ememem: Good thinking about the face creams going on your body. I have a couple SPF face creams that are too oily and thick for my face but throwing them out seems really wasteful. I will use them as a body SPF for my chest and shoulders this summer.

BigStripeyBastard · 19/03/2018 09:33

Happy New Thread, everybody!
I had a successful day yesterday, finished off an Oskia Rose Mask and an Elemis Procollagen Marine Cream travel size, both from my advent calendar..... both were very nice to use and smelled lovely.
Also finished off a Clarins night cream 30ml travel size and a Sanctuary body lotion which I have had for about four years!

I did fall off the wagon this week when I bought a pack containing a full size Clinique TTDO cleansing balm, a 200ml TTDO eye makeup remover and a travel size mascara. Not really an unnecessary purchase as I use both and, as it was on offer anyway, including my staff discount, I paid about 19 quid for them, so bargainous!!

Can I stop wildly trying to justify it now? 😁

Just finished Body Shop Vitamin E hand cream, Sobet Daily face wash which is very gentle, like The Body Shop Japanese rice grains, and smells beautiful, and the dregs of Juliette Has A Gun This Is Not A Perfume.

Empties:

A small bottle of garnier micellar water. Unlucky for me they send their products off to China to be tested on animals and I would rather not re buy. So, out of interest does anyone know of a cruelty free brand that do a dupe for micellar water. I have bought some make up wipes for now but I can't use them to remove eye make up as I have very sensitive eyes.

An nspa 'cooling leg and foot gel'. I used it all up on my arms and legs. It's minty and makes your skin tingle and feel really fresh. It was given to me as a gift during my last pregnancy but I never got round to using it. Also have a 'breast firming cream' Hmm. Not convinced they do anything other than make a pregnant lady feel pampered but I would recommend and would buy for someone if I knew they were pregnant as it's nice to think about the person carrying the child too.

A radox shower gel. The white one, I think it was camomile and something else. Smelt quite 'plain' but was very moisturising and didn't set off my eczema which was good.

I bought toothpaste, shower gel and some dry shampoo. But I had completely ran out of all threeSmile

@PurpleNailVarnish I make the lists on my phone (I have a special app) and I used to upload them here but there is a fault with the MN app which means I cannot upload photos anymore. So now I just report my usage.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I will take a look at that thread!

Welcome newbies!

Majesty: I picked up a bottle of Pacifica micellar water when I was in America last, might be worth seeing if we can get it in the UK (assuming that is where you are) because it is cruelty-free and made from natural ingredients.

Lisa Eldridge did a video on natural micellar waters a year or two ago, maybe check that out because she named a few that can be found in the UK and Europe and I would assume they are cruelty-free too.

Speaking of youtube (not that Eldridge falls into that category), I was watching beauty product reviews and makeup haul videos on youtube yesterday (guilty pleasure) and watching all of the makeup and skincare products that these women buy and/or are sent give me a bit of anxiety over the sheer waste of product...what do they do with all that product?

MajestyRoyal · 20/03/2018 14:35

A nail polish remover gone. I swear I bough that bottle in 1748, they last so long!

I have a tiny bit of body oil spray. Im going to leave it on the shelf and spray some each time I enter the hallway so it's used up by today Grin

DragonNoodleCake · 20/03/2018 19:36

@MajestyRoyal haha 1748 lol

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/03/2018 19:45

So, out of interest does anyone know of a cruelty free brand that do a dupe for micellar water I got some Superdrug 'B' micellar water (on a BOGOF) , I don't know what its meant to do but I don't wear make-up so I use this at night if I'm lazy , then my serum.

MajestyRoyal · 20/03/2018 20:49

Oh I didn't even think to check Superdrug! Thank you will pick some up tomorrow Smile

IPokeBadgers · 20/03/2018 21:04

I like the superdrug B Pure micellar.....recently finished the garnier one and won't repurchase as much prefer the superdrug version....don't find it as drying.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/03/2018 21:24

If you're after cruelty free then Superdrugs is the way to go.
I buy toothpaste (Charcoal or Sensitive) and hairdye, the Optimum Range skincare and make-up for DD .(Though she likes the high end brands like KatVonD )

PurpleNailVarnish · 20/03/2018 21:26

Thanks Experiment the list makes sense now.

All I've finished this week is a Colgate toothpaste, I'm using the spare now.
Does that really count?

Nothing to report on the moisturiser/shampoo & conditioner front. Those are my areas of greatest excess, it might take me some time to get through them all.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 21/03/2018 18:21

Hello lovelies. And yay to new faces.
Well done on the no-spend people. I agree Rose it’s pretty crazy to watch such consumerism. I find it a bit sickening especially with this thread highlighting how tricky it is to avoid over-selling.

Argh I’m being rubbish on my list products but great on others!: lush shower cream (lovely but nightmare to get out of bottle), perfume samples from M&S (dull), Malin face cream sample (3 years old!), NYX eyeshadow pencil (nah too creamy), 2 Korean spfs.
However Mother’s day brought me 3(!) Body Shop sets so heaps of shower gel and cream. Almond and honey smells amazing but I was looking forward to choosing my own shower gel after a year of using up gifts and hotel freebies! Argh.

PurpleNailVarnish · 21/03/2018 19:43

Ah-ha! There is something I've used up in the past few days; my bottle of Obsession perfume. It was a Christmas present from my Mum last year.
I didn't like it much but I wore it to work.

