Sneaking back in looking shifty as I haven't posted since half term or thereabouts. Lots of empties including Elemis cleansing balm (my favourite), Aveda Extremely Gentle Cleanser (a staple fall back for when my skin is playing up), a couple of random conditioners (nothing of note), travel size LE superskin moisturiser, travel size Marine Cream and more I've forgotten about.

I ordered the new rose Elemis balm but really didn't like it so sent it back. I have bought the Superdrug dupe concealer for Shape Tape which is good colour wise but not as heavy duty as ST. Good for £4.

We have a shift in financial circumstances next month, mostly for the good but I am determined to be better with my DHs money so I'm weaning myself off the expensive stuff and trying to find cheaper alternatives where I can. Ooh, I bought some pink Dove soap today.....just because it's pink! Grin

Cant my DS uses the oatmeal and honey shampoo! He loves it as it's rich enough not to need a conditioner too which is good because he spends long enough in the shower as it is

CantChoose · 24/03/2018 20:46

Haha bunny - he must smell lovely too Grin
I was going to order the rose balm, what don't you like about it? Don't want to order if it's not good!!

suchatiredbunny · 24/03/2018 20:58

I really didn't like the scent! I expected to love it as I like rose but when it came I just didn't like it. Much prefer the original.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/03/2018 22:12

I bought 2 Original Source foam shower gels but in my defence, I have nearly finished a Molton Brown shower gel (Rose Absolute). I'm struggling with this one, I don't like Rose scents but it came in a gift set. It foams nicely though.

Finished some Cowshed hair products (tiny sample sized)

ememem84 · 24/03/2018 22:33

FInished a blanx toothpaste. I really rate this. Am having dental treatment at present (Invisalign) and while that’s doing it’s (currently very uncomfortable) thing I’m trying to brighten my teeth. I have to keep the aligners on for 22 hours a day only removing for eating and drinking anything other than water so my tea and coffee consumption has decreased drastically so less staining. Hoorah!

Have another toothpaste in the stash so will get on that. I think the new one is a blanx stain removal one.

Experiment627 · 25/03/2018 06:32

@rosewater09 well done - great progress!
I did not see anything miraculous happen with Pixi Glow Tonic either.

@IPokeBadgers chuck 'em!

@suchatiredbunny which is this dupe Shape Tape concealer of which you speak?????????

I sadly have no empties to report at this time Sad

ememem84 · 25/03/2018 09:19

@ipokebadgers agree get rid. Old mascaras can be bad for your health.

Ooh I hit the pan on shade 3 of my naked 2 pallet yesterday. Just the tiniest bit of pan showing through. But it’s there.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/03/2018 09:28

I’ve been lurking in the background for a while. You all have nicer products than me, it’s making me want to try things!

This week I’m nearing the end of some NipFab glycolic pads which do leave my skin feeling soft, but are not good for my cheeks as I have rosacea. I tend to wipe the rest of my face then use them on my hands to get the last drops out. 1 left. I won’t buy again.

We’ve been using up dregs of shampoos and conditioners for a few weeks, lots of empties but nothing fancy so won’t list them all.

Used some old nail varnishes to marble some eggs to hang up at Easter- does that count?

And still plodding on with the scented body lotions, currently alternating between a sanctuary spa one and a body shop blueberry butter. The BS one is too thick for everyday use.

I have 2 perfumes, neither of which I particularly like- a Calvin Klein one which I use most days, and A Chanel no19 which I do like but it’s very heavy. I want to use them up before getting a new one, I fancy something citrusy and fresh if anyone has a recommendation?

ememem84 · 25/03/2018 09:43

averagebear hi!! Any empty counts in my book and it doesn’t matter how you use it - for original purpose or for something else.

