WWW's six week 10year younger boot camp, WEEK 2 May-June 07

WideWebWitch · 21/05/2007 07:29

This is week 2 of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

Veils drawn over last week

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Morning all. Just taken dog for a long walk - kept going until I'd got up to 7000 steps. Poor thing is now flopped out ay my feet. i am going to be so good this week because Im going on holiday next week and I want to wear bikinis

glitterfairy · 21/05/2007 11:39

Yes it is a bit extraordinary but I think stress played its part. At the start of the week I was facing unemployment and general disaster wiht a waster of an X who is purposely making himself unemployed and giving me nothing and by the end of the week I had three job offers!

I find taking care of myself amongst all of this a little stressful but actually it makes me feel so much better and able ot cope.

motherinferior · 21/05/2007 13:16

I am now ready to join in again, having got over my ahem slight hangover

And I've written the little feature I wanted to write this morning so can go and eat some Virtuous Soup.

winnie · 21/05/2007 13:16

glitterfairy, 13lbs
well done you for keeping everything together and looking after yourself despite bastard x. Good for you. (I can't beleive he is still being an arse... you'd think he's moved on and let you get on with your life!) Anyway, well done you

I am feeling very focused this week. I am about to overhaul my entire life and that has come from learning to drive (something I never thought I'd do & keeping going at this which is helping me keep myself together)

batters, I hope dd is better soon.

have a good week everyone

Been to the gym but shouldn't have as I was really tired after a very disturbed night. Should have been doing 4 mins run, 2 mins walk for 30 mins but got to the fourth set and just couldn't keep going (power walked the remainder though). Very disappointed with myself but will give it another go on Wed or even tomorrow night if I'm not too shattered after pilates.

Everything else is going well and I look quite healthy at the moment. Will be having an early night tonight too (will have to tape ER in case it suddenly gets really interesting).

Am shocked at your weight loss Glitterfairy - did you not feel ill? Is this something you have done before?

Winnie - keep us posted on your overhaul.

WWW - sending you positive vibes but your posts suggest that it will all be okay. It might be even better than it is now...

MI - you are sounding more cheerful. Are your energy levels improving now?

Off to build a pirate ship although DS wants a lego model of the Cutty Sark on fire so that he can put it out.

arfishy · 21/05/2007 14:43

at 13lb! Well done Glitterfairy. Apologies for not reading the last thread,
I was on hols, but what was your juice diet?

For WWW I had a big think about what's different between here and the UK and its:

I don't eat anything processed (in the UK I ate a calorie controlled diet but a lot of it was processed)
I wear sunscreen every day and sunglasses without fail (think this is quite Oz specific tho)
I eat 5+2 of fruit and veg. In the UK I didn't.
Here I get a lot of massage and reflexology (chinese and thai - no soft candles and kit off, just very basic $20 stuff)
I go to the gym here

Also I think in general it's a more relaxing lifestyle here. In the UK I was commuting for 1.5 hours each way to get to work 17 miles away, in traffic jams and it was very stressful. Work called me at all hours of the day and night and here they're horrified if you even suggest being available out of hours.

Who knows about the Goji and Acai? It's something different but it's full of anti-oxidants that I didn't take at home. I always thought that it was a more long term thing, but perhaps it does benefit in the short term.

yoyo · 21/05/2007 14:44

Sobernow - meant to add that you must be well chuffed with the possibility of buying the blouse in a Size 10. Our body image is often wide of what we actually are I think.

foxinsocks · 21/05/2007 14:47

I have marched round the whole of Kingston this morning looking for blue tracksuit pants for dd (oh, you'd think it would be soooooo easy to find some).

And happened to notice that Pret serves Rooibos tea so I felt, for marketing purposes, I had to try a cup and then felt I'd need a sandwich to do the cup of tea justice so by the time I'd left, I'd had a chicken and avo sandwich (probably about a million calories), a chocolate brownie type thing oh and a cup of Rooibos tea to wash it down grrrr.

Am making fish pie tonight and will endeavour to only have one glass of wine.

Hope all the runners did ok!

