Beauty advent calendars....

Piccolino2 · 17/08/2018 09:30

For those interested there's already some info coming out on this years beauty advent calendars... plenty of time for us all to debate and neurose about it all:

www.reallyree.com/?s=Advent%202018

I've been putting £5 away a week since last Christmas for this so I can purchase guilt free and as I organise the whole of Christmas for everyone then I think I should get a treat to look forward to. Personally I think I like the look of Harrods this time.

What do you all think?

Oops. I just ordered the liberty one.... just so tempted and know I would be gutted when it does sell out.
Baby due in 3 weeks so this will be my special treat to myself. I think I'll tell husband not to buy me a Christmas present. !!

Costacoffeeplease · 24/10/2018 17:59

I’ve ordered the liberty one and look fantastic, and will get m&s too as I’ve had that the last few years and liked it

Husband is getting haribo 😄

LanguidLobster · 24/10/2018 20:06

I'm jealous :)

I thought liberty looked brilliant this year but was sensible and restrained myself (bills to pay, promises to keep).

I'll have to read about it here.

littlepooch · 24/10/2018 20:46

My DH bought me the liberty one. I think he got fed up with me going on.

I am SO excited - this is a really big treat for me. I have no idea how I will wait until December!!!

Deathraystare · 25/10/2018 14:14

Well if money was no object I would have bought (more than) one of the Decleor ones on QVC. Fantastic value but cannot afford it!

LanguidLobster · 25/10/2018 14:17

@littlepooch you should really enjoy that, I thought it looked wonderful this year

MrsCar · 25/10/2018 14:22

I'm literally laughing out loud at costacoffee! I thought I was bad with my 2 last year (No7 for November and Look Fantastic for December)

Do you open all 3 each morning in December? Grin

I only have the Charlotte Tilbury one this year, which is only a 12 day one. I think I'll go for the M&S one too Halloween Blush

Housewife2010 · 25/10/2018 15:24

I'm waiting for the Liberty to be delivered. I do wish that they were using DPD rather than DHL. DPD gives one hour delivery slots. I have to collect my daughter soon and it could arrive anytime today. I really hope it doesn't come in the ten minutes when I'm out. I also think that Liberty should give free delivery with such a large spend.

Costacoffeeplease · 25/10/2018 22:06

Grin yes, 3 each morning

AnnaNimmity · 25/10/2018 22:13

oh dear I got the Liberty one and the Net a porter one (bought the net a porter one first and then crumbled with the Liberty one). I have read somewhere that the Fenwicks one is really good value. (I'm done though)

I want to get my teen girls one each - any ideas? (3 girls aged 13,15,18) - not too expensive (as I've spent all of my money on myself).

bumblebee39 · 25/10/2018 23:25

Ooh love a beauty advent calendar, 💕

bumblebee39 · 25/10/2018 23:31

Had M&S and John Lewis before, but things are looking to take a positive financial turn just before Xmas, what would be a good slight upgrade? Tia X

bumblebee39 · 25/10/2018 23:32

Do Benefit do one? Xx

A dupe for Jo Malone!

buckeejit · 02/11/2018 07:40

@bumblebee39 I'd say decleor or look fantastic/latest in beauty or glossy box is popular.

Dh has ordered me the Liberty one bless him, it arrived on Monday after me asking him Sunday night if I should get the Jo loves one as not interested in the others even though it's £250.

I keep going back to look at it but really don't think I can make it worth the money, especially as I just want to smell it all. Not sure what to do! May check if 4160 Tuesdays are doing one as love them.

Fishandthechips · 02/11/2018 08:00

The Elle one is on offer at the minute according to my emails. £80 instead of over a hundred. Im very tempted...

buckeejit · 02/11/2018 09:10

Some good bits in the Elle one. I've made myself go through & assign what I'd individually be willing to pay for each item & some are no value to me at all so this way it never makes the calendar worth it anymore! There's only so much stuff I can gift to friends. Keep telling myself to be strong!

Henrysmycat · 02/11/2018 09:51

Buckee, that’s me and liberty’s. Been buying for 3 years. This year is exact repeat of the last 3 years. Item for item, it doesn’t worth it for me. I’ll pass.

Nanasueathome · 02/11/2018 09:55

I’ve had the Liberty one for the last 2 years and am not even tempted this year
I had the beauty offer a few weeks ago where you spent £150 and had products worth almost £400 free and I have to say that was a better offer for me
It’s also interesting in that the Liberty calendar has sold out within a couple of days previous years but is still available this year

Nanasueathome · 02/11/2018 09:57

I’ve looked at Jo Loves and concluded that it’s better to actually just buy the perfume/candles from full price range
The perfumes in the calendar are 2ml size and I queried this with JL customer service yesterday. They told me they expect each 2ml to last for 3 uses. So not really a lot

Housewife2010 · 02/11/2018 13:29

The Jo Loves includes a voucher for a full size perfume.

buckeejit · 02/11/2018 15:36

There's a taster set from JL that works out better value than the calendar. I'd much prefer a 50ml voucher for less money.

May be tempted by ESPA....

Piccolino2 · 02/11/2018 17:20

@Fishandthechips where do you get the ELLE calendar for £80? I need to buy one as a gift but can only see it listed for full price.

OP posts:
Fishandthechips · 02/11/2018 17:55

@Piccolino2 Try signing up to the Elle newsletter/marketing thing on their website. The offer is in an email through them and you click the link and it shows you the discounted price. It doesnt have a offer end date, just says limited time so hopefully they are still sending emails out.

bumblebee39 · 03/11/2018 09:28

@buckeejit can't warrant spending more than £70/£80 really.

Though do want the selfridges one! Xx
