Back from lunch...no PW Girl in my Poundland. But I did pick up a pack of 12 mini No Malone copies in Superdrug for £12. They’re in 8ml glass bottles. 4 of them smell good to me (mandarin lime basil, bergamot and cucumber, berry cassis Fig, citrus blossom). Some of the others smell like air fresheners and some are sickly sweet (vanilla bean, chocolate). A couple more are ok (pink grapefruit, lime and ginger). Well worth it imo.

Back to work now!

LibertyBlue · 16/03/2018 14:46

I know mrsGruber tragic innit?! Please post if you spot them in your Poundland. Maybe we organise a mass posting? I will send samples in return Grin.

Here’s the Bloom Superdrug no Malone dupe link:

Already have a big bottle of Girl MrsG, I think the problem is the name. A unisex fragrance called GIRL! Expectation is a pink minger type. It is grown up wood, violet, iris, playdoh with a hint of wet concrete and a large bunch of vetiver.

SotD is Eclat d’Arpège, it is Spring. Honest.

BigPuddleOfFloofyCatOnTheFloor · 16/03/2018 16:29

Judy that thread Shock I am a very old school gen crit feminist but I do feel sympathy for your student. It reminds me of my DCs who had just swallowed the whole "intersectional...inclusive..." bollocks without questioning, and it was only properly discussing all the implications to gender/sex/self ID that "woke" them (as they would say!) I'm sure lecturing them and being aggressive and dismissive would not have worked and in fact had the opposite effect. I hope your student isn't too put off and sees it as a opportunity to investigate these issues further. I didn't want to bump the thread but I did the survey Smile

Anyhoo - Perfume! Pest how odd are those ELLE selections?! I must admit my actual real FB worthy one on there was the D & G The One Blush but I voted for 4160s as I think they deserve it despite not liking Doe

Cheap tester strips incorporated into clothing sounds genius! Perfumistas crowd funding and place on Dragons' Den, perhaps? Grin

Sock I hope your DS eventually gets lots of good out of this currently painful episode and has a brilliant time, whatever he does. Was it your DS that wore the vintage suit to his school do, or another poster's DC? Sorry, my memory is terrible.

Liberty I detested Ealing Green the first few times, a real WTF perfume - but I actually think it's my very favourite 4160s now. It's just so different, for me.

SOTD is Sisley Eau de Soir. I am in love. How have I never tried this before (I got a free sample). FB worthy well, from the Perfume Parlour to start with. Reminds me of Paloma Picasso and I want to smell it on DH but he is having none of it. Fun sucker!

I hope no one has any more snow this weekend! I am trying very very hard not to do any more online shopping as currently on bed rest bravely ignores the very tempting Penhaligons wonderfulness but it's very hard! Have already spent my Perfume budget on the most amazing vintage nightdress so at least I look very flammable and a little like Joan Collins stylish in bed Grin

MrsGruber · 16/03/2018 16:29

Miss Dior hs arrived Grin.

Wasn't expecting this...green, moss, leather, soap, labdanum. Wonderful.

MrsGruber · 16/03/2018 17:27

That nightie sounds amazing Floof - what perfume goes with it best?

pestilentialboundary · 16/03/2018 18:07

I love this thread. My fellow perfumistas number erudite old skool feminists whose taste in vintage nightwear runs to 50s starlet. Glitterball. Bravo! I'm with you apart from the manmade fibres

pestilentialboundary · 16/03/2018 18:27

Says she of the peach faux fur Grin

MrsGruber · 16/03/2018 18:29

Just not next to the skin Blush

MrsGruber · 16/03/2018 18:32

It's the static...bad childhood experience with bry-nylon sheets.

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/03/2018 18:56

4160's half-price SOTW is Dirty Honey. Never sniffed it, but sounds tempting...

Back from hospital, dp is milking it Wink. Pyjamas and a chinese takeaway, I think.

Floofy you sound like a goddess Grin

Judydreamsofhorses · 16/03/2018 19:53

Thanks to everyone for doing Roisin’s survey - and love to those who left kind comments. I don’t teach market research stuff, and the students are told to include that categorisation question as standard. When I checked the survey I didn’t even look at that one. But it’s given me food for thought.

SOTD is Narciso Rodriguez For Her. So pleased it’s Friday. Two weeks to the Easter holidays...

Judydreamsofhorses · 16/03/2018 19:55

God, my nightwear. I either wear DP’s old t-shirts, or nothing. I do have a lovely collection of “lounge wear” for knocking about at home though.

