Face tinkerers - Profhilo is flippin' brill

I have started many threads over the years about the non-surgical fixes I have had: botox, liquid face lift, threads etc... Anyway, about a year and a half ago I did realise that I was looking a bit done - my honest friend told me and she was right - I thought I was subtle but tweakage is cumulative and before you know it ... well, you know.

I am still very interested in all that shizz so I popped to my clinic and asked if there was anything that would not freeze my face, make me look less knackered but still my age (46) . That's when they recommended Profhilo.
It's a course of two treatments a month apart. 5 injections on each side of the face with pure hyarulonic acid which then spreads across your face and encourages your own collagen and elastin to rebuild.V clever.
I had my first round on Tuesday so expected no results whatsoever but woke up on Saturday with the skin of a baby. It already feels dead plump, pores have disappeared and there is some slight lifting. It's not even supposed to be working yet but I feel I look so much better.

Cannot wait to see full results after two treatments.

I'm 50 and was a sun worshipping teen so I deserve every age spot and more!!!

Peridot1 · 14/09/2018 13:26

No changes here as yet except DH reckons the lump on my cheek is bigger. And it’s bruised so is noticeable!

Truckingonandon · 14/09/2018 15:16

It took 5 days for my lumps to fully disappear.

holly30 · 14/09/2018 15:31

The ones round the temples really lingered for me!

Delatron · 14/09/2018 19:49

Lasers are great for sun spots and sun damage but expensive and some down time.

holly30 · 16/09/2018 21:08

Anybody seen any improvement yet for those who have just had the treatment? It's been ten days since I had the first lot of injections and have seen small improvements each day, nothing for the last day or so so wondering if that's the best it will get or of it there is more improvement to come.

Anyone who has done the course keep improving each day or did you reach a point where you saw some and then had to wait until the second lot of injections to see further changes?

Effendi · 18/09/2018 14:17

I'd love to have this done and the price is not too bad but I've just watched some videos and I'm worried about the bumps.

Peridot1 · 18/09/2018 14:23

My bumps have gone - had my second session on Thursday. I do still have two bruises though! Both right on my cheekbone pretty much. They are fading gradually.

I do think I can see a difference in my skin but realistically it takes about two weeks after the second session so I’m not expecting much at this stage.

holly30 · 18/09/2018 16:01

@effendi - dont worry about the bumps mine all went after 12 hours aside from the two by my temples which lasted 3 days. Do it on a Friday so you have the weekend to hide!

@peridot - good to hear you can see a difference. I had my first set of injections on the 6th sept and I have seen improvement but feel as though it has come to a halt. I am wondering why you need two treatments, I cant find anything online that really gives a good explanation why and why they needs to be 2 weeks apart.

Peridot1 · 18/09/2018 16:14

I had read that they needed to be four weeks apart but the guy who did mine said it didn’t really matter - 3 or 4 was ok.

holly30 · 18/09/2018 16:26

Sorry I meant to put 4 weeks apart in the last message! I am just wondering why it is 4 weeks apart and if what is injected the second time is the same as the first time or if it is different.

Peridot1 · 18/09/2018 16:59

It’s the same. It’s hylauronic acid. As it leaves lumps maybe the two sessions are to let the first lot dissipate through the skin.

holly30 · 19/09/2018 14:19

I read the first session was to stimulate and the second was to boost...not sure if that's just buzz words. No more improvements after the first initial week. My second lot is 5th October so hoping I see more improvement then.

QueenOfIce · 19/09/2018 16:25

No real improvement here after almost 3 weeks. I don't think I'm going to go for my 2nd lot £600 is a lot to spend if it doesn't work.

Mumsnutishere · 19/09/2018 16:31

I am three weeks post my second treatment with NO improvement at all.

holly30 · 19/09/2018 16:56

I have read the results come 4-8 weeks after the second treatment but i do understand it is a lot to pay if you haven't had any improvement at all. My skin was severely dehydrated so i think that's probably why i have seen some improvement after my first lot but have seen nothing after the first 7 days.

@mumsnutishere I think you may still be too early for final results perhaps

It is annoying when you feel something hasn't worked especially as it isn't cheap.

Mumsnutishere · 19/09/2018 17:05

It's a huge amount to pay @holly30 but my fault for being a sheep I suppose. The lady who did mine was lovely, I have to say she was quite cagey about the effects but after reading this thread I was determined to go through with it. I am very anti- botox and fillers as I think you can always tell but this seemed different and appealed to me. I will definitely come back and update after 4 weeks has passed.

holly30 · 19/09/2018 17:11

Everyone has raved about results so I don't think you were a sheep! it could just be taking a while perhaps as it is different for everyone. some people on here have seen complete transformation after a few days but I have only seen some improvement so maybe we will all react different depending on age, lifestyle etc. I am 30 but ladies who are older than me have had better results in the first 4 weeks than me from the sound of it and you would think it would be the other way round with younger skin perhaps. All a bit of a mystery!

PurpleNailVarnish · 19/09/2018 17:50

I've been lurking.

Today I went for my first pre Botox consultation.
While I was there I also asked about Profhilo.
I'd done my homework and the woman I saw is a registered nurse with years of experience of non-surgical procedures.

I'd taken my glasses off so she could look at my face when I brought up the subject of Profhilo. She said that she does do it and she'd just done it on/to herself.
She admitted that her face was a bit bruised and puffy.

I put my glasses back on and looked at where she'd had the Profhilo and I could see it was bruised, purple bruising and raised like bad prosthetics, I could see colour of the bruising, even though she was wearing plenty of foundation.
Is that normal?

cathyandclare · 19/09/2018 18:22

I can't talk for anyone else but I had no noticeable swelling, lumps or bruising by fifteen minutes afterwards. I went out for drinks with friends with just eye makeup and lipstick and I don't think anyone noticed. I couldn't see anything in a mirror.

holly30 · 19/09/2018 19:59

I would say it is normal, I had lumps for 3 days and also a bruise on one side of may face. I didn't put makeup on as it was a Friday so I just left my face bare over the weekend. It would have looked pretty awful if i had tried to put makeup on. I suppose it depends when she had it but if she was working she probably had to try cover with makeup.

PurpleNailVarnish · 19/09/2018 22:25

Thank you for your replies.

It was more the lumpiness than the bruising that made me think 'ouch'!

Peridot1 · 20/09/2018 03:34

I had a few lumps first time and after the second session I have bruises. One worse than the other but both right on cheekbone. They are fading. I just put some concealer on now.

PurpleNailVarnish · 20/09/2018 06:08

That's it Peridot1 these were lumpy patches on her cheekbones.
As she had injected it into herself I'm hoping she would do a better job on someone else, but it didn't instil confidence in me!

Peridot1 · 20/09/2018 08:23

It does leave lumps for a bit. My first ones took about 48 hours to disappear fully but they were not really noticeable. The bruises are definitely more noticeable! DH did say the lump on one was bigger the morning after I had my second session but the lump went just leaving the bruise.