I’m currently using tommy girl (a nod to my teenage years) it’s fairly fresh and citrusy. But finished up a jo Malone grapefruit perfume which was lovely.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 25/03/2018 09:57

newaveragebear list away! Not always fancy stuff and the achievement is the same!
Perfume wise; I love the original 4711 cologne and Jo Malone Basil and Neroli for citrus freshness but would recommend the Perfume Parlour copies for Jo Malone as last much longer and so much cheaper! Or how about Fig? I get a real freshness from Fig fragrances; body shop or l’artisan perfumer.

I’ve finished another Body Shop set, shower gel and body butter just 1 day apart. Boom as DS says! Fabulous discontinued line, midnight bakula. Have perfume left but bath stuff goes for a lot on eBay. Onto BS mountain! Also finished La Roche Posay serozinc water spray which was great on my sensitised skin last year. And also finished their vitamin C cream. Ok but won’t rush as not sure it did much!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/03/2018 10:06

I do have jo Malone grapefruit, it’s beautiful. I haven’t added it to my using up list because I like to save it for when I need to smell expensive! I have never heard of perfume parlour so I’ll check that out (although prob shouldn’t mention that on here!)

Experiment627 · 25/03/2018 11:12

Wowzers @ememem84 well done! Sso hard to hit pan!

@thenewaveragebear1983 welcome! Any empties are good! I personally like hearing about all products especially if on a good/bad extreme.

So much since I posted earlier today!!!

Anyhoo I now have an empty:

  • Yves Rocher serum vegetal night cream: this is my 3rd jar, I think. The M&S sleep cream is SO much better - going to switch back to that once I have finished up my night cream stash - which I think all are samples now.
OP posts:
Hispterwannabe · 25/03/2018 11:19

I’ve gone a little nuts on the skincare this week and got:

Estée Lauder advanced repair serum
More Nanette de Gaspè masks as they are divine and I can really see the benefits
Murad regenerist serum and the essentials kit (25% off - Caroline25)
Pixi - Glow tonic pads

ememem84 · 25/03/2018 11:32

Thanks! It’s still going to take me about 10 years to finish the whole thing but I’m determined. I will get there.

PurpleNailVarnish · 25/03/2018 13:19

In the past few days I've finished a shampoo, conditioner, Aveda facial cleansing gel sample which I loved and will buy again when I've used up everything else, a deodorant, a Lush bath bomb, a tube of Philip Kingsley Elasticizer and a pot of Nivea Soft.

I'm on holiday next week so I'll take a load of my sample sizes to use while I'm there.
I.must.not.buy.anything.in.duty.free. There, I've said it now.

Bit of a thread derail but:

newaveragebear I have rosacea too, I've got it down to a minimum by which I mean just redness and no bumps but nothing completely gets rid of it and I think I really have tried everything.
That said, the Verso Intense Facial Masks makes my skin look fantastic but the effect only lasts for a day or two.
The best moisturisers I've found are Nivea Soft or Cetaphil and slathering them on liberally day and night. The key seems to be keeping skin very moisturised at all times.
Skin owl Lavender and Moqui Berry oils are good.
I had the sample of Rodial Vitamin C mask and that was really good.
Ultimately, I think I'll probably get laser treatment for it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/03/2018 13:32

Thanks purple
I have had it for years, but only realised that’s what it was (or could be) after commenting on a thread on here last week! I have a dr appt next week to see for sure. I’ve probably been doing totally the wrong thing, thinking it was spots/acne and probably treating it a bit harshly.

SukiTheDog · 25/03/2018 19:38

I’m finding recently, that I never get to the end of anything. I think this is because my skin’s changing seemingly on a weekly (or daily) basis. Taking HRT made me feel like I could hold back the changes but really, it all goes on and rapidly. I’ve quite a bit of stuff I’d like to just bin now,
Because it doesn’t suit my 55 year old self but then I think “maybe I’ll use it again, next year/summer/on holiday ....whatever.

I should get a plastic bag and pare everything down to just the “now/today” products. I have some Clarins skincare, never opened, which I put aside because “all of a sudden” it made me itch or smelt very chemical. Yet, I can’t throw it. I am truly, a hoarder.

