Couldn’t resist any longer and used a 20% code for the Look Fantastic advent calendar. I’m beyond help I think 😮

RiskIt4Biscuit · 01/11/2018 15:06

Experiment627 You asked about the Fresh Sugar Lip Wonder Drops in the old thread.

I've been using it for a week or so now, and I must admit that the product really confuses me.

I quite like the scent/taste of it. And that's probably the best thing about it.

I have no idea what it actually does. It says that it's a "retexturizing and smoothing gel" on the bottle.
It's supposed to be used by dispensing a drop and massaging it over the lips and lip contour area until absorbed.

It doesn't really retexturise (which I thought meant exfoliate).
It may have a slight smoothing effect, but it doesn't seem to work like a balm/moisturising product.
It rolls off the lips/skin around the lips, especially if I get moisturiser/foundation/serum/similar on the areas where it has been applied. It seems to be happening consistently - I've tried with 3 foundations, with and without serum and primer and with a few moisturisers.
I think it rolls off more if using a full drop - if applying less, it seems slightly better.

It doesn't really moisturise either. When it dries on the lips, it seems slightly sticky for a while, then dries down and it doesn't seem to make my lips feel or look softer or more moisturised.

It doesn't make anything last longer or apply better.

I've used it alone, under lip balms and under lipsticks.
Frankly, I don't think it does anything.

Ooh this might be a useful thread for me- I’m desperate to use up some of my stash.

I did a proper written out inventory a couple of weeks ago so I could know what was lurking at the back of the cupboards. I realised I needed nothing.

But then I went to France and somehow came back with 11 Petit Marsellais shower gels, 2 Dop shower gels and a massive tub of hair mask Hmm

I’m dilemmering about a Chanel cc cream I have atm, it’s too pale on me (so much so I used it in my Halloween makeup yesterday) and I know no one that pale, i really hate the texture in my skin and it’s too used to give to a beauty charity or anything now but it cost nearly £50 so I don’t know if I can bring myself to just bin it!

PurpleNailVarnish · 01/11/2018 15:52

Could it work as a concealer @Notreallyhere23?

CraicMammy · 01/11/2018 16:09

Rather than have a beauty advent calendar this year, I’ve decided I’m going to make my own with beauty products from my stash. Cost effective, relieves my guilt for having too many lipsticks, and I get things I know I like!

Notreallyhere23 · 01/11/2018 19:19

purple colour wise probably but not much coverage and quite greasy/slippy so I think it would crease too easily which is a shame.
I should just write it off but it’s so hard!

I’m still finding myself looking at advent calendars. Luckily there isn’t one this year that is ticking all my boxes (ie. more days I don’t like than do) but miniatures are my weakness!

DragonNoodleCake · 01/11/2018 20:48

Hi gang!!

ememem84 · 01/11/2018 21:00

Had to buy a new eyebrow pencil as I used mine up. It was a smashbox one. Good actually but not much in the pencil.

Bought a no7 one. Had a £3 off no7 voucher so it only cost me a £5. Will see how it goes.

ememem84 · 01/11/2018 21:39

AM using micelar water at the moment but it’s not shifting my mascara. I’m wearing burgundy mascara off of ysl. And every morning I dry my face after my shower and the white towel has red smudges. Sigh.

It’s a shame as I liked it. But may have to go back to ttdo as it actually worked.

Experiment627 · 02/11/2018 06:13

Thanks for the review @RiskIt4Biscuit 😘

Welcome @Notreallyhere23!!!
Please may see your list? 🧐 😂

Hiya @DragonNoodleCake !!! How's tricks?

PurpleNailVarnish · 02/11/2018 10:20

@ememem84 As my hair is blonde and fine my eyebrows are a source of frustration because they're always scant.

For years I've been using Benefit Brow Zings but even the lighter shades make my brows look too harsh and 'drawn on'. Maybe because I'm not used to seeing myself with thicker, darker eyebrows.

I'm not sure where this originally came from probably a DD but I've been using this eye pencil thingy for day makeup and I break out the Brow Zings for a night out. It's good, even I can use it and I'm super-clumsy so it must be good!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/11/2018 13:21

Near the end of a Waitrose shower gel ( it;'s orange and something) . I was going to crack open the Nuxe but my shower was too bloody cold to deserve it Shock . But it;ll be an empty by tomorrow.

I plan to restock the Korres when there's a BOGOF somewhere .

Ofthread · 02/11/2018 14:15

Hello, how much actual stuff do you all have? Most of mine fits in one (massive, deep) drawer in the bathroom. I'm thinking that's not too bad... Have ordered M&S advent calendar for the first time!

ememem84 · 02/11/2018 14:56

off I have a big plastic tub full of “spares” a basket on my dresser in the bedroom two make up bags in dresser drawer....4 eyeshadow pallets. So a lot.

Notreallyhere23 · 02/11/2018 15:47

I have a cupboard full of spare stuff, another cupboard that is my everyday stuff, half of dh’s cupboard of spares, a drawer for my everyday makeup, a bag of spare make up and all the shower and hair stuff dotted around.

