Face tinkerers - Profhilo is flippin' brill

I have started many threads over the years about the non-surgical fixes I have had: botox, liquid face lift, threads etc... Anyway, about a year and a half ago I did realise that I was looking a bit done - my honest friend told me and she was right - I thought I was subtle but tweakage is cumulative and before you know it ... well, you know.

I am still very interested in all that shizz so I popped to my clinic and asked if there was anything that would not freeze my face, make me look less knackered but still my age (46) . That's when they recommended Profhilo.
It's a course of two treatments a month apart. 5 injections on each side of the face with pure hyarulonic acid which then spreads across your face and encourages your own collagen and elastin to rebuild.V clever.
I had my first round on Tuesday so expected no results whatsoever but woke up on Saturday with the skin of a baby. It already feels dead plump, pores have disappeared and there is some slight lifting. It's not even supposed to be working yet but I feel I look so much better.

Cannot wait to see full results after two treatments.

Any recommendations for a London clinic?

Truckingonandon · 09/09/2018 07:38

The Consultant Clinic.

TheOnlyAletheia · 09/09/2018 08:52

I had my first session 2 weeks ago and it has definitely made a difference. My skin is plumper and just generally looks so much better. It’s lifted my slightly sagging jawline and filled out the middle of my face. Whilst I can still see lines, they are softened.

Last week I saw my hairdresser who I’ve been going to for 10 years and the first thing she said was “you look different” without knowing that I had had any treatment.

DameDoom · 09/09/2018 14:28

TheOnlyAletheia I'm so pleased you are already seeing results. I have had the week from hell here and it normally shows on my face straight away, but to look at me, you wouldn't be able to tell.

Hi All!

I have been reading this thread for a few days and just wanted to share my experience with Profhilo so far. I am 30 years old and earlier this years suffered a lot of damage from a retin a cream and my face hasn't been the same since, literally over night I got fine lines, open pores, rough skin and massive dehydration. All derms will say this cream cant do the damage but I have found countless stories of people like me online. i have tried a million products and nothing is working and I am getting desperate now especially since i am a bridesmaid in 6 weeks.

I went to get the profhilo more for a huge dose of hydration and to hopefully help with my terrible skin texture which makes me look rough and older than i am...I cant even bear to look in the mirror in natural light.

I went to a clinic in Manchester and had it done on Thursday 6th. It did sting above my lips and in the chin areas but I have quite a high pain tolerance so it didn't bother me. I actually had lumps that lasted until Sunday so mine took a long time to go down but left no bruising at all.

I am desperate to see results but have seen nothing yet but she did say it could be 2-3 weeks before i see anything. I guess since i had bumps still on sunday the product had not spread so perhaps i should start from the Monday (as in yesterday) as my starting point for this working.

I have had a fillers which i had a reaction to in the past in my lips and had to have dissolved and then the retin a I had trouble with so I am really worried about it not working as I seem to have no luck with anything I try anti-aging wise. i have had success with botox though in forehead.

I am seeing a couple of people say they haven't had results but the treatment does involve a second set of injections so hoping I see something. Sometimes I think I can and then i look in natural light and I'm like nope still the same!

For those that have had it did you see a gradual change or just suddenly notice a difference?? Did you notice any difference to your skin texture especially on the cheeks, this is where i have quite bad texture issues?

Thanks!

Hi holly -really sorry you are having such problems after the retin a. That’s pretty scary. I really hope the profhilo helps you.

As well as topical treatments are you taking any supplements to help your skin. Collagen and hylauronic acid (profhilo is hylauronic acid) may help from the inside. Have a look at the Victoria Health website as it’s quite helpful. I think if you email them they can suggest solutions.

holly30 · 11/09/2018 15:05

Hi Thanks so much me too!

Oh my word I am taking everything under the sun, collagen, zinc, hylauronic acid, vitamin c, vitamin e, tumeric for inflammation and omega 3,6 and 9.

Topical treatments I am using vitamin c and factor 50 suncream in the morning and then 5% eurocin in the evening with a layer of vaseline to keep the moisture in (horrible to sleep in!)

The worst thing is things improved for about 2 months and then i woke up again back at square one, my skin changes over night and anyone i see keeps telling me its not possible or advising on more retin a! Given up on derms they just suggest moisturisers, more retin a or lasers. I have read too many horror stories on lasers to even consider it. So just hoping this works as i am tired of hating my skin, last year I turned 30 and my skin was great and i am just hoping to have some improvement!

QueenOfIce · 11/09/2018 15:13

@holly30 drink lots and lots of water. My face has been crumpled with a sleep line for ages I looked a bit grey and very dehydrated no matter what I used.

