Beauty advent calendars....

Piccolino2 · 17/08/2018 09:30

For those interested there's already some info coming out on this years beauty advent calendars... plenty of time for us all to debate and neurose about it all:

www.reallyree.com/?s=Advent%202018

I've been putting £5 away a week since last Christmas for this so I can purchase guilt free and as I organise the whole of Christmas for everyone then I think I should get a treat to look forward to. Personally I think I like the look of Harrods this time.

What do you all think?

Thanks Evilringah - only banned for manufacture at start of year & sale from July & I do like to go for brands which were microplastic free last year as well - i.e. not just doing it because they have to. Plus I have a few things still to try from last year's calendar. Luckily my favourites were microbead free but I have been surprised at some of the brands which used beads. As it happens, I have sensitive skin & like parabens free too so I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to ingredients.

I loved the Korres sleep mask so much that I have bought it twice

Me too, @lonicera! Gorgeous stuff.

copyeditorAMA · 06/09/2018 15:36

Wonder if Zoella will do another calendar this year?! Grin Grin

I loved the M&S one last year and my dd loved the medium priced Body Shop one. The Body Shop ones look good again this year - they have 3.

LilaGrace · 06/09/2018 15:44

Caggie- just out of interest, why would you go for JoLoves rather than Jo Malone for the calendar?

Caggie09 · 06/09/2018 17:43

LilaGrace Just because ive got a few jo malone products already and want to try Jo loves. Some of the perfumes ive already got so dont want to double up, want to try new ones! And on day 25 in Jo loves you get a voucher to redeem a perfumeGrin

LilaGrace · 06/09/2018 17:52

Ah- good reason! I'm not sure of the differences between jo malone and jo loves- I've never tried the latter but want to!

MathsFiend · 06/09/2018 19:54

I bought the Liberty gift with purchase, it seems a better deal than the calendar. You get £150 of stuff you actually want plus the free stuff up to £370. Don’t think I will put it in last year’s calendar though, not much of a surprise if I’ve put the items in the boxes myself!

Caggie09 · 07/09/2018 12:22

Just pre-ordered Look Fantastic!

Bumbl · 07/09/2018 12:46

Preordered LookFantastic too! Do they post them out on 1 October?

MrsCar · 07/09/2018 12:52

I've pre-ordered too. Delighted to get 20% off as I get a beauty box every month Grin

Nanasueathome · 07/09/2018 12:55

I’ve had the Liberty one for the last 2 years
I’ve just ‘had’ to spend £154 on the Liberty website to get the Liberty 25 beauty products free
I had the Jo Malone one 2 years ago and whilst it was good I did feel, that the value actually matched the price (although the lady at the Jo Malone counter in Birmingham Selfridges store did tell me they had people offering up to £1000 for it in store once they were aware it had sold out)
May go for Jo Loves this time. I’ve been to her shop and have bought online from there too and the fact that you get a voucher for 100ml perfume of your choice from there included in the calendar makes it seem a good buy

Nanasueathome · 07/09/2018 13:02

As an aside..my daughter sold the empty Jo Malone calendar box on eBay for £25

MrsCar · 07/09/2018 13:20

Wow!

@Fishandthechips if you saw someone banging their head against a brick wall would you walk on by? Or would you stop and say actually that's not a good idea. I think that's why @cholka posted......

What2donow4 · 08/09/2018 08:05

Birchbox's sold out in 24 hours last year apparently. What's so special about it?

indignatio · 08/09/2018 10:22

Has the Liberty gift with expired already?

Nanasueathome · 08/09/2018 13:29

It’s still there.
Go to the Liberty site and select Beauty
Then click on a product and it says underneath individual products if they are eligible
It said originally it was while stocks last
If you choose items and go to checkout it should show in your basket

LanguidLobster · 08/09/2018 14:13

This thread made me go off and check the contents for LF and liberty - I wasn't too swayed by LF but liberty's looks gorgeous.

Can't afford it this year so I'll have to come here and admire all yours Grin

Fishandthechips · 08/09/2018 15:49

@GreasyFryUp Im confused, what exactly was that a response to?
And to answer your question that would probably depend on the reasons as to why they were banging their head against a wall. And I would probably start that conversation with 'are you ok' instead of the blatently obvious 'thats not a good idea'...

blodynmawr · 08/09/2018 15:59

De lurking to say that x2 Body Shop calendars have arrived Chez Blod and been hidden under the stairs ready for December, one for me, one for DD. They are different calendars so we will have various different products. I have had M&S ones for the past few years, and DD had a Jack Wills one from Boots last year. We both love Body Shop and felt like a change this year.
Obvs I would like a Liberty one but too £££. I will admire from afar....

JeSuisPrest · 08/09/2018 16:38

A good link for rounding up all the ones (and a few more) mentioned so far.

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/beauty-hair/beauty-trends/amp38073/best-beauty-advent-calendars-2015/

(Ignore the fact the link says 2015 - it's def the 2018 calendars).

I'm torn between good old M & S which I've had for the last couple of years and only had a couple products, or one of the L'Occitane ones.

Finallybreathingout · 09/09/2018 16:25

I'll probably get the M&S one when I buy the kids new pyjamas as usual but I'm debating which other one I might get. I loved the Look Fantastic one last year but I've got a box subscription there so I don't want too much repetition. I am seriously tempted by Liberty but remember quite a few posters being unimpressed with it last year. Lots look gorgeous but I want a mix of skin care and make up which rules quite a few out, and over £200 isn't really doable.
