Face tinkerers - Profhilo is flippin' brill

I have started many threads over the years about the non-surgical fixes I have had: botox, liquid face lift, threads etc... Anyway, about a year and a half ago I did realise that I was looking a bit done - my honest friend told me and she was right - I thought I was subtle but tweakage is cumulative and before you know it ... well, you know.

I am still very interested in all that shizz so I popped to my clinic and asked if there was anything that would not freeze my face, make me look less knackered but still my age (46) . That's when they recommended Profhilo.
It's a course of two treatments a month apart. 5 injections on each side of the face with pure hyarulonic acid which then spreads across your face and encourages your own collagen and elastin to rebuild.V clever.
I had my first round on Tuesday so expected no results whatsoever but woke up on Saturday with the skin of a baby. It already feels dead plump, pores have disappeared and there is some slight lifting. It's not even supposed to be working yet but I feel I look so much better.

Cannot wait to see full results after two treatments.

Sorry EnidButton I did not make myself at all clear there - was all the wine's fault Wink. Also the bob photo this week looks far more bleached because I snapped it on my top of the range, no expense spent Lenovo laptop which is about to give up the ghost. But, you should see a slight improvement in firmness and that's amazing for one treatment, one week in.
How bad was my skin before Soolantra? I was literally clawing my face off.

Does Soolantra need to be prescribed by a dermatologist? I'm starting to think I've got rosacea but I understand it's hard to get a diagnosis from a GP, as they are a bit clueless about skin conditions.
Can I get it online without a prescription?

confusedmomm · 05/08/2018 14:19

For those who aren't keen on needles, I had quite a bit of success from Obagi Nu Derm cream range. It makes your skin peel like mad for a prolonged period of time - you literally don't stop peeling - but the results were great. All discolouring gone, skin is radiant. I do still get botox on my 11s (back on Tuesday and will chat with her about Profhilo too) but as a first step The creams have been really face changing. This was my before and after (the clinic used these images of me with permission on their FB page as a real life ad for theit obagi producrs).

I am makeup free in both aside from some lipstick in the after one.

Timeline wise I did two courses. Started in Feb, the after was in June.

confusedmomm · 05/08/2018 14:23

Yes please to the thread about tinkering haha

DameDoom · 05/08/2018 14:30

confusedmomm Wow! You have had a brilliant result. Very impressive indeed - you look fab.
I had the Perfect Peel done a couple of years ago - I was like the Singing Detective and had to stay indoors for over a week - it was so painful and the results were in no way as impressive as yours.
pearlkent I get my Soolantra from Pharmacy2U. It will only work on type 2 which is pustules and papules. It takes ages to work and gets so much worse before it gets better but when it starts working it's amazing. I only use a thin layer once a week now.

Your brows look brill too.

I've done obagi nu derm and I agree, it's fab but you peel like mad for months and cannot wear any makeup and I found it difficult in work to be honest. It's also about pigmentation and the texture/tone/evenness of the skin rather than any plumping/lifting effect.

confusedmomm · 05/08/2018 14:47

@Truckingonandon totally correct there. I have been mainly at home with the little one for the first half of the year so thankfully wearing no makeup wasn't an issue, but it is totally true you can't put makeup until you stop peeling and it lasted a good 3 months for me (the peeling).

Yes re pigmentation etc too and not plumping, but thought I'd add it in here as something that has def worked. I tried so many hyped things that didn't, so the one time something has its worth the mention.

confusedmomm · 05/08/2018 14:49

@DameDoom thanks! I actually looked at having a peel done but I'm not very good with pain tolerance and like you said read about it being painful so thought I'd try the cream route first and if all else fails, then I'd go down the peel route.

RJnomore1 · 05/08/2018 16:41

Oh heck I want to do the nu derm now but there's no way I can cope 3 months without makeup 😩

Wellhellothere101 · 05/08/2018 17:01

@RJnomore1 The nurse I go to in Ayrshire for fillers and botox is starting this soon but she told me she is gong to get her training from the owner of Age Refined clinic in Glasgow who have been doing it for some time. I'm going to wait and get it done with my usual nurse/clinic once they have had training but I imagine this Glasgow clinic would be very good too.

RJnomore1 · 05/08/2018 17:27

I'm in Ayrshire wellhello

Dr Nicola Willis in Troon has been recommended to me for fillers but I had a look and I don't think she does this.

I'll have a look at the Glasgow clinic. My birthday is tomorrow so I'm in proper meltdown mode today.

Wellhellothere101 · 05/08/2018 17:36

Lol RJnomore1 I know how you feel. Lots of my friends go to Nicola and she comes highly recommended. I go to Joan Boyle at Quest clinic in Ayr and she should be doing Profhilo in the next month or two once she has had training.

ProjectGainsborough · 05/08/2018 20:24

Thanks all, really appreciate the pics!

Dame that does look good - and natural, which is key!

Confused that’s really interesting. A friend is using Obagi and her skin is really radiant too. Will ask the doc next time I see him.

Truckingonandon · 07/08/2018 18:55

Well, I've had my first session. Twas horrible and hurt but I'd say 6 out of the 10 injections were fine and 4 were very ouchy. Doesn't last long though and it's bearable. I look like I've got insect bites on my face now but there's no pain or itchiness or any other sensation. The lumps will start to gradually go down over the next 24 hours and I've got to try and sleep on my back tonight. I go back in 4 weeks for round 2. It's obviously too early to say whether I can see a difference but I'll come back if I wake up looking 10 years younger I notice any improvement.

confusedmomm · 07/08/2018 19:59

Me too!! As I was in for Botox this morning had her put Profhilo in my neck as have two massive lines there, and after the suggestion here read into it and said it does work for next. So I'm rather lumpy. She put numbing cream on so I felt nothing at all. Photo attached. Going back in a month time for the second sess and will post another photo after.

confusedmomm · 07/08/2018 19:59

*neck, not next

cathyandclare · 07/08/2018 20:18

Does anyone know how long does the lumpiness last?

Truckingonandon · 07/08/2018 20:18

I had numbing cream on but it made no difference. She's given me some to take away for next time so I can put it on an hour before.

Come back and update with results of your neck.

affectionincoldclimate · 07/08/2018 21:26

@cathyandclare 24 hrs max. After 12 it's barely noticeable and gone in 24

cathyandclare · 07/08/2018 21:32

Great, i may have an appointment on Thursday and planning on not disclosing to anyone IRL.... starting the arnica now!

princesstiasmum · 07/08/2018 23:09

confusedmomm what was your neck like before though? have you any pics to show the difference

confusedmomm · 07/08/2018 23:23

@princesstiasmum as in the photo but without the bumps haha will be another month and one more session of it, before any changes happen :) I shall post before and after once the after is showing (if it does, I hope it does!)

confusedmomm · 07/08/2018 23:28

Not face specifically, but tinkering definitely. Curious if anyone has tried vaser lipo and whether it worked?
