I am a hopeless case. I excuse myself stashing makeup because of Brexit. Things might be a lot more expensive soon so buy them now Blush

I have discovered Illamasqua and love it, just bought around 8 pieces of makeup this weekend after swearing I won't add to my stash.

ememem84 · 18/11/2018 20:51

purple yep. We went for a walk this afternoon. Ds dh and me. Ds insisted on one of us holding his hand the whole way (he was still in the pushchair - furthest he’s walked is the length of the living room...) and wanted leaves. We ended up with 5 leaves being carried for dear life.

He is super mischievous. I’ve never known anything like it.

Experiment627 · 19/11/2018 10:00

Right back atcha @ememem84 - walking??? How did that happen????
He sounds adorable!!!!

So I have another empty!!!

  • Body Shop Japanese Camellia velvet moisture body cream: great texture and sinks in fast but not my fav scent

Hello, can I join in? I’ve been lurking for a while. I am a beauty hoarder and I have a terrible secret...

I spend a fortune because I like trying new things, I’m a sucker for a freebie and I browse beauty sites when I’m bored. Seriously Ned to streamline and spend less, cos it’s getting out of hand.

So...my plan for next year is this. I have stockpiled enough skincare, hair care and make-up to do me all of 2019. It’s multiples of the same things, tried and true favourites. I am spending the rest of 2018 using up the odds and sods that didn’t make the grade.

And the plan is to try to buy nothing next year. Nothing. Or at least get as far through 2019 as I can. Then hopefully in 2020 I’ll have some perspective.

SuzeD29 · 19/11/2018 20:27

Finished a ménage hand cream.....sooooo many hand creams left!

ememem84 · 19/11/2018 20:34

I have my last 3 hand creams on the go. One at home downstairs. One on nightstand and one at work. Hoping for a naice one for Christmas.

happy welcome! I’m the same. I think I could easily go until June not buying new stuff.

Except deodorant and shampoo. I will need those. But I suspect probably February for shampoo and maybe January for deodorant.

I really want to streamline. And want to spend less on “stuff”. (Or more on the stuff that I love that I use all the time and that works for me!)

I resisted Bobbi Brown today. They had a promo on in the dept store here where the counter is. 5 years they’ve been there. So spend over £50 and get a free gift. I resisted. I looked. But didn’t need anything.

Alicatz66 · 19/11/2018 21:38

I keep getting Black Friday emails and cards dropping through the letter box !!! Aaaaarrgghh !!!
Only the thought of the advent calendar is keeping my card in my purse

Notreallyhere23 · 19/11/2018 21:44

I might go for the Elle advent calendar if latest in beauty do their usual Black Friday offers.

Although I’m half pondering just buying the bits I definitely want in it full size. But that’s less fun.

Whereas I really shouldn’t be contemplating any of it Sad

Used up an exfoliating shower gel (crap) and a mini benefit mascara that was sticking my eyes together so definitely too old.

OrangeJellySpread · 19/11/2018 23:41

I resisted JL advent calendar today. It'd 30% off, but I just looked at my stash and like a PP I can go through 2019 without buying anything.

SuzeD29 · 20/11/2018 11:55

Combined the dregs of bottles of castor, coconut and olive oil. Heated it all up and slapped all over my hair as a deep treatment. Wish me luck with washing it out 😂😂

Experiment627 · 20/11/2018 19:07

Welcome @HappyGoodHairBear!!!
Great plan!!

@SuzeD29 did it wash out? 😬

OP posts:
SuzeD29 · 20/11/2018 19:09

Yes had to shampoo twice but my hair feels lovely and I used up 3 bottles so all is good 😊

IPokeBadgers · 20/11/2018 21:02

Finished a small Chanel mascara....was a lovely freebie and I'm too tight to buy a full size version. Plus chucked a body shop lip and cheek tint that I'd had for years, didn't really use and was probably also freebie. Drop in the ocean compared to The Stash...

ememem84 · 20/11/2018 21:27

CLose to finishing my Clinique night moisturiser. Have another on standby

Ditched a minging toothpaste today from my desk drawer. Ew.

NiceUnusualDifferent · 22/11/2018 05:51

Happy I’d love to do a no buy. I’m certain I could at least get to June without buying anything if not a full twelve months!

ememem84 · 22/11/2018 08:15

Reached pan on another eyeshadow colour in my naked pallet. When I say reached pan I mean I can see a smidge of pan. Counting it though.

Experiment627 · 22/11/2018 10:55

Good work @SuzeD29 !!!

Step by step @IPokeBadgers - it all counts.

A small speck counts @ememem84 !!!

I have an empty:

  • L'Occitane Verveine hand cream gel 30ml: this is actually quite drying due to high alcohol content. Glad I have finished!

