Face tinkerers - Profhilo is flippin' brill

I have started many threads over the years about the non-surgical fixes I have had: botox, liquid face lift, threads etc... Anyway, about a year and a half ago I did realise that I was looking a bit done - my honest friend told me and she was right - I thought I was subtle but tweakage is cumulative and before you know it ... well, you know.

I am still very interested in all that shizz so I popped to my clinic and asked if there was anything that would not freeze my face, make me look less knackered but still my age (46) . That's when they recommended Profhilo.
It's a course of two treatments a month apart. 5 injections on each side of the face with pure hyarulonic acid which then spreads across your face and encourages your own collagen and elastin to rebuild.V clever.
I had my first round on Tuesday so expected no results whatsoever but woke up on Saturday with the skin of a baby. It already feels dead plump, pores have disappeared and there is some slight lifting. It's not even supposed to be working yet but I feel I look so much better.

Cannot wait to see full results after two treatments.

Everyone appears to be slightly different. My bumps were quite red aswell and I did look a mess but I have read others who didn't have any bumps and went out same day so I wouldn't let it put you off! Just plan to stay in like I did and if you can go out great!

PurpleNailVarnish · 20/09/2018 13:41

Thank you holly and Peridot.

maddjess · 20/09/2018 20:43

Just about to say purple bet she did it herself!

Been lurking and I'm thinking about it but £1200 for course off my botox lady I'm holding off just yet.

Holly. Have you thought about peels? X

holly30 · 20/09/2018 22:36

@maddjess wow 1200! Are you London way by an chance? I thought £550 was expensive!

I have thought about peels but got damage from a glycolic scrub and retin a that i decided not to do anything harsh for my skin so I decided not to. That's why profhilo appealed to me so much because it was injecting in to the skin rather than taking off layers. My skin looks in better conditions but the profhilo hasn't addresses the rough patches I have on the side of my nose and inner cheeks so now my skin is in a better condition from the injections i am thinking about a peel but a gentle one, however I have the nagging voice that is saying not to as my skin just seems so sensitive to everything and I don't want to risk further damage.

Had my 2nd session this week and by christ it hurt. More so than the first session. Had to have a 10 second breather half way through. Got some pretty funky looking lumps too, which are far more noticeable than the first time. So along with a current crop of some lovely new spots, I look particularly fetching at the moment 😒😳

Truckingonandon · 21/09/2018 08:56

Funky lumps have calmed down a lot this morning thank goodness! Will come back here and comment again in a couple of weeks, good bad or indifferent.

holly30 · 21/09/2018 09:13

My nurse said that they are taught to inject slow to minimise pain but I asked her to do the other side quick and it was a lot less painful.

@Trucking did you see a difference after your first session?

Truckingonandon · 21/09/2018 09:36

My nurse said the HA is thick-ish, so you have to inject it slowly, rather than just fire it in and the pain comes from this and the tissues being stretched a bit.

I think I saw a tiny improvement but nothing significant. I'm thinking of having a 3rd session for maximum impact.

holly30 · 21/09/2018 09:59

I saw enough improvement to have the second session. I just hope something more happens after the second one which I've got on the 5th October.

Truckingonandon · 27/09/2018 09:14

Well I'm now a week on from my 2nd treatment and I can say that it's done absolutely NOTHING for my skin. There is zero difference or improvement. Biiiiig waste of money and I think the people waxing lyrical about it on here are plants! 🌱

holly30 · 27/09/2018 10:20

@trucking oh no that's not good. So annoying when you spend that amount of money. It does say 4 weeks after second treatment for the final results so maybe give it until then. The only reason i say that is after my first it took 4 days for the bumps to fully go down which isn't far off a week so the product wasn't under my skin properly.

I saw a good difference a week after but nothing after that. I have see pics where women look like they have had a full face lift and I am doubtful that it can do that as most people just seem to have a bit of a glow as opposed to anything else.

I'm due to have my second treatment on the 5th so will report after that to see if any change although my nurse said she got the most results after the first and not much more after the second so who know what to think.

Mckmck123 · 29/09/2018 09:27

I too am very disappointed with profhilo
Thankfully I only had the first treatment and saw zero effect, not one iota of improvement so couldn’t bring myself to spend another £300 pound on the chance that I may see a difference in my skin.
I think I will just stick to my sun screens and let nature takes it course and spend my money on things I can see and enjoy

adulthumanfemail · 29/09/2018 09:33

At what age would you recommend to start?

