just marking my place!

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 26/09/2018 06:59

Morning! Thank you for the new thread Mrs L!

There is a thread in Weddings from a MNer after a special perfume for her wedding day, if anyone fancies popping over.

I have been wearing Superdrug Basil Lime Mandarin for the past 3 days. So crisp, so juicy. I have compared (again) it with PP No Malone and the Superdrug IMO is better as it's sharper, the PP gets a bit sweet after a while.

Branleuse · 26/09/2018 07:03

Im really enjoying autumn perfumes and ones that just didnt smell right in spring and summer and I thought id gone off them, but now its autumn they smell divine again.
Lush - the smell of weather turning (discontinued but i sometimes find it on ebay) and Tom Ford santal blush are making my heart sing at the moment.
I also love artisan bois farine at the moment as it reminds me of pencil shavings and school desks, but in a really pleasant way.

Ooooh lovely new thread!

SOTD is Phi Une Rose de Kandahar. I felt the need for some Tauer-love. Although tbh this isn't one of my absolute faves, it is still a thing of well-crafted beauty.

Been able to wear my favourite again - Bottega Veneta - it just isn't a summer perfume.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 26/09/2018 07:41

Blahblah- I have just packaged my 9ml of Eau my Soul to send to a friend as I LOVE it for the first ten minutes then it just gets far too sweet for me. It reminds me of a Tauer at the beginning, all that spicey woody bit.

@blahblahblah im hesitant to truly recommend it as i think its quite niche. Theres barely any sweetness, its just a really woody doughy smell. I find it intriguing and comforting, but its not the sort of perfume youd wear on a date or anything. Im a bit obsessed the last week though

Branleuse · 26/09/2018 07:56

and i quite often layer it with something vanillary to go out

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 26/09/2018 07:58

I like the idea of barely any sweetness....

Mrs8- I think you and I are Perfume Twins re 4160!

I am jealous of your autumnals and as the temp has dropped by about 15 degrees here (to the point that dp rang to say "cover up, or you'll dieeeeeee") I am dipping my toes into non-summery scents. PP Samsara today. Sweet, but never sickly. Divine.

MrsLucas · 26/09/2018 08:58

L'A's BF is interesting. In the end I fell out with the big wet concrete note. Present also in PW Girl, but not so dominant.

You've now got be pondering between Eau My Soul and White Queen today. This is a bit of a lateral leap, but BF fans might like WQ - although it's (incense) spicier and not at all damp. Besides these big differences, it does have the same non-sweet carb-like quality, once past the citrus opening. It's very easy and satisfying to wear, but unusual.

Aye they are MrsLucas and the Galbanum is still present in Antonia but rather tamed, polite and expensive smelling ( which it bloomin well should be!).
Want to wear Rooks Thurible today as I loved it on test ( Ambergris) but need to find it first.

SotD is SJP Covet layered with BeauFort's Tonnerre.

I love Autumn, the crispness and rich smells. Wood and smoke enhanced with the plum and vanilla freshened by salt and citrus.

OutComeTheWolves · 26/09/2018 13:16

Eau my soul sounds lovely- definitely one to add to the wishlist.

Does anyone have a scent addict subscription? I started one about 6 weeks ago. The first sample came almost immediately, but they haven't taken a repeat payment since or sent me anymore perfume. Very annoying when I spent an unreasonable amount of time choosing my perfect 12 perfumes. Anyway I emailed them and they just said it's a problem at their end but no further information!

MrsLucas · 26/09/2018 13:17

Hey Pesty! How's your own bonfire fragrance this year; maturing nicely?

XingMing · 26/09/2018 14:57

Good suggestion Teta. Thurible it is, and very nice too. I hope it lasts longer today.

Branleuse · 26/09/2018 18:02

I think leather smells, Oud, sandalwood, even patchouli are brilliant this time of year

Branleuse · 26/09/2018 18:10

uk.lush.com/products/smell-weather-turning-0

this is the best late summer early autumn perfume though imo. It actually smells of petrichor, cut grass, leaves and bonfires to me.

i doubt that. I think its quite a strong smell. I can imagine a lot of people find it a bit much.
I like it with something else to soften it. Ive got a rose oud from yves rocher which is not too overpowering, but normally its quite a masculine scent