I normally drink between 1.5 & 2 Litres of water a day but for a week I drank 3 litres a day..10 days later my skin was plump and has such a lovely glow I was almost tempted to cancel my profhilo app even the dr doing it said I looked great.

Maybe give it a go?

holly30 · 11/09/2018 15:24

Thanks for the tip! I drink around 2 litres and then quite a lot of green tea. I wonder if it has to be 3litres pure water opposed to 2 litres and cups of green tea on top?

QueenOfIce · 11/09/2018 16:02

I just drank 3 litres of pure water, alongside my usual tea.

holly30 · 11/09/2018 16:07

I will give it a go although now I have had the first profhilio treatment it will be hard to gage incase i do see improvements from the treatment if the extra water helps! I am so impatient!

QueenOfIce · 11/09/2018 16:15

It definitely won't hurt alongside it, I'm keeping my intake up it's just better for me all round.

holly30 · 11/09/2018 16:31

When did you start to see results from your profhilo? Was it after the first or second set of injections?

QueenOfIce · 11/09/2018 16:39

I only had my 1st lot last Thursday so as yet I can't see any change from all the H2O!

holly30 · 11/09/2018 16:43

I too had mine on Thursday, really hoping my texture improves. What did you want to achieve with the procedure? Funny enough i do have lines etc but they don't bother my like the rough texture does.

lilraven · 11/09/2018 17:43

Just had the first lot of injections a few hours ago, didn't hurt too much, will keep you all updated if I see any change!

holly30 · 11/09/2018 18:23

Please do! Really want to hear from anyone who is waiting for the magic like me!

holly30 · 13/09/2018 13:46

Just a little update now I am a week on. I think I can see improved hydration which is what I was after although I am not going to get carried away just yet! Hopefully I will continue to see further improvements as I can see it gradually getting better each day so far, although very minimal.

Does anyone know the science behind why you need two treatments 4 weeks apart, I can't seem to find anything online. My nurse said I may only need one as I am only 30 but I think i will ask her to do the second one anyway just incase there could be further improvements as everywhere seems to say you need the 2 treatments.

Those that have had it did you see more improvements after the first or second round of injections?

Peridot1 · 13/09/2018 14:34

I had my second session today. He used two vials as he said I would get better results. I think I could see a slight difference before the session and he said he could see a bit of a glow. I’m going back in a couple of weeks so he can see the results as he says it takes that long.

holly30 · 13/09/2018 14:48

Maybe the best results come after the second treatment? Hopefully you will see further improvements in a couple of weeks.

If I continue to keep seeing improvements each day I can see it being really effective for what I want it to do!

Peridot1 · 13/09/2018 16:05

Yes the results come a couple of weeks after the second treatment from what I understand.

I really hope it works for you holly. Fingers crossed!

holly30 · 13/09/2018 17:25

Thanks Peridot! Hoping tomorrow is another day of further improvement.

I hope you get the results you are hoping for too. Let me know if you see more improvements after your second round.

cathyandclare · 14/09/2018 08:09

Second lot yesterday for me. My skin definitely looked better in the after photos, plumper and lines were softer. I was surprised because I was feeling terrible and looked knackered- but not as tired and terrible as I did 4 weeks ago clearly!

No lumps again and my skin seemed to just slurp up the injections. Nothing major, but I look a bit more glowy this morning, which is weird as I had a bad night's sleep. Anyway, I'll update when I've lost ten year in a fortnight Grin

What have you all found best for age spots, I developed a couple on holiday despite care and a hat and would like to nuke them.

QueenOfIce · 14/09/2018 10:08

I had my 1st lot 8 days ago and if I'm honest I look worse than I did when I went in! I was fairly glowy and we questioned if I needed it but did it anyway. I am not seeing any benefit at all as yet.

holly30 · 14/09/2018 10:49

@cathyandclare glad to hear your skin is looking better, jealous that you had no bumps after the injections, mine lasted 3 whole days!

It's rude to ask ages so I won't but I don't have any age spots so can't help there I'm afraid! Perhaps a skin peel. A lot of people recommend retin a but I never would after my experience because it damaged my skin for good but then again I didn't use it properly due to poor advice. I have heard it can help with sun damage though and you can get fairly light ones that aren't as strong over the counter.

@QueenOfIce sorry you feel you look worse, I am sure that is temporary. I would say that If i had fairly decent skin to begin with I doubt i would have noticed any improvement after only a week but because the damage and dehydration I have is quite obvious and has been so upsetting I notice every single thing as I have been obsessing for months so I think that's why I have seen changes more obviously perhaps if that makes sense. If you already have good skin perhaps you don't feel as though much is happening just yet but I am sure after another couple of weeks there will be improvement.
