Face tinkerers - Profhilo is flippin' brill

I have started many threads over the years about the non-surgical fixes I have had: botox, liquid face lift, threads etc... Anyway, about a year and a half ago I did realise that I was looking a bit done - my honest friend told me and she was right - I thought I was subtle but tweakage is cumulative and before you know it ... well, you know.

I am still very interested in all that shizz so I popped to my clinic and asked if there was anything that would not freeze my face, make me look less knackered but still my age (46) . That's when they recommended Profhilo.
It's a course of two treatments a month apart. 5 injections on each side of the face with pure hyarulonic acid which then spreads across your face and encourages your own collagen and elastin to rebuild.V clever.
I had my first round on Tuesday so expected no results whatsoever but woke up on Saturday with the skin of a baby. It already feels dead plump, pores have disappeared and there is some slight lifting. It's not even supposed to be working yet but I feel I look so much better.

Cannot wait to see full results after two treatments.

There are 5 injection points on either side of the face so targeting the whole rather than specific areas. None on the forehead though.
I was definitely told that two treatments were necessary and I see lots of improvement after my 2nd so I'm glad I listened to advice.
I don't think it would target deep lines if I'm
honest, it's more of a 'refreshed face' effect. If you had specific areas you want to fix, you may still need fillers or Botox. Lines have softened but certainly haven't disappeared but that's fine by me, depends on what look you're after.

Delatron · 31/08/2018 21:26

Thanks JustGettingStarted, I tried Absolute collagen but was £££ per month. Those look cheaper and it’s good to eat a recommendation!

JustGettingStarted · 31/08/2018 22:06

Yeah the stuff sold at boots and Superdrug is really expensive. I initially thought it looked scammy. But I looked into the powder after my friend recommended it and did more research. Apparently, there really are studies showing that ingesting collagen has visible effects on the skin.

Algorta · 01/09/2018 08:05

But DameDoom, your smooth forehead, lovely as it is, is obviously very botoxed. Is the smooth face not just the effect of fillers done pre Profhilo?

MurunBuchstansagur · 01/09/2018 08:24

Is it any good for lip/smokers lines?

Truckingonandon · 01/09/2018 09:17

I'm interested in taking collagen but the one linked to isn't vegetarian. Not sure if veggie collagen will have the same effect but I'm off to do some research.....

DameDoom · 01/09/2018 18:39

Algorta the last time I had cheek fillers and Botox done was April 2017. Having said that, I did have Botox for years so I do look smoother than most when my face is at rest -as soon as my face starts to move, you can see it's not Botoxed anymore. That was what I specifically wanted to get away from.

The Profhilo really does make you look smooth due to the massive amounts of HA and although it is not injected into the forehead, it travels and spreads which is the complete opposite of fillers.

Hand on heart - I did not start this thread to be disingenuous. I just wanted to share what is, in my opinion, a groundbreaking treatment.

I read that each injection of profhilo spreads the hylauronic acid around 2cm from the injection site. If this is the case, it can't have any effect on the forehead can it?

JustGettingStarted · 02/09/2018 19:46

I'm also interested in tear trough fillers and getting a bit of botox at the comers of my eyes. I think maybe that would take care of the hollowed eyed/gaunt thing and crow's feet.

pontiouspilates · 03/09/2018 07:31

I am 50 and have never
'tweaked' but am starting to
look 'tired' so this is very tempting. Question is; have I left it too late?

Truckingonandon · 03/09/2018 08:25

Ponti - hhmmm, well, no treatment is ever going to make you look 30 again but you can definitely freshen up a bit. Profhilo isn't going to eradicate wrinkles or jowls but it might give a bit of a subtle lift and plumping effect. It's a bit like entry-level filler! That said, a friend of mine in her late 60s started having fillers, Botox etc and she looks fantastic and you can't tell she's had anything done either. She pays a lot of money though on a regular basis.

pontiouspilates · 03/09/2018 12:34

Thanks for the honest feedback. I'm not after looking younger - just a bit leas knackered! Might be worth a shot (excuse the pun!)

QueenOfIce · 06/09/2018 14:02

I had my 1st treatment today, it was pretty uncomfortable in places but the sting went away after around 20 mins. Hopefully I'll see a difference before my next lot next month.

Mckmck123 · 06/09/2018 19:04

Well I had my first profhilo treatment nearly a month ago and I have noticed nothing
So I'm not willing to spend another £350 with out at least seeing some little improvements

Delatron · 06/09/2018 20:25

That’s annoying Mckmck. Have the clinic said anything?

Mckmck123 · 07/09/2018 10:09

Maybe it's just me. , she did say I might not see any improvement until after the next treatment but I cannot bring myself to spend another £350 without even a little improvement showing , especially after reading that everyone else on this thread seems to have noticed something

Mckmck123 · 07/09/2018 10:19

Truckingonand on. What are your results like now

MotherofTerriers · 07/09/2018 12:41

Has anyone had this done successfully in Glasgow/Renfrewshire/North Ayrshire?

Truckingonandon · 07/09/2018 19:59

Improvement is minimal to be honest but I have my 2nd appointment next week and I'm going through with it, as the treatment is 2 lots of injections, so I'm holding out for a result then. The nurse doing mine has been very honest though and said it doesn't give fabulous results but then I don't expect it to. There's only so much that can be done without serious intervention.

Mckmck123 · 07/09/2018 22:53

Well thanks for your answer truckingonandon. Would love to hear what results you get after the second treatment
I’m not going to have the second lot of injections
So let’s hope you get some real results as the reviews have been good

Peridot1 · 08/09/2018 07:56

I have my second lot this week too. So far I can’t say I see much if any difference. But I’m assuming that’s partly because it is a two stage process.

. Mckmck123 - I think if I didn’t have the second lot of injections I would feel I had wasted £350 as from everything I’ve read you see more results after the second injections.

cathyandclare · 08/09/2018 08:08

I'm having my second lot this week too. I do think my skin is a bit plumper but I'll be interested to see the pics on Tuesday.

Mckmck123 · 08/09/2018 13:12

Please let me know your results after a few weeks and maybe I will go on for the 2nd treatment. Cowardly I know ha ha
I'm sure if I'm I'm a few weeks late it will be ok
Thanks for responding

I think quite a number of posters need to think about fillers and Botox for really noticeable results.

Profhilo is maybe too subtle as it does not change the face structurally like Juverderm can and it certainly does not iron out creases like Botox. It does seem that only macymacy and I are truly happy with our results and we have both gone down the filler/Botox route in the past.
Botox and filler are fabulous but, as I said in my original post, there is a timeline before you start looking 'done'. It's been commented on here that I have a face full of filler and Botox - I had both for years but don't now.
If you want to look significantly fresher but still the same, Profhilo is great. If you feel jowly and very saggy, then some scaffolding with Juvederm will be money well spent.
