Wasn't me either. Smile

auberginesrus · 17/03/2018 18:58

Both kids sleeping out so am in PP Envy (right up my street green scent) and heading to theatre with dh as we have scored last minute bargain tickets to Importance of Being Earnest. Closing my eyes to the snow and pretending its spring!

auberginesrus · 17/03/2018 19:01

PS my social life isnt usually so exciting, on Saturday nights you can usually find me on the sofa in mismatched PJs

IFancyASliceOfCake · 17/03/2018 19:09

I'm in 4160T's Centrepiece, in my PJs, watching The Big Bang Theory and eating pizza Grin

Judydreamsofhorses · 17/03/2018 21:03

SOTD is Gypsy Water. We have bloody snow again too. Been to Pizza Express for tea, now in pjs watching The Voice while DP faffs about on the computer next door.

Judydreamsofhorses · 17/03/2018 21:04

(Next door = spare room, not in the actual neighbour’s.)

MrsGruber · 17/03/2018 21:33

Sounded a good arrangement Judy Grin.

I have a cooking marathon tonight for an event tomorrow that may well be snowed off. Need a 4x4 to get along our road now. Shock

SotE is OML Indigo - Into the Night. Suitably deep, dark and densely woody in a rich, brooding sort of way and no troublesome shrieky notes. (Atlas cedar you're in the clear!). There's cognac and rum listed, but this just serves to sweeten very slightly rather than add any higher pitched boozy notes. Also contains labdanum, black tea, osmanthus, blackcurrant bud and jasmine.

positivepineapple · 17/03/2018 22:30

SOTE was Rome 1963, I appreciate it.

It definitely comes into itself in the dry down. I get tobacco and ylang ylang oil with a note of bitter chocolate, but it's really not for me. If anyone wants this sample please let me know.

So, now I am in Anima Dulcis Arquiste.
The cumin and cloves are prominent in this, The top notes are overpowering Chilli con carne.
The dry down is just sublime, the cumin is very much present but the vanilla and cocoa take the top edge off, this is a fabulous gourmand

This is over the top decadent and I love it.

Puppylucky · 17/03/2018 23:17

hello all!
SOTD for me was YSL Elle - I love this. Its a rosey musk in the vein of Midnight Poison and is about the only "real" perfume I now wear as I spend most of my time in PP dupes. Hope the snow isnt too bad this time (I'm in Oz)

UnnecessaryFennel · 18/03/2018 07:47

SOTD is ginger, lemon, honey and Vicks Hmm

IFancyASliceOfCake · 18/03/2018 10:27

Puppy, my mum wore YSL Elle at one stage. Its gorgeous (I love Midnight Poison too, and miss it so much Sad). I haven't sniffed Elle in years - must do that!

Fennel - hope you're feeling better soon. Eau de Vicks sounds quite nice, actually Grin.

SOTD is the Big Sniff, Valeur Absolue Rouge Passion.

Had it on less than hour and its fading to nothing and boring me to tears, so I'll be scrubbing in a bit for something with a bit more oomph. It is supposed to be a yellow floral, but I don't get that at all, so am now thinking about the yellow florals in my collection and craving Chloe Narcisse or maybe Amarige....or Poeme! Decisions, decisions.

Dowser · 18/03/2018 11:42

Just peaking round the door and having a quick sniff 👍

mrsreynolds · 18/03/2018 12:37

Going round to non scent wearing pils..
I shall dazzle them in vintage obsession 😁

auberginesrus · 18/03/2018 12:54

Have to sadly report there is no PW Girl in my local Poundland either - was it all a vicious rumour?

SOTD is L'air de Rien (thanks Fennel and hope you feel better soon). Unfortunately I'm getting an overwhelming germolene note Hmm

positivepineapple · 18/03/2018 12:54

SOTD is PP Pom Noir, thanks to Floofys encouragement.

This is lovely, a bit sweeter & richer than the original, almost like molasses.

IFancyASliceOfCake · 18/03/2018 13:27

So I’ve just tried to declutter my perfume shelves and feeling slightly more organised, although there is still chaos and I do need to get a —cheap— separate storage unit for them, as I’m running out of space for my clothes Shock

SOTD has ended up being Amber Mambo, kindly gifted to me by a MN perfumista. Love it! Has totally lifted my mood ❤️

UnnecessaryFennel · 18/03/2018 13:41

Perfume shelves look fab fancy!

aubergines I smell many slightly odd things in L'air de rien but I'm not sure I've ever smelled Germolene - it's not ideal is it? Grin

SOTD - well I did put on the Rouge Passion but I've barely had a chance to sniff it, what with feeling like poo, wrangling my toddler nephews from 6am, acting as ds's taxi service...

...and making the mistake of looking at my emails on a Sunday and finding an email at 7am that has uncovered a whole world of work-related awfulness that has taken up most of my morning.

So, unusually for me, I have no opinion on this week's Sniff Hmm

auberginesrus · 18/03/2018 15:43

Now its dried down its lovely - but I'm not sure I can cope with the antiseptic smell beforehand!

UnnecessaryFennel · 18/03/2018 17:02

I know there are some fans of The Perfumed Court on here (and perhaps lurking) so in the spirit of weekend enabling I'll just mention that they have 40% off all weekend... code OUTWITHTHEOLD.

Might make the shipping costs worthwhile Wink

PerfumeIsAMessage · 18/03/2018 17:09

Hello all (special wave to Dowser for coming on over to us, pull up a chair and have a sniff!)

Been busy-awol again. Sotd Eau d'Hadrien. God I love it. It is so much more than a summery citrus. It is the smell of summer on your skin. Think I will have a FB of this at some point. I might as well, as I always have a sample. Testing AG Nuit Etoilee on a strip. Odd. Very toothpasty which I wasn't expecting. Have left strip in other room so need to go and see what it's become.

MrsG- it is me with the Max Factor cats yes!

Aubergines/MrsG- I have Miss Diors from about the mid fifties on, and although the older ones are richer and fuller, the new "originale" holds its own very well. To my inexpert nose, the difference is maybe just more like the difference between an Edp and an Edt.

I collected my vintage Je Reviens on Friday. Comparing it with the new el cheapo JR is like comparing broccoli to diamonds. The new is thin, harsh and shrill. The old smells like my Gran's bedroom. Smile

Motoko · 18/03/2018 18:57

Has anyone started the new thread yet?

Dowser · 18/03/2018 19:51

Thank you.
I think when we get to page 40 it’s time to start another thread, is that correct.

I’m in awe cake of your collection. Mine have a half drawer at the moment

Don’t know what to make of these supermarket perfumes ...the hortensia h cyprum smells really exotic , I believe it has oakmoss but soon disappears without a trace.

I once went to the perfume factory in Grasse in the hills above st tropez
Was a fantastic experience and bought a perfume that was oil based
Would love to go back.

Dowser · 18/03/2018 19:57

If you get to 1000 posts do you need to start a new thread?

Dowser · 18/03/2018 19:57

One more to go then
