I think it's bulky but with bare arms which seems like a mismatch. A mac would look great on her (in cool weather!) and she looks good in sleeveless dresses. This just seems like a bad compromise. Plus the cape thing at the back sticks out.

The belt always looks in the wrong position to me but maybe she is high waisted?

I'm high waisted and never wear a belt for that reason. Belts never look like they're in the right position.

Having looked at several of her belted outfits, I've come to the conclusion that although she's very slim, she doesn't have much of a waist to hip ratio and her figure is fairly straight up and down. That could be why some belts look like they don't sit right on her. I have the same problem, so I can sympathise!

Curly I thought Harry was looking good too!

I looked it up and the cape on the back is called a storm flap, originally designed to keep off rain. The extra bit of material on the right shoulder is a gun flap. I think both those details needed to go really, because, as Clionba says, the layers of material don't work for a sleeveless dress.

What I think might have worked better: this or this.

Burberry have produced a trench dress this season but it actually had a proper Burberry buckle belt, so Meghan’s is a copy. It’s ok but not wonderful. I thought her khaki at the baptism was a bit dull. Shane the hat was equally dull. She’ll hopefully get the hang of working with designers before long!

Those storm flaps and gun flaps are traditional Burberry design who made rain coats for the army in the First World War. It’s a graciously dedign but doesn’t always look good on a dress.

Traditional design......

She could always put some weight on if she wants to wear those clothes! I don't know why she doesn't just get a smaller size?

I do think Meghan would suit stronger colors more, she looks washed out in all those pastels.

I agree. I think she'd look great in Emerald green or a really strong purple. I'd also love to see her in super glam evening wear with a tiara!

If you google "Meghan Markle red carpet", she is in jewel colours, black or silver, and often wearing red lipstick, which she never uses now.

Would be great to see her break out a silver gown/red lip for an evening event.

I don’t think she suits pale pink shades at all and I think she’s worn too many outfits that look like a coat in some way. I also prefer her hair down...loved it on her engagement photos

......wonder what she says about me?!

Well, I can imagine her advice to me:

  • You need a longer raincoat, your hems are sticking out underneath and it looks messy
  • Maybe do something with your hair once in a while other than sticking it in a butterfly clip
  • Polka dots are not a neutral

And so on.

I really don’t like the sleeveless trench dress. It does nothing for her. Why oh why does she keep wearing such awful clothes that don’t flatter her beautiful figure at all? Does she have a stylist does anyone know?

Apparenly Harry has been advising her until she gets a stylist.

I think the whole - bundled up in clothes a bit big- vibe is sending a message to say 'I didn't get here just because of my rockin' bod. Please take me seriously.'

Her clothes are just so badly fitting. That pink tench horror looks too big on her collar bones for some bizarre reason. It's honestly the worst thing I've seen her wear I think... She looked good at the tennis BUT the white trousers were too long.

Well, I can imagine her advice to me:

^^

God knows what she'd say to me. I'm wearing a Karrimore outlet t-shirt and 3/4 length leggings

Slightly changing the subject, but Kate’s stylist, Natasha Archer is pregnant. Will be interesting to see if Kate changes the way she dresses a bit once Natasha is on maternity leave...
Or maybe that wardrobe of coat dresses is just ingrained.

Back in the day, Diana used to live in Catherine Walker coat dresses. Maybe Kate is trying to emulate her style (future queen and all that).

Agree with pp that Meghan is short bodied, but luckily slim, so she is not an apple. She had a run of great shapes, for the recent high profile engagements and went tailored. Now she’s dipped back into her Canadian wardrobe & is going a bit backwards again.

Just as an aside, as Kate is long bodied, I actually think she would look great in some wrap coats. Maybe Megan could lend her a few of hers!

@Rosina
Thanks for the linky to Tom & Lorenzo.
I love their commentary, the one on Kate “I’m back bitches” in the yellow Dolce at Wimbledon was hilarious! They are so funny about Diana too. Love them!

I found this in teresting [[http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/gallery/meghan-markle-interview-about-suits-the-outnet-and-her-love-of-clothes article]] Meghan gave to glamour magazine when she was talking about how how Suits changed her life. She gives some interesting pointers to her personal style.
She really likes Emmanuelle Alt the current editor of French Vogue.
I must admit, that slightly undone French Style really suits her. Although I think the former editor Carine Roitfeld would suit her better, as Meghan looks great in a pencil skirt.

There are definitely some elements of her Rachel Zane wardrobe which would work for royal engagements. Pencil skirt with Shirt. Meghan is still learning and is doing great.

Megs ain't no coat hanger like Kate and Diana was. Somehow she doesn't wear it well.
I think she should stick to cut off old Levi's and t-shirts. Like I do Wink
No seriously you can see how she isn't happy in those clothes.
She needs a new personal shopper me

Am I the only one who thinks MM wears things that are too big so that she doesn’t do a wardrobe change when she falls pregnant and everyone instantly guesses?!