Truckingonandon · 29/09/2018 11:25

Adult - profhilo? Never!

Mck- funnily enough, I was thinking exactly the same yesterday. I need to focus on my diet and nutrition as a priority and I'm going to do that rather than do any further treatments apart from Botox, which is a miracle worker

Mckmck123 · 30/09/2018 14:26

Truckingonandon
I had been thinking that this treatment was a bit like “the emperors new clothes”
Everyone convincing them selves they could see an improvement
Sorry because I know lot of you think it’s great
Maybe I’m just the one person it didn’t work on

Truckingonandon · 30/09/2018 14:35

Well I must be the 2nd one then!

QueenOfIce · 30/09/2018 17:42

I'm meant to have my 2nd treatment on Thursday but I'm cancelling. I have seen no difference at all in my skin and I really don't want to fork out another £300 'just in case' shame I had high hopes for profhilo!

holly30 · 01/10/2018 09:13

I am thinking that the only reason i saw any improvement was that my face was massively dehydrated, it was grey looking and old looking and just dry. I looked a lot older than my age. I think if i had good skin to start with i might not have seen anything either.

I am still going to go ahead because i did see improvement. I know for sure I did because my skin has been my biggest nightmare this past year and i notice every single change to it and this was a positive one.

It may come to nothing but I am desperate to get some life back in my skin and see if this can help.

SunnyInGrimsby · 01/10/2018 09:37

I had 2 sessions of profhilo last year but didn't notice any difference either so I didn't have anymore.

After the rave reviews here I'm thinking I'd like to try it somewhere else but for now I'm happy with fillers and botox twice a year.

I've been also doing Eva Fraser's facial exercises for 20 years, which are great (although no idea what I'd look like if I didn't do them)

QueenOfIce · 02/10/2018 18:51

I had my 1st session a month ago didn't see a difference however I have just finished a week of early mornings and back to back flights. Normally after this sort of thing I'd look like I'd been dug up but I've arrived home today and my skin looks bloody lovely! So I take it back it took a month but today I've seen the difference so I'll have my 2nd session this week.

holly30 · 05/10/2018 10:05

Queen - Thats good news! I have my second session today. Really hoping there will be some longer lasting results second time round!

I seemed to get a nice effect for about 7-10 days then it went.

holly30 · 06/10/2018 16:01

Went for my second lot of injections yesterday. I explained that I had a great glow and smoothness for the first week after the first treatment but then nothing after that but that my skin hydration is better than when I first went to the clinic but I would say I wasn't wowed with the results just yet. The nurse said younger people (like me in their 30's) tend to only have one session however I didn't feel that it did enough so I wanted to try the second session as everywhere I have read says have 2 sessions to see max results.

I actually asked if she could change the injection sites to further into my face rather than right around the edges as I have good skin there and the hydration levels seemed to improve in the areas where my skin is good anyway so I asked if we could try moving into my inner cheeks which she did as their I have rough texture and dehydration.

The lumps aren't as bad this time round and mostly gone aside from my inner cheeks and the right one near my temple. Staying in this weekend!

I just hope that the results are longer lasting this time and not just good for the first week. Will have to just be patient and wait and see!

Truckingonandon · 07/10/2018 19:19

Hope you see some improvement Holly. Sadly, mine has been a complete waste of money.

holly30 · 07/10/2018 20:20

Such a shame it has been a waste of money for you. It seems ti be very hit and miss.

I have seen improvement today but as I say I hope it isn't short lived like last time. I have skin damage which is like a chemical burn under my eyes which has caused two very crepey spots under each eye. They look awful with makeup on as the texture is so rough. I can see them smoothing out but it could be that it lasts a week or so like the first treatment so I will have to report back in a few weeks.

holly30 · 15/10/2018 12:45

So I had my second session on the 5th and my skin appears to deff be improving. It is a lot plumper and my crepey bits under my eyes are almost gone on the left and about 70% better on the right so I am thrilled about that! My rough textures seems to be reduced also so I am pleased with how it is going.

I am concerned with how long it is going to last though and I feel on edge as I will beyond gutted if it lasts only a month or so, mainly as I feel like I am getting my skin back finally after nearly a year of hell and just it costs a lot too so it needs to be fairly long lasting.
