi chi one a PP linked

FluffikinsTheThird · 27/11/2018 22:56

Lovely

C0untDucku1a · 27/11/2018 22:57

Zach ffs she hasnt actually said we are not invited. Dont out ideas into her head...

ggirl · 27/11/2018 23:07

The dress is lovely but the top half doesn't fit you well , not very flattering .
I love all three that Avegemitesandwich linked to

Highlandheath · 28/11/2018 00:20

I think it's GORGEOUS, I would change the belt - but I always change the belt!!! It really is lovely Have a wonderful day!

FranciscoGoya · 28/11/2018 00:21

To be fair, 47 year olds and 14 year olds don't really have the same taste! Both would most likely be embarrassed to wear the other's clothes!

notangelinajolie · 28/11/2018 00:53

I think it is a lovely dress. Wear it and enjoy your day Flowers

ILoveHumanity · 28/11/2018 01:13

I’m 28 and super jealous of your figure! :)

But hate the dress too sorry!

Tartyflette · 28/11/2018 01:18

I like your original dress but Fenella's suggestion of the silvery Asos dress would be stunning for a winter wedding -- it should certainly show off your legs beautifully. Have a great day! Flowers

snitzelvoncrumb · 28/11/2018 01:20

It's beautiful. The shoes are amazing too.
