In Stash now to keep Plausible company, and have some Armani Eau de Cedre on the other arm. I like Stash close up but can smell gherkins in the distance...Grin. Assume it's the vetivert?

All this PP talk is making my fingers itch. So, to stay with Wombat's nostalgic theme, just to check, we've had recent recommendations of their Cinnabar, Rive Gauche and Opium 'tributes''? And Paris Grin. Anyone know what's their Samsara lookiliki is like?

Now, I'm going to have to go back and see if I can get gherkins from Stash, MrsL Grin Not one I've noticed so far but I wouldn't put it past SJP. She does love to fling in those street-level New York City flavours on occasion.

I'm off shearling jacket shopping today so SOTD is Guerlain Vetiver.

teta · 29/09/2018 10:03

In Rook Forest today. It’s reminiscent of olbas oil initially but then settles down to a piney smell. Probably a good one for Christmas.
I’m going to layer it with the Aftelier Antique Ambergris which is a warm sea-tinged vanilla and anise. Apparently there’s civet in it too but it’s imperceptible.

auberginesrus · 29/09/2018 10:17

I tried Rook Forest the other day (sent to me by a lovely perfumista whose identity I have forgotten Blush). My overwhelming impression was toilet cleaner!

teta · 29/09/2018 10:27

Yep, I get that too aubergine . But I love undergrowth. Forest doesn’t last so I’m in Aftelier Wild Roses & Ambergris. The Wild Roses is a modern Nahema with Taif Rose and is surprisingly complex. These natural perfumes really do smell quite different and have a intimate silage.Even perfume hating dh hasn’t complained yet.

Miladymilord · 29/09/2018 11:19

I love this thread Grin you are all so interesting!

MrsLucas · 29/09/2018 11:47

All this forest talk...so I am in a couple 4160T rarities; Elveden Garden and The Enchanted Forest. The former is my fave. The latter is a bit high pitched - I have the same issue with Outdoors.

Wish I had some (vintage) Magie Noire for dark green moments. Might have to squirt done Yatagan on a bit for deep deep forest. (And see if Pino Silvestre still smells of Fairy Liquid).

MrsLucas! Meeeeeee! I adore PP Samsara and will probably never bother with the real thing ever again. It's beautiful. It makes me feel cosy and just fabulous. It is sweet, but never verging on a PM- it's creamy, orangey and spicy after a few hours. I love it. I have the 15ml (is it? the not 3ml tiny one) but next time will definitely get the 30ml (I have Rive Gauche, Opium and Infusions d'Iris in the 30ml)

I think fairy liquid perfume might smell quite nice Grin I love original Radox smell..and Midas bubble bath (anyone old enough to remember that?) I treated myself to some Fenjal which was sweeter than I remembered.

MrsLucas · 29/09/2018 12:39

Bet you don't get gherkins with Guerlain's Vetiver Grin.

OP posts:
MrsLucas · 29/09/2018 13:19

Sud - it's the vintage (Vidal) aftershave formulation (being an indiscriminate equal opportunities-forward Perfumista Grin). If you fancy a swap, PM me!

3TresTrois · 29/09/2018 13:57

Ooh, I must check out the PP Samsara, then Sud. Love, love, LOVE Samsara, although prefer the EDT to the EDP. It’s creamy sandalwood heaven. My favourite cold weather bedtime fragrance ever.

I’m on a mission to use up any bottles with dregs left to free up shelf space in my cramped hovel of a bedroom, so on that note am wearingthe last few sprays of my Chloe Love Story today. I love this. A really light, sweet but dry Neroli. I may repurchase in the Spring.

MrsLucas · 29/09/2018 14:13

Can we please have a competition for the funniest PP name? I'll get us started with, 'Inflexibly Handsome'.

And does anyone know why there are male and female variants of unisex perfumes? Are they the same scent but packaged differently (like Annick Goutal)?

PP’s Rive Gauche (Riv Gosh Grin) is out of stock, so is still on my list for next time. Now adding Samara as well. I LOVE their Fracas (still a bit new to this so not sure if it counts as 80s, but it definitely makes me feel a bit Jilly Cooperish Grin).

I added By the Fireplace based on the enthusiasm on here. I’d written it off before because of reviewers saying it made them smell like ‘a Christmas ham’. Am excited to try it now.

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/09/2018 19:18

Am soaked in Chergui. Found a fabulous perfumery in Luxembourg, sadly all still too spendy but I just went a bit mad with the Lutens samples 😊

3TresTrois · 29/09/2018 21:34

PP makes me giggle every time. Can’t think of a particularly funny one now, though.

Am in lovely (real) Samsara tonight. I am two thirds of the way through my vintage red bottle and can’t bear the thought of Samsara in a bee bottle ...so PP is calling...

Judydreamsofhorses · 29/09/2018 22:59

SOTD was MMM Sunday, but after a long bath I am now in Black Opium. DP is out, so catface and I are having a girls’ night in, with Strictly and wine.

I got my Instagram back!

Omg that Avon pack! No Moonwind sadly, perhaps that was later.

3TresTrois · 30/09/2018 11:15

The Avon pack looks fabulous. One of us must bid on that, please! Grin.

I’m in EA Green Tea this morning for ‘Soccer Mom’ duties. I shall change into something more autumnal and decadent later Wink.