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/03/2018 20:04

I long to be the kind of woman who has a selection of proper nightwear rather than manky old t-shirts and, ummm, socks (in my defence I do get very very cold feet and I can't sleep with cold feet). But it's never going to happen.

As for my loungewear, do yoga pants, thick socks and a genuinely vile Matalan grey fleece count?

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 16/03/2018 20:10

Evening and happy Friday ladies!

I also have big bottle of Girl - anyone who wants a decant just shout!

Joan Collins would not approve of my nightwear. Priority is staying warm in the small hours when DS2 wakes up and needs settling.

Nice day here - afternoon off so rare just-the-two-of-us lunch with DH and then off to DS1s achievement assembly. Very proud of the little popper!

SotD was my last of the Bloom Violet Samples - Brocard Queen of Spades. A strong finish to the set. I'd recommend the pack - some very different takes in violet in there!

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 16/03/2018 20:11

Uh, poppet not popper.

OCSockOrphanage · 16/03/2018 20:18

Nightwear.... My choice is between DH's hospital PJs or left over bits of casual wear. Prefer to sleep in the buff, unless it's seriously cold. I have a shift I bought in the far east that I don't mind in between the extremes.

Yes, Floofy, he's the one who wore a vintage tux (that I bought for stage for my exH and kept). While he is absolutely not related to my ex, they are not dissimilar in any regard. It is most peculiar, they are alike, but have no relationship.

MrsGruber · 16/03/2018 20:28

Cold here - so will be in my Miffy pjs, but in my head I will be channelling Anne Bancroft in The Graduate. Grin

Persolaise reckoned she'd be in Femme but I'm not so sure. Jolie Madame, Miss Balmain or Cabochard? (Anne Bancroft, not Miffy, obvs).

positivepineapple · 16/03/2018 22:28

SOTE is Goodbye Piccadilly.
I'm not sure on this one, the violet is bold and the vanilla is tooth achingly sweet.

IFancyASliceOfCake · 16/03/2018 22:28

I’ve missed so much (work been crazy) and haven’t got the eyesight (need new specs) to read everything and respond. But I love this thread!!

For so long I’ve been eyeing up Girl. Explain it? Fragrantica doesn’t help me understand if I would like it or not.

Whoever mentioned Ealing Green.. absolutely hate it in first sniff. Floral/oriental/gourmand lover here ...just wrote it off instantly as a hideous ‘masculine’ herbal/aromatic. But sniffed again last summer in hot Spanish sun and ending up adoring it.

DH (Ealing boy!) thinks it’s grim...but I totally fell for the grassy note and (although not listed) I got lots of sage and it was luscious. Love now!

Just got cab home from work outing after very boring SOTD (Stella...old signature from 15 years ago...obviously having a CBA day!). Cab smelled beautiful and was trying to put my finger on the smell. Asked driver and he said Aromatics Elixir. Sooooo good. Wow for a man (struggle with this on myself).

mrsreynolds · 17/03/2018 07:37

Hello all
Busy week here too
I was in PP opium all week and sexiest scent at night
So i feel the need for something a bit different today....hmmmm

mrsreynolds · 17/03/2018 09:07

...aaaannnddddd...I've just bought some obsession
😀
I blame you floofy 😉
Ds1 is out all day
Ds2 has told me he is having a pj day
So I'm at a loose end...never a good thing 😉

MrsGruber · 17/03/2018 09:22

I like Dirty Honey a lot. It's much warmer, cosier and muskier than Seville a L'Aube, but shares the beeswax and (a bit less) white florals. It's not very dirty, but it does have interesting aromatic and resinous facets. It's listed as an oriental vanilla on Fragrantica, but it's not sickly sweet. It's a comforting scent, that needs body heat to bloom, and then sits fairly close.

If you like the idea of beeswax and a hint of labdanum with your vanilla it's definitely worth trying. It's unusual without being too challenging and makes complete sense!

auberginesrus · 17/03/2018 09:39

Mrs G is your Miss Dior vintage? When I was a teenager (30 or so years ago Blush), my Mum and I would often have a spray of Miss Dior when out shopping. I wonder how it compares to the "new" originale? I have just got a PP version - very nice indeed.

Was out at a gig with DS1 last night and went for Etui Noir - love it and will be putting on my FB wishlist. Today I have PP Miss Dior on one wrist and PP Chanel no 19 on the other. Both lovely.