Hello! I've been lurking, but this thread has really made me focus on what I have, and organise it. I separated all the tiny bottles from Advents/beauty boxes into categories, and I'm making my way through them. I'm doing well with shampoos/shower gels but I have no clue what to do with the face oils. Putting oil on my face goes against everything I learned in the 80s Shock. Serums also confuse me. I may need to google a bit.

I'm getting close to finishing a tub of L'Oreal deep conditioner/hair mask and a jar of Benefit face cream which was a gift. It's too heavy for my face but makes a fabulous neck cream.

For 2019 I am going to try using up all the lip products that I have and not buying any more, unless it's the L'Oreal Lip Cream in 110 ("I Got The Power") because I can't help myself with that one. Ditto eyeshadows. I am not going to spend a £30 gift card on the Laura Mercier mini caviar stick collection at Space NK. I am going to buy a new electric toothbrush instead. I also plan to use up the (six, but drugstore, tbf) foundations I current have on the go (darned YouTube beauty videos) before buying a new one. I am only allowed to restock my favourite one.

SuzeD29 · 23/11/2018 07:21

Well it's 7.20am and I've already failed at resisting Black Friday deals 😬😱
Ordered 2 new facial oils and a perfume. Eyeing up a moisturiser that I love but definitely don't need

Notreallyhere23 · 23/11/2018 07:29

So glad I held fire for the Elle calendar, half price today so I did go for it. But it’s got lots of things I actually will need in the next few months in it (I know, classic excuses!)

Finished a shower gel this week but that’s all. Lots of stuff near the end though.

Alicatz66 · 23/11/2018 08:12

Black Friday fail ! Just ordered a load of Liz Earle !! Was a bargain though ...

Experiment627 · 23/11/2018 10:20

Welcome @Suzyloo !!! Sounds like you have a plan!!!!

I think I am sick... I am not even tempted to see what Black Friday deals are out there for beauty ~but I will check for Kwicklet~

I have an empty:

  • Body Shop aloe vera deodorant: really like this but no repurchase as have about 3 other deodorants in my stash to use first
OP posts:
PurpleNailVarnish · 23/11/2018 10:21

Welcome @HappyGoodHairBear. I'm not sure how long my stash will last me, I've got enough hair styling stuff to go all through next year but other things ie body wash and moisturisers I can get through at a fair pace.

My own plan is to replace when I need to, there are bound to be some things I haven't bought before. One of my many samples was a Kat Burki facial oil that I love. Hello @Suzyloo, I agree that putting oil on your face seems counterintuitive, especially as I've always had oily skin but it's working for me. Which facial oils did you buy?

Who needs a drying hand cream @Experiment627?

I love mischievous minis @ememem84, he sounds so gorgeous.

I've resisted Black Friday so far but the day is yet young and I've still got £60 of SpaceNK vouchers to spend.

55 & 56. 2 x Olaplex 3.
The dregs of both bottles, in common with other posts I've read in S&B this worked really well the first time I used it and made no obvious difference after that. I won't buy it again.
57. Huda Beauty lashes Samantha.
These were great while they lasted but I just don't think false lashes are for me.
58 - 64 Holika Holika sheet masks.
I used strawberry, cucumber and rice, I love these, they're fairly cheap and they leave my skin looking good.
65. Alpha H Liquid Gold.
DD gave this to me, it was good when my skin got used to it but I don't know if I want to go through that again waiting for it to start working well!

Samples:
Clark's botanicals deep moisture mask - I loved this and will buy a full size sometime.
Aveda tulsara renew morning creme - I've never found an Aveda product I really liked until now, this was a great moisturiser but too thick for under makeup, I would buy it again.
DCL skin brightening complexion treatment - I liked this, it worked really well for me.
Santal 33 - nope I didn't like the smell at all.
Walden the solid earth - again I didn't like the smell so it's a no.

@Experiment627, I always have a plan - it's the sticking to it that sometimes stumps me Grin. But I went through all the Black Friday emails this morning and unsubbed from most of the retail ones. If endless eye palettes aren't parading through my inbox, I won't think about them.

@PupleNailVarnish, I haven't bought any oils, but I had the Look Fantastic beauty box for a year (just finished, in fact), and there were some in there. And maybe last year's M&S Advent. I have about half a dozen but they make me nervous. I also have a decent-sized sample of Alpha-H, which I've never used before. What problems did you have with it before it started working?

This is day three of using up lip things - I'm wearing a BellaPierre Kiss Proof Lip Creme in "Nude", which is actually a pretty pink. It came in a Look Fantastic box and I love the colour but it's a matt and I hate the dried-down feeling of them. So I'm using a topper with it (also from the box). I wish matt lipsticks would stop being THE thing. In some ranges it's hard to find things that aren't.