CantChoose · 25/03/2018 21:32

I threw out an eyeko sporty waterproof mascara, I haven't really liked using it, it smudges on my eyelids and doesn't do much for my lashes. It doesn't flake but that's it's only redeeming feature.
Next one to use is the same brand but I'm hoping for better things!

SukiTheDog · 25/03/2018 21:51

@thenewaveragebear, maybe not citrusy but nice and fresh....Chanel Chance? Or, Chanel Allure Sport Cologne. It’s for men but I’ve used it for years. Very citrusy.

rosewater09 · 26/03/2018 06:53

More empties to report:

*eos evolution of smooth shaving cream in Vanilla bliss: I've never really used shaving cream before but really liked this. The scent is amazing. Maybe i'll buy again but doesn't soap just do the same thing as shaving cream?

*Pacifica rice bright skin luminizing smoothing paste: I am not a big fan of grainy exfoliators, normally I use acids or just my muslin cloth during hot cloth cleansing, to exfoliate. This one was really gentle though and didn't feel harsh on my skin.

*Kensington Apothecary rose oil cleanser: Hated this. I can't get on with oil cleansers. It made my eyes...oily so wasn't great as an eye makeup remover. I am throwing up a half used bottle.

*Laneige water sleeping mask: LOVED this. Once I get through all of my moisturising masks I will buy this again. On nights when I would wear this to sleep I would wake up with hydrated, plump and glowing skin. Also, a really great product to apply on aeroplanes, it kept my skin from drying out on long haul flights.

Suki: Up until this past week, I too held on to products because "I might use them in the future," but I had a massive purge last week of anything I hadn't used in the past year and it all felt so good. I still have a ton of stuff to use up but it feels nice to look in my bathroom and see clean space instead of shelves overflowing with product. You might be able to sell your unopened products that you don't want?

rosewater09 · 26/03/2018 06:54

throwing out not throwing up!

Treeballarae · 26/03/2018 15:03

I fell off the last thread at New Year, but just enjoyed a couple of hours catching up and writing down all the products that sound nice! I've been doing a "low spend 2018", so only buying something when I've run out and there is nothing in my stash that I can repurpose. I also allow myself £20 a month for frivolous spending. Well, as a result of all that, I have 35 products out since the start of the year ..........and 37 in 😄

I will wait til you've all finished your 12 for Easter list then join back in.

To the poster looking for cruelty free miscellar, I think Sukin is a cruelty free brand and they do a miscellar but I imagine the Superdrug one will be cheaper.

Daisy have you tried lanolin nipple balm for your lips, that's what I use when mine are bad. Then I use Weleda's lip balm stick for maintenance, it's the only lipbalm I've ever finished.

Strawberryfield12 · 28/03/2018 14:01

Oh, came to read the thread and saw hipster mentioning Murad offer from Hirons. Actually, there is some more on this. After seeing her video went to the website and message popped that for new clients they were giving a present worth 35 gbp. I think it was one of their cleansers. Combining the two could get a good deal. I am still sitting on my hands and hopefully will forget all about it by 01.04.18., when Hirons discount ends...

Just checked what was my Easter 15 list and what's done and what's left. I will be finishing this week Amy face scrub (thank goodness!) and then I will be left with one use worth of Oskia mask for Easter weekend. Yay!

Hispterwannabe · 29/03/2018 18:17

@strawberry - my murad order came and the products are gorgeous. I went for he retinol night cream and retinol serum.

Experiment627 · 29/03/2018 18:17

Fab progress!!

I have two empties (from my Easter list):

  • Molton Brown coco & sandalwood hand cream 40ml: did not like smell or texture
  • Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners hand therapy 25g: nice cream but not keen on smell

So ladies I am actually 13 weeks pregnant!!! For many of you who have been on this thread for a while will know I have been having treatment for years - and had two MCs along the way. This is the furthest I have ever got. I have already had some complications (SCH) but Kwicklet seems to be fine.
So I want to start looking forward and ask for your sage advice on stretch mark products - bio oil or something else?

Happy Easter everyone!!! 🐰
