WWW's six week 10year younger boot camp, WEEK 2 May-June 07

WideWebWitch · 21/05/2007 07:29

This is week 2 of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

Veils drawn over last week

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Www - that sounds a really good experience! Glad you found some nice stuff, it'll be interesting to see what the JL stuff is like. I'm another one venturing out of black! It feels wrong somehow in the summer!

winnie · 25/05/2007 14:40

Tortoiseshell, I don't know whether to tell you this, as I don't want you to take it the wrong way, but your style is so my Mum (who was a very, very stylish woman & always considered much younger than her age at 50 & could often been seen in leathers as she was a biker too). Anyway, before I dig a bigger hole it's a compliment, honest

Quite frankly I don't know what I like for me because I've spent the best part of ten years only buying clothes because they fit usually in black and I am definitely feeling more and more like a Greek widow the older I get. IYKWIM.

I've been doing well and yesterday someone at work said "winnie you're losing weight and you're looking good".

I've been absent as ds has had lurgy too! (I am beginning to wonder if all of this looking after ourselves is not good for our children )

happy bank holiday everyone

tortoiseSHELL · 25/05/2007 14:50

lol winnie! I don't think I really have a 'style' but I know what I like! Your mum sounds fab!

motherinferior · 25/05/2007 16:59

I had a very frightening experience today.

I tried on a bikini. In Evil Tesco, yet.

It was too, too awful. I rippled, undulated, from the norks downwards with a special emphasis on the stomach/s and thighs. I am forcibly reminded of the need to be nicer to DP because I am quite sure nobody else is ever going to want to see me naked, or survive the experience of doing so.

AND I can't go sodding swimming tonight as he's been in bed all day complaining of being Very Ill. With the temerity to suggest it was my delicious chicken curry that laid him low, too

tortoiseSHELL · 25/05/2007 17:06

Oh God MI, I know that feeling, but have never ever dared to even try on a bikini!!! The world is not ready for it!

motherinferior · 25/05/2007 17:12

It was for Holiday Abroad. When I go swimming - which is not madly frequently atm - I wear a stoutly reinforced black lycra all in one jobbie.

I am thinking that the swimming pool (where I bought said garment) does actually sell the kind of two-piece I would dislike least, you know the sort that's essentially a crop top and pants; so I may blow the expense and get that. After all it'll last rather longer than the two-week Evil Tesco number.

tortoiseSHELL · 25/05/2007 17:14

And you can also be smug about not not handing over more cash to the world domination of Tesco!

Lovely clothes Tortoiseshell, and really like the shoes too . I have a long road to travel before I shop for really smart stuff, much less a bikini from any outlet, so am sitting here deriving vicarious pleasure from all your shopping anecdotes. I well remember the day I decided to risk going back into underwires even though I was still feeding dd once a day
Glad you have got some really positive, non-sidey comments winnie you deserve them
Hope you have a great weekend away www, and that all lurgy-sufferers shake off their germs for the bank holiday.

Marina · 25/05/2007 17:22

Oh poo sobernow, I feel your pain and so does my Moron, nestling cheekily in the top of my capacious brassiere
Hope it turns up tomorrow!

prufrock · 25/05/2007 17:39

I'm just not admitting to anything right now. Think I will do a juice diet a la glitterf when i come back from hols.

MI - can I recommend BHS. They have amazing bikini's atm, boy shorts with waists that actually come up to the belly button (I find the tankini things always leave my most wobbly inch of flesh showing) and various tops, including crop tops. Although I found the best thing was to buy a size 20 tie halter neck top, so my norks would actually fit into the cups, and cut the back clip fastening off and just tie the straps really tight. If I say so myself it makes me look passable, as long as I don't sit down and let the thigh cellulite flood out

motherinferior · 25/05/2007 18:14

Prufrock, THANK YOU. I have to say, radical Islam is looking more alluring by the moment. Unlike me.

tortoiseSHELL · 25/05/2007 18:44

Funny you should say that MI - I take ds1 to a gym club which is right in the middle of the 'Indian Quarter' of Bristol, and the Indian women look SO beautiful and cool in their saris and hijabs, I really envied them their clothes!

