Beauty advent calendars....

Piccolino2 · 17/08/2018 09:30

For those interested there's already some info coming out on this years beauty advent calendars... plenty of time for us all to debate and neurose about it all:

www.reallyree.com/?s=Advent%202018

I've been putting £5 away a week since last Christmas for this so I can purchase guilt free and as I organise the whole of Christmas for everyone then I think I should get a treat to look forward to. Personally I think I like the look of Harrods this time.

What do you all think?

OP posts:
MrsCar · 09/09/2018 16:34

I ordered the Look Fantastic one already, and I watched a YouTube unboxing of it today (I'll have forgotten everything by December 1st), and I found it quite disappointing 🤦‍♀️

Caggie09 · 09/09/2018 17:00

Mrscar I watched one too, but only watched day one and left it😂. Last years was really good, even down to the design. I think everyone has high expectations now. I do anyway! I have already read comments on Youtube that they wont bother buying it this yearBlush

MrsCar · 09/09/2018 18:58

I hate to be mean, but she was rather irritating. I was very tempted to turn it off too!

MrsCar · 10/09/2018 17:03

I requested a cancellation on my LookFantastic one, but it's still
showing up as 'processing' under my order Sad
My main issue is that it seems to be too repetitive; I already have most of or very similar products in the monthly beauty boxes (first world problem I know)!

Caggie09 · 10/09/2018 17:48

I was thinking myself to cancel it and go for something different instead, i think i will and go for the Elle one instead, £125, so abit extra!

Beauty advent calendars....
MrsCar · 10/09/2018 18:28

Mine says cancelled now, phew!

Spoiler

Spoiler

But I looked at the contents and I already have the ultra repair cream, the Molton brown, I don't like sleek makeup, I already have the mane & tale shampoo, I don't want/need a makeup brush...
so glad I've cancelled it now.

I'll have a look at the Elle one Smile

BurningTheToast · 13/09/2018 09:32

I thought the Elle one looked good too. Some of the others were the same old stuff as is in every subscription box.

Some random stuff too - Byredo's hair perfume in the Liberty calendar for example. Surely I'm not the only person who would prefer actual scent, hand cream or whatever?

MrsCar · 13/09/2018 10:28

The Elle one does look amazing... and I love the Polkadots!

Caggie09 · 13/09/2018 10:51

I actually wanted a hair perfumeBlush😂.

I cancelled Look Fantastic and have signed upto the wait list for Elle, so will preorder on the 1st of Oct. The products so far look good, and theres a candle in there that i looked up a while ago and fancied. So im soldGrin

AliceRR · 16/09/2018 08:39

The Fenwick one looks good. Haven’t seen what’s in the Elle one yet though or selfridfges etc

AliceRR · 16/09/2018 08:55

The Harrods one looks good too. And I want to try more ESPA stuff do tempted by that. And also need to look at the Charlotte tilbury one as I don’t have any of her stuff so might be a good way to try 🤔

But then part of me does just not want o be sucked in by these 😬😂

Nanasueathome · 16/09/2018 09:03

Fortnum and Mason also have a beauty advent calendar this year
It’s £195....but says it’s worth £600

MrsCar · 16/09/2018 09:03

I'm pretty sure the Charlotte Tilbury one is only 12 days/products, just incase anyone would order and expect 24

Aridane · 16/09/2018 09:10

Can anyone tell me what is in the Boots Advent Calendar? Is it largely skincare (which is what I’m interested in)?

Nanasueathome · 16/09/2018 09:11

Oh, I’m watching QVC and they are showing the Decleor one

MotherofTerriers · 16/09/2018 09:45

I'm not buying any this year....
so far I've got the decleor one and have ordered Look Fantastic

Horseradishwrap · 16/09/2018 10:06

I would love the Elemis one!

Tomorrowisanewday · 16/09/2018 10:59

Aridane I had the No 7 one last year, and it was about 50% skincare. I liked it, and would buy it again.

MrsCar · 16/09/2018 14:34

I had it too and liked it, but I was sick of the sight of No7 by the end of it Blush

I'm actually wearing the raspberry coloured lip crayon today from it, it's such a beautiful colour

Caggie09 · 16/09/2018 17:07

Charlotte Tilbury is only 12 days, i got it last year but didnt use it for advent. It doesnt have numbers on the door, so i guess you would just open willy-nilly?😂 The box is very pretty and i still use it for storing makeup bits! Its just the same bits every year i think in the CT ones.

OneInAMillionYou · 16/09/2018 19:44

I may be doing it wrong but I can't seem to access the Liberty Gift With Purchase referred to above.

I've got £200 worth of beauty in my basket, but only a couple of samples added at Checkout.
Wonder if it is sold out?

Nanasueathome · 16/09/2018 19:52

The Liberty gift with purchase was limited.
They sold out pretty quickly (mainly to people on Mumsnet I think)
Mine came the other day
Lots of really nice stuff and several full size items too. Definitely worth the money

Nanasueathome · 16/09/2018 20:16

Qvc have the Molton Brown advent calendar on their website now too
