Face tinkerers - Profhilo is flippin' brill

I have started many threads over the years about the non-surgical fixes I have had: botox, liquid face lift, threads etc... Anyway, about a year and a half ago I did realise that I was looking a bit done - my honest friend told me and she was right - I thought I was subtle but tweakage is cumulative and before you know it ... well, you know.

I am still very interested in all that shizz so I popped to my clinic and asked if there was anything that would not freeze my face, make me look less knackered but still my age (46) . That's when they recommended Profhilo.
It's a course of two treatments a month apart. 5 injections on each side of the face with pure hyarulonic acid which then spreads across your face and encourages your own collagen and elastin to rebuild.V clever.
I had my first round on Tuesday so expected no results whatsoever but woke up on Saturday with the skin of a baby. It already feels dead plump, pores have disappeared and there is some slight lifting. It's not even supposed to be working yet but I feel I look so much better.

Cannot wait to see full results after two treatments.

I for one am very grateful posters like Dame Doom bother to share their experiences. On the back of this I have talked my botox nurse into training in profhilo! Hope she gets a shift on... Grin

Thanks also to the others who have said they will come back and tell us how they get on.

Gonegrey31 · 03/08/2018 20:11

I’m not connected in any way to the product or any clinic, just passing on my honest experience. I decided to have profhilo after the nurse who does my twice yearly baby Botox said it was the one procedure she and her colleagues had regularly, and were convinced by. Her skin is fabulous. To keep the results in perspective, I don’t look younger just fresher and my skin texture is hugely improved. Plumped up without weight gain !

newishtofacetinkering · 03/08/2018 20:20

This is interesting. The expression "face tinkering" in particular! I have adopted it already mere minutes after finishing the thread. Would anyone be interested in an ongoing face tinkering thread to discuss all cosmetic treatments? Like the skincare threads. I have been surprised there isn't one already to be honest. I've just had tixel and am keen to discuss results etc with anyone else that's had it or thinking of having it. On another thread to avoid derailing this one but would anyone be interested?

DameDoom · 03/08/2018 20:51

Mr Doom invented the term 'facial tinkering' whilst rolling his eyes light-heartedly at my, over the years, multi-experimentation.

He is thrilled - it's made up for how bad he feels after accidentally standing on a frog. It's still alive - just stunned.

Yes to a face thread full of tinkering.

I found my people. Yes. It's the best thing since sliced bread. I look younger fresher and radiant with two treatments. And OP like you I am definitely not a rep but I've sent several people to my doctor. Not even trying to. It's just that people were commenting how lovely and fresh I look and how do I manage that with a sleep averse toddler at 41. Well... Grin

I dabble in Botox and filler but this shit is da bomb if you pardon my faux street slang.

Basically if I were to choose one procedure it would be that.

princesstiasmum · 04/08/2018 01:27

Yes to a thread devoted to cosmetic procedures of any kind

mrscampbellblackreturns · 04/08/2018 06:09

Anyone got any recommendations in the south west or London - will travel for face tinkering ;)

Truckingonandon · 04/08/2018 08:21

Can't wait to go next week, although I'm worried about the pain, as I read a review from someone who said it's agony 😬 I've been having Botox for my 11s for about 14 years but as I've got older and started to see the beginnings of jowls, Botox makes my face look like a game of 2 halves - nice and smooth up top but then a bit baggy lower down. Im hoping that this could be just the ticket for an all-over refresh 🙏🏻 I'm usually really picky about which doctors I use but I'm throwing caution to the wind on this occasion and using someone I don't know. Hope I don't regret it.

RJnomore1 · 04/08/2018 09:05

Anyone got Scotland recommendations? Preferably glasgowish?

affectionincoldclimate · 04/08/2018 09:06

@Truckingonandon this was the case for me too. Profhilo sorted that out more than anything I've ever had. Including filler around nose and to lift corners of my mouth.

I would say that this treatment was the best the lines and sagging around the jaw and mouth area.

That said, well applied filler in upper parts can have a brilliant lifting effect without looking "done".

DameDoom · 04/08/2018 14:01

Truckingonandon The pain is slightly uncomfortable at most - really don't worry. Have some pain relief before you go and ask them to put numbing cream on - you'll hardly feel a thing.
I had my eyebrows threaded on Wednesday after growing them out for 6 months - now that did bloody hurt.

affectionincoldclimate · 04/08/2018 14:28

@Truckingonandon as @DameDoom is saying the pain isn't too bad but local anaesthetic cream sorts it. The worst I felt was slightly pinching stinging feeling for a brief moment. You'll be left with little bumps like mosquito bites for 24hrs but nothing particularly obvious or visible.

ProjectGainsborough · 04/08/2018 15:02

Do you think one session would be any good? My local clinics are about £700 for 2 sessions

princesstiasmum · 04/08/2018 15:15

I hope its better than the Promax someone on mumsnet recommended, what a waste of £200 +
No difference from when the treatment started
I am very interested in this though, and a local nurse advertises it,so might have a word with her about it

princesstiasmum · 04/08/2018 15:17

Hoping someone will post a before and after photo Smile

staycalmer · 04/08/2018 15:21

Must admit it stung a lot but stopped as soon as she had finished. I've had my lips and cheeks filled and nothing at all as bad as that! What's promax? X

princesstiasmum · 04/08/2018 15:28

Promax is a kind of Ultherapy, radiofrequency treatment where you have a treatment for about an hour ,then leave for a week approx, and a another treatment for a few weeks, and supposed to build collagen, did nothing for me,or my daughter, so it really was a waste of money, maybe if you had the treatment every few weeks it might do some good, but neither of us have seen any difference
So i am a little sceptical of these things, but i am willing to find out, and also how long will it last

princesstiasmum · 04/08/2018 15:30

Personally i dont think anything will last very long, i think only surgery will make any noticeable difference

tartantroosers · 04/08/2018 15:31

Any London or S/E recommendations?

DameDoom · 04/08/2018 16:12

ProjectGainsborough my clinic stipulated that you need two treatments and they must be a month apart. Apparently, the Profhilo breaks down after 4 weeks and that it when your body starts kicking in.

As I mentioned before, my nurse told me not to expect anything until after the first 4 week mark but I have definitely got results.

I will ask them to send me my before pics and will put up final results after the 8 week mark. Hopefully, they'll be helpful.

ProjectGainsborough · 04/08/2018 22:29

Thanks Dame - will have to start saving then!

DameDoom · 05/08/2018 01:31

I know some people really don't agree with tinkerage - I can only vouch for the power of MN and how it's helped me.
The bob picture is this week and I think you can see some early results of the ole Profhilo... but look at the state of me in January this year.
Thanks to MN I managed to get that under control.

EnidButton · 05/08/2018 01:58

Dame You still looked good but I can see the freshness now. What helped the rosacea please?

EnidButton · 05/08/2018 01:59

Ooh sorry, you already said earlier. Soolantra. Smile
