It was a typo but.....😁

SoFancy · 24/02/2018 18:40

teta - it’s me, fragrabtoozy. Name changed a few days ago. Glad you got your package Grin.

Enid - there are a few JMs that get lots of love on this thread. Personally, I’m yet to find one I would wear, so it’s a No Malone from me Grin. I’m far from a perfume snob, I just havent found one I like. I remain open minded, though!

I’m home alone tonight and drowned in MITPG. I honestly just want to smile and sigh when I breathe in this one. Ahhhhh...

SoFancy · 24/02/2018 18:41

fragrantfloozy aka trigger finger

BluebellGal · 24/02/2018 18:41

No Malone was a typo but it stuck! Most of the Jo Malones are colognes meaning they contain very little perfume oil, so are very cheap to make and copy I guess. It is much more difficult to replicate a fragrance cheaply which contains a high concentration of perfume oil, particularly expensive ingredients such as ambergris, orris root, oud. It is possible however to create these more expensive perfumes with cheaper synthetic notes, but perhaps more difficult to create them well.

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 24/02/2018 18:52

I bought DP the Jo Malone Earl Grey and Cucumber cologne for his bday.

Not sure if he likes it. It's sweeter than I remember.
It does last well.

I will probably start wearing it myself if he doesn't take to it.

Any thoughts on it here? Sorry if it's already been discussed, I've only just joined.

I do often douse myself in Rose Oud before bed (solo).

explodingkittens · 24/02/2018 18:55

I think Wood Sage and Seasalt is one that gets a lot of love here. Of the few I've sniffed I do think they're expensive for what they are. Can't knock the marketing nous behind the brand, though.

My finger is hovering over a very, very reasonably priced Fragonard Santal Cardamome on ebay. I fell in love with this about a year ago at the start of my perfume 'journey' and I think it's about time I actually bought a bottle.

I've bid on a vintage EL spellbound too....

explodingkittens · 24/02/2018 19:05

There's a lot of vintage Diorissimo that looks tempting, but I simply cannot buy anything more now. I've got the Papillon set and now the Fragonard, ooops coming and loads of samples that I should just properly get to know.

I'm in a really bad habit of just bouncing from one shiny new thing to another without really spending the necessary time with the stuff I've already got.

Hi, JeNeSuisPas - I don't know that one but it does sound rather nice - like a delicious gin!

auberginesrus · 24/02/2018 19:09

I'm watching a bottle of Chanel 19 and some Diorrisimo but Must Not Buy.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 24/02/2018 19:28

G'waaaaaan. I've just bought some vintage Envol. Don't even know what it smells like Grin

I wrote a big long post earlier but my stupid phone ate it. It was about SM. I can't remember anything about it at Somerset House other than a vague "oh it's THAT perfume". I was more intrigued (as was the guy who was at the same stage with all the sniffs as me and dd) in that neither of us could smell diddley with Escentric Molecules.

I took some pics of my stash earlier, but phone won't bluetooth them to here. Humph.

Am in a grotty mood. Saturday (and this is the first one since Christmas when we don't have Something On) I usually manage a nap but today dp's bloody phone kept pinging so I got up.

Am now in vintage Anais Anais and am going to watch Torchwood with dd. Might look Envol up first.

JM- I like a lot of them as smells. I object to the all style and no substance marketing tactics. My friend "only" has Jo Malone and Jo Loves stuff in the house because it's "posh".

PerfumeIsAMessage · 24/02/2018 19:30

Don't know why I said vintage Envol. It isn't, of course. That's the other 49 things I'm bidding on. Grin

CountFosco · 24/02/2018 19:56

Am going to watch Torchwood with dd

I loved Torchwood except the last series especially the series with PC. DD1 (10) enjoyed some of the last series of DW but was scared by the monks. She's very excited about the new doctor though and the kids are all currently watching The Sarah Jane adventures now it's on iplayer so I'm hoping in a few years they'll all be DW addicts.

MrsGruber · 24/02/2018 19:58

PiaM - you and the Diva are v bad influences. I've been off vintage since chest problems last year, but just a little sniff of Diva, plus your search filters, and now I have a similar sized watch list to you Shock.

Be careful though - 80 pages in one night sounds like a recipe for a repetitive strain injury...

MrsGruber · 24/02/2018 20:03

Talking of Jo Malone, does anyone else have a recurring anxiety dream about 4160s getting bought up by L'Oreal and all the interesting stuff vanishing ? Grin

mrsreynolds · 24/02/2018 20:07

No mrsg BUT I WILL NOW!!
😮😣🤣

EnidButton · 24/02/2018 20:24

Grin Thanks for the Jo/No Malone explanation. I've yet to find one I'd actually wear. I find the combinations a bit...odd and some of them work well as a candle to scent the home but you can buy them to wear too. 🤔 I want to like them. I like some of the candles, just don't want to smell like them.

MrsGruber · 24/02/2018 21:01

Interesting how she made the move out of candles. There is a definite Jo Malone tribe and a 4160s tribe, are there any other perfume tribes?

positivepineapple · 24/02/2018 22:14

Talking of Jo No Malone. SOTE (post shower) is Mimosa & Cardamom - this was a gift, I don't think I would ever have thought to have tried this cardamom = curry , however, this is lovely.
Sunny, fresh, fragrant, powdery sweet flowers - like fresh washing in the sun or 6am on a sunny summer morning, when you can smell it's going to be a hot day.
I can't say that I can detect the cardamom. It's not particularly complex, but it is an easy, light, cheerful scent which is making me lust for some sunshine.

MrsGruber · 24/02/2018 22:32

Put too much cardamom in the rice pudding tonight, Smelt nice though...

positivepineapple · 24/02/2018 23:40

Gruber that sounds divine! I don't like rice pudding but love the smell.

Motoko · 24/02/2018 23:42

After the talk of Insolence, when I was in Boots today I gave it a try. It's very nice. On me, it smells like parma violets and incense, not a combination I'd have thought would be nice, but it does go well.

I also had a try of a new Marc Jacobs one, forget what it's called, but the lady said it was the new summer version of another one. She recommended it to me because I mentioned that I'd heard Insolence smelt like parma violets, and she said the MJ one had violet in it too.
It's quite nice, I can smell the violet, but there's also something really sweet over the top. At first I wondered if it was chocolate or vanilla, but now it's more of a fruity sweetness.

I might get a sample of the MJ one (if I can remember which one it was), but I definitely want to get a sample of Insolence, and maybe even a full bottle.

mrsreynolds · 25/02/2018 07:51

It's prob MJ lola motoko black bottle with purple flower?

My sister has all the MJ fragrances. Another one I don't "get"
Too floral. Too many flankers!

Tribe? Hmm. I suppose I could be in the estee lauder tribe 😁

Sotd...no idea yet. Off to pils later for dinner and neither they nor my sil wear perfume freaks so any ideas?
What shall I wow them with??
(They do often say I smell nice 😁)

positivepineapple · 25/02/2018 08:58

Morning all, placed my 4160 order last night - I went with
Orianne
Mother nature's naughty daughters
Another kiss by the fireside
Sexiest scent
Doe in the snow
Eau my soul
Goodbye Piccadilly
Rome 1963
I think I have a good mix - I justified this spend by finding a dress that I need to return and had completely forgotten about!

explodingkittens · 25/02/2018 09:20

I think there's probably a Mugler tribe as well.

pineapple, lovely selection - will be interested to hear what you make of EMS and Another Kiss. I think they are both utterly fabulous and Eau My Soul is probably top of my FB 'want' list.

mrsr - sexiest scent, surely?