Hello everyone, well I wasn't as bad at the weekend as I thought I would be, but there was a trip to Borough Market, including Neal's Yard Dairy and Konditor and Cook for cake , but we did eat everything we had bought after a nice long walk, sat outside in the lovely sunshine, but we also went out to dinner and drank a lot of wine. I also bought 2 new pairs of shoes this weekend, which made me feel better, as this sixe of my feet doesn't change and when I tried on a strapless dress my skin looked a lot better.

We had a lovely long walk in the woods yesterday with the dog and I got back on the healthy eating wagon. Today I walked to pick up DS1 from pre-school and the ds's took the dog out for a run around today. so have made progress on the walking front.

However, I have wanted to snack a lot today, have nibbled on the ds's toast and eaten the miniature buttons that are supposed to be for ice cream out of the cupboard Still. I'm still trying and haven't lost it totally yet.

WWW, glad you're feeling more positive about your work situation.

Well done to all those who ran at the weekend.

iota · 21/05/2007 18:14

hello all
another week dawns

sometimes I wonder why I'm here, but you're all such nice people that I hate to leave

Exercise not good, eating OK, sleep OK, weekend was bad - stayed with friends and all the over-indulgence that such occasions involve.

dh is away for 3 days this week, so I will endeavour to be a reformed character

foxinsocks · 21/05/2007 18:58

Batters - I ended up getting them in M&S - they were £4 (with the school uniform). They had some lovely leggings type pants for girls in stripy light blue and white (and some other colours) but she needed some navy blue ones so I got them in the school uniform bit (have a feeling they are boys' ones but they will do for school). If you want funkier ones, Zara and H&M had some with patterns.

WideWebWitch · 21/05/2007 19:45

WEll done everyone, and wow at Sobernow. I was last a size 10 in 199bloody7

Late night last night but v nice too
granola
apple
raspberries
apple x2
chicken sandwich, 300 cal
no walking
not enough water
and M&S lamb tonight, 350 cals and veg

Phoned the union today for some advice wrt pos redundancy and their advice was blinding: "look for another job" !!! Oh really? D'ya think?

So, I;m cancelling my subs dd tonight!

Feeling v cheerful though as I have next week off.

winnie · 21/05/2007 20:19

I've had a good, good day.I am positively planning my new life and giving myself lots to look forward to.

Walked at lunchtime, cleansed, drank water etc saw a dear friend & felt happy

feetheart · 21/05/2007 20:39

Nice to hear everyone sounding quite chipper

Not a bad w/e though was a grumpy sod yesterday for no discernible reason. Munching through a bar of Divine choc (shared a little with DS!) whilst doing the Sainsburies shop helped though! I must work MUCH harder at the water intake though, I'm doing OK during the week but woke up thirsty and fuzzy-headed this morning.

Back to bootcamp mode this morning, lots of water (for me), very little nibbling all day, snacked on fruit and managed to walk to and from pre-school twice - at least one trip was VERY fast as we were rather late
Email from Amazon to say that Moron is on its way - I'm getting scarily excited!!

Marina · 21/05/2007 20:49

Oh no, your turn now batters Ds was only really ill for 24 hours, hope dd rallies as quickly
And I saw www's job is likely to be gone in six months time at the end of the last thread too - your union sounds impressive www
I have been away for a long weekend at a smashing family reunion/50th wedding anniversary bash in Devon.
Focussed very much on the being happy - it was a very jolly party - but yomping up and down sand-dunes and round dd's favourite place, Baggy Point - mean I've lost another kilo since last weigh-in.
(As I ate Pavlova at the party I am now waiting nervously for enid to hunt me down and call me shite ).
Omronward and upward to all boot campers this week - anyone see an interesting article in Eve about 4 days to rethink your attitude to eating and your body? Some good ideas there I thought

Marina · 21/05/2007 20:50

Oh and good luck with the driving lessons winnie, you are a braver woman than I so I'll be virtually urging you on with this project
And I never manage my 2 litres when at home either feetheart

kate100 · 21/05/2007 21:01

I saw the article and it made me think of this too.

Marina - I have sinned with pavlova as well

winnie · 22/05/2007 09:21

Oh Marina, I passed my test at the beginning of March and its been fab. It really has changed my life and as it was the one thing I never believed I would do it has boosted my self belief immeasurably Now I am tackling the other thing I thought I'd never achieve