Now I'm onto the Aveda stuff that I do like.

I've got some perfume samples that I'm using up at work, sometimes the office can be less than fragrant Shock

CallingAllEngels · 21/03/2018 19:52

Jumping back on after month away from MN.

Have recently finished: an EL night repair eye serum 10ml, pai 10ml camomile and rosehip calming day cream.

Lost my mojo a bit. Need to get back on body lotion and face masks. Currently using up bars of soap instead of liquid/shower gel.

Bella912 · 21/03/2018 19:55

I’m a lost hope - was going to join this thread but now I have just read everything you guys have used and am now thinking oh have never tried those will have to get them!!!!

DaisyRenton18 · 21/03/2018 21:35

Haha Bella, I'm the same. I had to take a break from this board for a while, as I kept "just picking up X to try..."

Another conditioner finished, and I'm nearly at the end of a Morrocan oil. Have started using a face cream without SPF as a hand cream too, so that will be used up soon.

Still searching for a lip balm that works - I might end up giving in and buying Aldi's version of 8 Hour cream as that used to work for me, but is currently out of my price range. I don't want to buy more stuff, but my lips are so painful (on the plus side, I'm using up a lot of lipstick to cover up the dark cracks!).

ememem84 · 22/03/2018 07:32

daisy are you drinking enough water? I find when I don’t my lips get super dry and crackly.

No empties to report here. Am still ploughing through my body moisturisers. Have probably a weeks worth of jo Malone grapefruit left. Then am moving onto a couple of smaller ones. Just to get some empties.

Experiment627 · 23/03/2018 07:31

@PurpleNailVarnish everything counts!!! We make our own rules!!!

@Bella912 it happens to the best of us! But I like the fact that the ladies on here review stuff that way I can buy more wisely 🧐

Ok so here is my list of what is going in bin:

  • Model Co Instant Brows: this is an empty. Really liked this - easy to apply, comes with a spooly. Helped to keep my eyebrows neat despite me not deforesting them for months
  • Givenchy lipstick in 710: seriously this is like 12 years old 😬 have been using everyday for MONTHS!!! Colour not quite right for me. But this is an empty and from one of my lists
  • Rimmel 050 Tiramisu lip liner: my lips have been looking pants since I started on this. Am chucking. Life too short. Perhaps it has gone off... probably about 5 years old...

It was so lovely "shopping my stash" and I feel like I am getting somewhere!

This week I have finished up:

*Physicians Formula Organic Wear Mascara: I really liked this and will buy again if I can find this brand again. It made my eyelashes look thick and long and the tube lasted around four months. Also, like that it is organic.

  • L'Occitane rose hand cream: liked to use on my feet more than my hands. I have tons of hand creams to use up so won't be buying any new ones for awhile.

Pixi Glow Tonic: I know this has a huge cult following but I couldn't figure out what it was meant to do. I did not notice any changes to my face. I doubt I will buy again...unless I am missing something with this?

Acure Calming Body Lotion: I rate this really highly. This is a great brand (I've tried their almond body wash before and it is amazing). I wouldn't mind trying more of their products when I am in America next (don't think this is sold in the UK?). Really like that their products are natural.

Bar soap brought back from a hotel: why oh why do I bring home hotel toiletries?! New goal is that I will only bring them home if they are really nice because I have a ton of hotel bar soap to get through.

Pretty good list of empties for this...however, I have to confess that as I write this I have a Mac pro longwear paint pot in groundwork and a Nars eyeshadow in Bengali in an online shopping bag that I am about to press purchase on.

In my defence, I realised that I have kept two large eyeshadow palettes because they each have one colour that I like in them (nude and brown). Therefore, if I buy these colours it should mean that I can bin the palettes. Also, it makes sense for travel and means I will have to pack less eye makeup if I fall in love with these individual colours and therefore will become a minimalist in my eye makeup and my packing. So, it really is a must buy...right???

P.S has anyone tried the Mac and Nars colours before?

ememem84 · 24/03/2018 09:15

Jo Malone grapefruit body moisturiser finished. I love this. The smell lasts. It’s super moisturisey. Won’t rebut as it’s £££ but will put it on the birthday wish list!

Next up - a travel size accessorise lotus blossom body lotion. Followed by travel size soap and glory righteous butter. Followed by body shop raspberry body butter.

IPokeBadgers · 24/03/2018 16:26

Finished a bar of soap in the shower.....have many more in stash and have enjoyed breaking out a new big chunky bar of savon de marseilles....one of life's little pleasures.

Also binned a maybelline lash sensational mascara that has been open for probably over a year 😳 Trying to convince myself to chuck a Lancome and an estee lauder one which have also been open for quite a while.....

CantChoose · 24/03/2018 17:57

Hello!
I've been a bit lax with my reporting!
I've finished a roger & gallet body moisturising sorbet - I liked this and it felt moisturising even thought it's really light.
A hotel freebie clarins body lotion - didn't find this very effective even though I usually like Clarins.
An Aveda lavender de stress body lotion sample - I bit strange to use in the morning but would be nice after an evening bath.
I've also finished a travel size face moisturiser - a vinosource one. It was quite nice.
I've also used the last of my oatmeal and honey Tigi conditioner, a bit sad about this but I will repurchase once I've used the others I have in stock.