Dogsby · 25/05/2007 18:45

SO you lot shodul eb 60 years young hten so far
that makes eom of you liek just sperm>

foxinsocks · 25/05/2007 19:18

I hate to say it, but I really think those sort of 2 piece crop top and pants jobbies don't do anyone any favours. Problem I have found (ahem) is that if you have ANY sort of tum, it still manages to peak out between the pants and the top iyswim. I reckon there are some quite nicely shaped one piece jobbies out there - bit more sexy than a speedo effort.

But of course MI, I'm sure you are so svelte, you'd look great in anything.

winnie · 25/05/2007 20:00

MI, just to put things in perspective I have lost two stone(which is good) and can finally see my stomach under my enormoous norks but it is only now that the size of my stomach has become really clear; it is vast and I have a long way to go. I dream of going swimming but I have yet to brave a pool and wonder if I could wear a Victorian type costume that goes from my knees to my chin but that then conjures up images of wet suits and that is just as scary as a bathing costume frankly. So I bow down to everyone who just has the balls to get in a pool BUT having said that h said I looked 'glamorous' tonight

Have enjoyed olives and sundried tomatoes this evening after a day of only 5000 steps (worst day so far!) and decided olives and sundried tomatoes are better than sex but maybe that says more about my non existant sex life than about olives and sundried tomatoes

winnie · 25/05/2007 20:03

I must start calling him 'the x' instead of 'h'

WideWebWitch · 25/05/2007 20:29

Have just been out for Indian meal with dh, ex dh, ex MIL, ds and dd. Had tandoori chicken but alos lots of naan. And bits of other plates. And wine. And this afternoon I had foie gras on toast.

But I had my hair done and I like it.
May go to bed in a minute

We are very like sperm Cod, how observant of you, I'm like this one

Winnie, glad x said yuo looked glam.
Prufrock, are you going on hol then?
MI, I bet it wasn't as bad
Tortoiseshell, saris are v flattering, wish I could live in one

T/SHELL - niiice clothes. I do love a good spree.

Sobernow - any news of liveried footman bearing gifts?

MI - I'm impressed that you even tried a bikini on. I wouldn't dare

I ran a couple of easy miles this morning. Which means it must be time to increase the distance - so I hope my knees can manage.

Have eaten this...
2 wholemeal toast, butter & marmite (the Duchess DOES NOT do butter substitutes)
Coffee
Orange Juice
Poached egg with spinach and some toasted pinenuts
2 large raw carrots
Chilli & Pitta bread
Melon/Grape/Strawberry fruit salad
Coffee
And nearly 1.5 litres of water.

Didn't use sunscreen today but my moisturiser has factor 15 built-in so my face, neck & throat always have some protection.

Looking forward to some outdoor swimming this week.

I have done vaaaaaary vary badly today. Friend popped round early doors with croissants (arrghhh) so ended up having 2 huge ones and a large mug of tea while all the kids destroyed the house.

Then an apple and finally I could resist the nasty cheesy tortilla crisps no longer, so I've just scoffed a huge packet of them along with a cheese and tomato sandwich.

Fish tonight probably with chips and peas so that's not toooooooo bad and luckily, I polished off the wine gums last night so there'll be nothing left calling my name from the kitchen.

Sober - hope your Moron is working! I never do enough steps over the weekend to justify wearing it!

motherinferior · 26/05/2007 17:25

This is the week I go back in the water. Oh yes. It is. Very definitely. I'm quite sure.

I did go this morning. Am planning to go tomorrow although Mr Inferior and I are out for a meal tonight - corblimey, have babysitter and all - so there is an outside chance I might not feel madly like getting into the pool at 8.15ish. However, he's off with the kids most of next week so I'm going to go quite a few mornings. This has been known in the past, honestly, and I've just realised new job starts a week earlier than I'd thought and I would really rather like to look faintly presentable for it.
