Seeing as the Spencer wedding thread in S&B was so popular, here's a thread to discuss all royal fashion.

(If we could stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women wearing them then that would be great!)

Love Kate's handbag too.

Love Meghan’s look. I just feel a bit ocd about her trouser hems dragging on the floor. Will totally be buying some palazzo pants this autumn.

Kate looks neat but nothing earth shattering.

I bet both of them were happy not to have spent the morning at the hairdressers.

Ps, why all the Letizia and Felipe references today? I take it they didn’t sneak into Wimbledon?

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/07/2018 14:17

@Clionba Is this the dress you were referring to?

@CurlyWurlyTwirly Meghan's palazzo pants are by Ralph Lauren and can be yours for about £1000!

Meghan is so pretty.
She must have been running late for her car and driver - she forgot to put in her earrings.
It's happened to me a few times Blush
I love the shirt but hate the silly overlong trousers.
Kate's 'tennis ball' dress is so appropriate.
She is more of a lady than many born into the aristocracy.
Mum and Dad Middleton should be so proud of her.

Clionba · 14/07/2018 14:36

Yes, Queen! Love it! Kate loves a bit of literal dressing. I like Meghan mixing it up a bit.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 14/07/2018 14:39

I think they actually make a good team. Meghan is more adventurous and exciting but I do honestly think Kate always looks wonderful (if a little predictable).

I would love them to be actual friends, which I know sounds a bit pathetic Blush

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/07/2018 14:44

I think the difference is that although Kate always looks nice and appropriate, she isn't naturally stylish like Meghan is.

FLicked through the Letizia slideshow. I really don’t find her style that inspiring.

I have however bought a panama post Meghan, and I will be looking in probably M&S ( not RL @Queen!) for some wide pants. Anyone lose admit to some Royal style inspiration ?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/07/2018 14:57

Anyon else think Letizia looked like she was going to an 80s revival party in this get up. ? I am really not liking the hair....

Clionba · 14/07/2018 15:03

You're right, Curly, not keen on the hair! She does try new looks, though and I do love the red dress.

Clionba · 14/07/2018 15:30

Just looking at Kate and Meghan in the Royal Box. It's like Kate thought, is there a dress with something like a tennis ball design??!

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/07/2018 15:41

She is a very literal dresser, remember when she visited Prince Edward Island and dressed as Anne of Green Gables?

OP posts:
Clionba · 14/07/2018 15:44

Ha ha ha!! Bless her. She does love all that. I think I mentioned up thread about a visit to New Zealand where she wore a dress with a massive fern on it! It could have been a kiwi, though, so small mercies.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/07/2018 15:50

Yes she did! A "sulver firn" Grin

Clionba · 14/07/2018 15:59

How can Meghan go out without earrings? I feel undressed without them!

Laiste · 14/07/2018 17:27

I think Meghan looks lovely. Fresh, cool and not predictable.

I think Kate's outfit was the opposite. I really think it looks like a cheap fabric.

In answer to the Q about inspiration from recent royal pics - i've bought a lovely pair of high stiletto pumps. Just about every outfit i own looks better with heels - i used to wear them all the time and i'm inspired to make more effort.

Clionba · 14/07/2018 17:59

Meghan does look great - I'm a bit worried about her tripping on those long trouser legs, though! Nice to see a royal lady in trousers (which aren't jeggings :()

nervousnails · 14/07/2018 18:45

Both of them look a little bit off. I prefer kate's dress though. Those trousers of Meghan's swamp her.

SleepingStandingUp · 14/07/2018 18:56

I thought they looked like coffee beans, maybe they popped into Costa afterwards!

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/07/2018 19:50

I thought for a moment you meant that Kate and Meghan had been hitting the fake tan too hard!

OP posts:
Whitesea · 14/07/2018 19:52

I agree that Meghan is naturally stylish. Kate looks like she always does. I think she just isn’t into clothes at all.

Clionba · 14/07/2018 20:31

I've just been looking at the Ralph Lauren Collection shirt and trousers that Meghan was wearing. Very very expensive. The trousers are white silk! I think white silk trousers would last a minute on me before they got dirty Confused

mathanxiety · 14/07/2018 20:33

I am not sure about the motif on Kate's dress. There is no need to whack the public over the head with the bleeding obvious when you go out. (Agree with beasaseireann that Kate is truly a lady).

She seems to have lightened her hair a bit. It always looks lovely and healthy, imo.

Loved MM's palazzo pants and the striped shirt (presumably a body suit). The handbag she carried was the one she should have taken with her to meet Michael D. Higgins (Irish president) instead of the oversized one. Loved her jaunty panama hat - I haven't seen any photos of her wearing it to the tennis but I think it would have looked fantastic.

DD2 had the chance to see Letizia up close when she and Felipe visited her US university a couple of years ago. DD reported that Letizia was 'a goddess' of style and deportment, and decided to revamp her own image afterwards but gave up exhausted after a week the point where she ran out of clean clothes
