Seeing as the Spencer wedding thread in S&B was so popular, here's a thread to discuss all royal fashion.

(If we could stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women wearing them then that would be great!)

I live Megan's style I don't think she's 'gone frumpy' as per the article at all.

I just looked at the Youtube CBK/Meghan wardrobe comparison, interesting.

I really like Megan's style, much nicer than Kate's and really age/position appropriate.

As a half black woman Meghan is already meeting white ideals about hair by using chemicals to straighten.

Not to derail but Meghan’s not the only one using straighteners in the BRF. Kate does too, her hair is actually really frizzy as well (college photos don’t lie). So while the ideal falls heavily on WOC it’s not exclusive. Why is curly hair considered so unfashionable and even unprofessional?

I think it is much harder to achieve what is perceived as a ‘groomed’ look with curly hair. I remember reading a post on MN about going to an interview/being part of the corporate world with curly hair being unacceptable. It stuck in my memory as I have and come from a family who all have curly hair and I remember having conversations with my sister about how impossibly hard it is to look sleek and sophisticated when you have our hair!

That said of course it is not impossible to achieve, look at Andy McDowell, but it takes a certain texture of hair and a very good haircut and a multitude of styling products.

Meghan is a strong and confident woman, rich and influential. If she wants to keep straightening her hair, it's her choice, but I'd love to see what it's like naturally. (I often thought that about Michelle Obama as well). I hope this doesn't offend anyone of colour, I do not mean this in a negative way at all.

I think the difference with their hair is that a blow dry and GHDs is probably all that's needed to achieve Kate's 'do but Meghan will have to resort to chemical treatments. I'd love to see her rocking her natural locks one day, but years of chemical straightening can damage curls and cause them to lose their shape.

Kate's in a bright yellow Dolce e Gabbana dress at Wimbledon. Slim fit, cap sleeves. Love it! (maybe her handbag has tennis balls on it )

And where do you think you got this idea from? Of course you can look groomed with curly hair. The problem is the perception and those creating that perception who are prejudiced, that’s what needs to be changed.

I don’t know what her natural hair looks like, but let’s be fair, she was straightening her hair Pre Harry. Very few black women actually, ‘rock their natural locks’, simply becuase braiding, straightening etc is easier. It’s come back into fashion in the last few years but even so most black women still use attachments to achieve their natural look, ironically.

I say live and let live, she can do her hair however she likes, as do I.

Did you read my post properly Happiness ? I said ‘what is perceived as a groomed look. I know only too well the trials and tribulations of curly hair because everyone in my family has it including my children!

I don’t agree Harry is ‘hot’. He is hot in comparison to his immediate family but otherwise is a fairly ordinary average guy.

Harry is just ok- he was cuter without the beard.
I always think Princess Michael's son Lord Frederick Windsor has a real look of his forbears. He could have stepped out of a painting / photograph of the Royals circa 1900 .
He is married to Claudia Winkleman's half sister.

@beanaseireann Not only Frederick but his father Prince Michael too. He has such a look of George V/Tsar Nicholas II about him. Come to think of it, so has James Middleton!

Love Kate's dress, really stands out in the crowd when the tv camera pulled back. Her hair looks lovely today.

I don’t know why MM is being urged to rock her normal curly hair, loling considering you would be hard pushed to find anyone who wears their hair natural without any styling or colouring. I think both MM and Kate wear extensions. I’m not a natural blonde either
