Face tinkerers - Profhilo is flippin' brill

I have started many threads over the years about the non-surgical fixes I have had: botox, liquid face lift, threads etc... Anyway, about a year and a half ago I did realise that I was looking a bit done - my honest friend told me and she was right - I thought I was subtle but tweakage is cumulative and before you know it ... well, you know.

I am still very interested in all that shizz so I popped to my clinic and asked if there was anything that would not freeze my face, make me look less knackered but still my age (46) . That's when they recommended Profhilo.
It's a course of two treatments a month apart. 5 injections on each side of the face with pure hyarulonic acid which then spreads across your face and encourages your own collagen and elastin to rebuild.V clever.
I had my first round on Tuesday so expected no results whatsoever but woke up on Saturday with the skin of a baby. It already feels dead plump, pores have disappeared and there is some slight lifting. It's not even supposed to be working yet but I feel I look so much better.

Cannot wait to see full results after two treatments.

Just an update for those possibly looking to have this treatment. I have found that after the product sinks into the skin, it seems to take over a week for me for the lumps to go down for some reason. This skin is great for like 2 weeks and then it does fade but having said that after two treatments my skin is a lot better than when I started out and if I could afford this every month i would as the initial effect is really good!

I am still not 100% happy with my skin, in certain light it looks awful but it is improved due to this treatment so I would say it is worth it. I might be an exception to how well it works as i have skin damage and also dehydrated skin so I probably saw more of an effect as at 30 a lot of older women in heir 40's have better skin than me.

Glad you've seen a small overall improvement Holly. I won't bother with it again, given that I've seen absolutely no improvement.

Mckmck123 · 08/11/2018 17:45

I wouldn’t bother either it was a complete waste of money for me, not one iota of improvement , just a few lumps and bruises to show for my money

SilentIsla · 08/11/2018 18:15

Acid in your face. Just no.

holly30 · 08/11/2018 19:14

silentlsa - Hylauronic acid is found naturally in the body, it sounds worse than it is!

Annoying you guys didn't see any improvements at all!

CS12345 · 08/11/2018 20:07

Silent - it's not actual acid 🤪

holly30 · 09/11/2018 12:09

Also for anyone thinking about it - There are some images online that make it look like a facelift...which are not realistic at all. If the results were like the photos that are floating about then those of us who have had it should look ten years younger. In reality if it really works for you your skin will look more hydrated, smoother and plumper which will make fine lines look slightly improved. If you are looking for drastic results I think you would be disappointed.

I've been following this thread from the beginning. I decided to give Profhilo a try. I've had two sessions four weeks apart and it's now 9 weeks since the first. I'm sorry to say I see no difference at all. Wonderful for those that have an improvement. Sadly, I didn't.

Eleanorsummer · 29/11/2018 13:54

Was going to give this a go after seeing photos and reviews online, but don't think I'll bother now.

princesstiasmum · 29/11/2018 14:57

I sometimes think these things are a fad, i have tried a few things and complete waste of money

Kikipost · 06/01/2019 09:38

Very interested!

Any recs in SE? namely TW pr Sevenoaks area

Sunbeam007 · 17/01/2019 22:49

Hi Kikipost. A colleague has recommended Faceworks Aesthetics, who have a clinic in West Malling once a week. x

Telstar29 · 29/01/2019 07:59

Had anyone that's had the treatment end up with puffy bags around their eye area?
I had my second treatment 4 days ago and the Dr nicked a vein under my eye. I have a black eye and a watery looking bag.
My first treatment I had one either side of my face around the eye area but they were gone after a day or two.

mumontheplum · 29/01/2019 16:42

A complete waste of time and money, had no effect at all on me.

ProjectGainsborough · 29/01/2019 21:03

I was curious about this. There were a couple of previous posters who had lovely results - how are they now a few months in?

Still very tempted but depends how long they last!

holly30 · 31/01/2019 20:46

In my opinion I had great results for a few weeks and then it just goes. I have crepey skin under my eyes from chemical burns and It really helped but it just doesn't last long enough to warrant the cost. The nurse said to me that motabalism will effect how long the results last and I know for a fact I have a fast one. The pictures online are nonsense, they make it look like a full on face lift. At best you will get slightly plumper skin. Those who raved about it are nowhere to see and I have been watching this thread for ages.

Pooch14 · 21/02/2019 20:54

Have read this whole thread and decided its worth a try so I had my first session today. No lumps or bruising so far but I will say the injections were OUCH. More painful than botox injections but hioefully will be worth it. I had numbimg cream on but only for 5/10 mins. The nurse said its just to decrease pain from the needle going in. Heres to many weeks of watching and waiting 🙄. Will keep u posted. Ps: I am 42 with pretty good skin for my age.

DameDoom · 21/02/2019 21:05

Hi everyone - I started the thread and have just been for my six month top up. I'm sorry not everyone has had the results they wanted although reading through, lots of posters' perceptions are a bit unrealistic.
I have had a lot of issues with IBD recently but it hasn't reflected in my skin - well on the face anyway and I put that down to the Profhilo.
I had a sneaky comparison in the mirror between a younger colleague's and my skin. I know she really looks after her complexion but my skin looked much plumper and firmer IMO.

@DameDoom are you able to post a pic (before and after, perhaps)?

Nana60 · 23/02/2019 11:54

Hi new to this ..just wanted to hear true reviews on profhilo i am 60 years of age with saggy wrinkled skin x

vvv19 · 03/03/2019 12:35

Hi everyone,

Thanks for sharing experiences of Profhilo on this thread. Just wondered if you had found anything to help your skin holly30, as I'm in exactly the same position after acid/retinoid damage. My skin is so tight, sore and dehydrated, and nothing topical provides any relief! Am wondering if you found anything after the Profhilo that helped...

Thank you :)

princessTiasmum · 03/03/2019 13:49

Does the profhilo cause bruising , saw someone last week who said she had had it,but had a huge bruise on her neck

Jojomcc · 08/04/2019 01:14

I had profhilo on my face and neck earlier this year ... in fact I ended up having FOUR rounds on my neck in an attempt to completely get rid of vertical lines on the front, but to no avail. However, it did work to some extent and the overall texture of my neck skin was much improved... I wasn’t sure how well it had worked on my face, until it started to wear off that is, and I was reintroduced to my sagging jowls and liney chin 😩... so yes it definitely worked but the bad news is that it’s only been 6 weeks since my second face and fourth neck treatment and the effects have more or less worn off..I spent £2100 and am pretty upset at how long it lasted... maybe it wasn’t administered correctly or I just metabolise HA at an amazing rate but I can safely say that I have seen no collagen boosting effects from profhilo and wish i’d never tried it because for that very short time that it did work I felt wonderful but there’s just no way that I could afford to get it done at the rate it seems that I would need 😕

starbrightnight · 09/04/2019 10:16

Did you mean vertical lines on your neck? I can't picture them. Or did you mean horizontal bands? Sorry it only lasted a short time.

Sunbeam007 · 05/06/2019 10:17

I had two sessions four weeks apart in Jan and Feb and at first I could see no difference. However lots of people have said how well I’m looking and even the cleaner told me I looked really ‘fresh’ when I opened the door to her just a couple of weeks ago. When I compare pictures from now to this time last year I do look less saggy, which I’m over the moon about.