For me it’s not so much the amount (which is ridiculous though) but the fact that I don’t need 5 mascaras on the go at once or 4 hand creams in the cupboard when I barely use it.
I dream of one carefully curated cupboard full of stuff I love and know works- and no more!

In my head I’m going to tackle it in the same way as debt snowballing- use one constantly until it’s done rather than a bit here or there.

Today I used a Clarins body toning lotion sachet that’s been annoying me for ages. One ticked off the list!

ememem84 · 02/11/2018 17:33

notreally that’s my method too. I’m currently using a navy blue eyeliner pencil. It’s ok. But I prefer my black one and have one in reserve.

ememem84 · 02/11/2018 17:34

Today I finished a clarins hand cream. A mini one. Yay.

DragonNoodleCake · 02/11/2018 21:07

I'm good @Experiment627 just being bad with makeup as usual. How are you and Kwicklet?

tinyradish · 03/11/2018 07:41

Oh I'm so tempted by the M&S calendar! Has anyone gone for it?

In regards to how much stuff - I have 2 big makeup bags of minis & samples & 2 shelves of body lotions/tans etc. Then I have a box of spare facial stuff & a box of mainly lipsticks that I don't use. Makeup that I use or will use is in a desk drawer.

I've recently moved so this is a hell of a lot better than it was as I did a big throwaway/giveaway of a lot of things prior to moving.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 03/11/2018 08:05

Hi guys. Yay another thread!
I’ve been doing well (although just purchased a look fantastic x Mac box; really want to try a few things and looked good!) and have the huge body shop advent calendar that I am sure is going to be lots of moisturiser to add to my supply.

Re storage, I have 2 small cupboards in bathroom and a bit of a shelf with box full of samples! Then make up fills drawer of dressing table with brushes on top.
Perfume fills another shelf of wardrobe and bedside table drawer. I have no hope of ever getting through that but it’s a hobby and lovely to look at!

I’ve been really good with brutally appraising make up. If doesn’t last the day, I’m slinging! No space for rubbish!

So off goes smashbox eye pencil (sales assistant promised the world!), nyx liquid suede in illuminous coral, nyx chubby eye crayons (lasted 10 mins and smudged), tarte liquid lip colour ( sample in a weird brown and didn’t last a coffee) and a collection lip butter. Off to a local deserving teen!
Also finished a too faced primer spray (ok), Holland and Barrett face mask that didn’t do anything! And queen of Hungary spray that I really liked but then saw price and thought no!

Phew!

IPokeBadgers · 03/11/2018 15:01

I finished a perfume today which is always exciting as they generally take such a long time to use up.... Estée Lauder Modern Muse. I like this as an autumn winter perfume, and have another bottle lined up. I really need to organise my bedroom and rotate some of the beauty stuff....a bit of stash shopping required. Plus need to rotate the summer perfumes and bring out the warmer wintery scents.

Being very strict and giving the beauty advent calendar a miss this year. Still have bits and bobs from last year's unopened....and decided if I was going to buy anything as a great it would be something full size that unlike. Know I'm going to be tempted by the elemis QVC TSV next week.

CantChoose · 03/11/2018 15:30

Ooo shiny new thread! Well done everyone :)

I'm ok, @PurpleNailVarnish thanks for asking :) finding second trimester quite challenging, I've been ill for about 4 weeks with one thing after another. But have the house to myself today and have done bugger all. Feeling much better for it!

I've finished a sample tube of a clarins mattifying moisturiser - green tube, can't remember the name. I really liked it but it was a very old sample so I'm not sure they still make it. And I'm not sure I'll ever run out of moisturiser stash anyway Blush

FrowningFlamingo · 03/11/2018 15:31

IPokeBadgers I love finishing a perfume too! I've got loads of mini ones but they aren't sprays which seems to mean they last about a million years.

Experiment627 · 03/11/2018 15:43

@Ofthread I try not to gather everything in one place as the truth would be too shocking 😂😂😂
Basically I have enough make-up to open a store!

@DragonNoodleCake life is for the living!!! Can we help it if we get joy from beauty products?
Kwicklet is doing good - over 6 weeks already!!! 😮

somehow yesterday the M&S calendar just dropped into my basket

@AnotherPinkiePieStory I thought the Body Shop advent was very good value for money.
I admire your criteria and strength to lessen your load of unworthy items! 🙌🏼

I have an empty!!!

  • L'oreal eye shadow thing in a brown colour- sorry cannot be more specific but all writing has worn off

Notreallyhere23 · 03/11/2018 17:06

I finished a sheet mask and a sample bottle of shower cream today.

I’ve decided I really hate sheet masks, I know they are easier to remove but they are just a pain the in arse to get the holes right while touching the concave bits. Won’t buy anymore.

The shower wash was Ayurvedic apparently Hmm but chalky and horrible so glad it’s done!
