SOTD 4160 creamy vanilla crumble

BigPuddleOfFloofyCatOnTheFloor · 14/03/2018 08:13

Oh count I'm so sorry. Thanks to you and your family.

This truly is being a hard year so far, isn't it? In an attempt to bring smiles, I could share a sweet text from my DS to cheer up educators as well as parents - he has also been non mainstream educated and we were told he would be non verbal (a professional actually said the words "he will never be able to tell you he loves you" - wtf?) Anyway he is doing amazingly well, not always understandable to people other than us Grinbut definitely verbal! I am a total grammar pedant with my other DC who don't seem to use prepositions or adverbs Blush but he gets more of a pass, understandably. Anyway. I got a text from him on Mother's Day which was sweet enough, and made sense to me, but he then followed up with another text (jokily!) apologising for his grammar Grin It was possibly the sweetest and proudest moment of my parenting career!

He could never have come so far without so many fabulous teachers/ TAs/SSAs etc though, I know some parents/students are ungrateful shitheads unappreciative but some absolutely love you! I could never teach and totally respect those of you who could.

So sorry for that total pink minger of an anecdote, I shall go and search out a suitably scary and hardcore perfume to counteract it (Extreme Vengeance falls into that category for me!) I hope everyone has a good a day as they can Smile

MrsGruber · 14/03/2018 08:38

That's a lovely story Floof.

Respect to teachers everywhere.

Felt the stirrings of Spring first thing so giving my last creation from a 4160s workshop it's first 2018 outing. It's better for a bit longer mulching down in my sock drawer. I really like the start and heart. Need to see what the base is like now - would've liked longer to play with the formula... Weekend lock-in perhaps?

I may need to think about tactics for the short workshop format...

mrsreynolds · 14/03/2018 08:59

I'm not enjoying work atm tbh
They asked me to cover for a sick colleague today and I said no
To be fair I'm running errands and shopping for a sick friend but....i could have gone in
It'll get worse by July too...
😣😣
Sotd PP opium

OCSockOrphanage · 14/03/2018 09:15

DS has promised that he will study seriously and attentively until his A levels are over... I am sure we shall suffer alongside him in the meantime, but he's decided that he will ask if he's still included in the invitation to join his mates inter-railing holiday after it's all done. He had half decided on a solo plan (the other side of the world, for 23 months) so we are relieved.

Lemming-like, reading the overnight traffic and struck by MrsGruber's enthusiasm, I have a squizz of Civet on my wrist, and am musing on more PP dupes.

UnnecessaryFennel · 14/03/2018 09:23

Lovely story floofy Smile

Well, today is a slight improvement - 'breakfast' meeting with colleagues where lots of laughs were to be had, some great news via email once I got back to my desk, and a new coffee machine in my office Grin. Phew!

Am in Etui Noir, delicious and grown-up.

I have a slightly-used Amouage sample set from ebay on its way too Blush. I'm intrigued by these incredibly expensive perfumes but would never buy at those prices. Sample set seemed decent value though madly justifying the unjustifiable

auberginesrus · 14/03/2018 11:12

Morning everyone, its lovely and spring like here and I am WAH so no massive commute today Smile, however completely forgot to put on SOTD so have just had a spritz of my Jasmin et Cigarette sample. Love the cigarette smoke opening, very evocative (I haven't smoked for about 17 years) and interested to see how it settles down.

Does anyone know what the PP Chanel no 19 is called? I found it once, and now can't Sad

auberginesrus · 14/03/2018 11:33

Aha, found the list on the previous thread Smile

Now must get some work done!

LibertyBlue · 14/03/2018 12:15

Glad you like the cigarette and Jasmine aubergine I couldn’t get on with the Jasmine - too indolic for me Sad

SOTD (because I’m working from home) is 4160 Silk Lace and Chocolate

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 14/03/2018 15:56

Hi I’m loving the big sniff and gradually getting sucked into perfume world. And it’s wonderful!
I have a few unexpected hours in London tomorrow and you ladies have convinced me to search out Bloom. I’m so excited. Zoologist here I come! Thanks so much for inspiring perfum chat!

IFancyASliceOfCake · 14/03/2018 18:06

Evening all.

SOTD was one of my pink mingers, Tresor Midnight Rose. I find it difficult to part with perfumes so have to consistently dislike one for a year or so before I’ll pass on. This one I hated at first spray, and I’m afraid today has confirmed I’ll never like it. Synthetic raspberry and rose with huge, sickly sillage for about an hour and then it disappears. Awful. It’s going on eBay this weekend!

I’m in Chloe Narcisse now I’m home from a long day of training. Bliss. I love this so much.

mrsreynolds · 14/03/2018 18:09

Tme for sote which will be sexiest scent

UnnecessaryFennel · 14/03/2018 18:32

Hi pinkiepie - enjoy your trip to Bloom and don't forget to come back and tell us all about it.

Home to a weeny little bottle of First by Van Cleef & Arpels. I have long been ridiculously snobby about this brand, no idea why, and I feel suitably chastised by this scent. Classic, sparkly aldehydes and soapy, powdery drydown. Like a Chanel no 5 that I actually like. I'm currently reading The Perfect Scent and this is a JC Ellena creation, makes me want to explore more of his stuff.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 14/03/2018 18:53

Ah Floof that's lovely!

Pink Have fun!! Mention us - I was asked how I heard about Bloom and when I mentioned mn she said a few people had said that recently Grin

SotD is Floral Street Black Lotus. Described as an English Rose in a black leather jacket and smells exactly like that. On paper not my thing and I shouldn't like it. But I actually really really do. Neither the leather nor the rose is too strong and they work really well together. I would guess there are other scents with this combination doing it well but with my limited knowledge I'd consider putting either a FB or the 10ml version on my wish list. My favourite so far and only Ylang Ylang Espresso left to try.

UnnecessaryFennel · 14/03/2018 20:07

I've just bought 10mls of Alaia Paris from ebay. Totally blind buy, have no idea what it smells like but bois de jasmin likes it and the bottle is great.

Blush
MrsGruber · 14/03/2018 20:10

What do you make of Civet OC? We're often of a similar mind about things - wondering if that's true on this occasion?

Unnecessary - I need to try First. BH describes it as "the perfume equivalent of those floral arrangements one sees in the lobbies of smart hotels". I know what you mean about how some things don't appeal on but turn out to be great. (Looking at you Diva).

Aubergines - with you on Jasmin et Cigarettes (thank you Blue), but this means you need to try The Great Randello for the cigar smoke opening Smile.

Judydreamsofhorses · 14/03/2018 20:11

SOTD was Chanel 19, for root canal. Back in a month for final X-rays, and hopefully I will be discharged back to my own dentist for the crowns. Anyway, I disgraced myself thoroughly - midway through I was hit with cramps and realised I had started my period. I had to stop the treatment and go to the loo. I was scared I would bleed over the chair, and it was a two hour session, but god, for shame.

That 4160 gin collaboration looks fab. Expenny though.

In nice stories, a student bought me a Greggs pasty this morning. He was amazed I had never had one (!) and came back at the break with a sausage, bean and cheese melt thing for me.

auberginesrus · 14/03/2018 20:11

Evening all.

Longevity of Jasmin et Cigarette is very good, sprayed at 11.30 am and still smell faintly of ashtray! Actually really liked it but not sure I would want a FB.

auberginesrus · 14/03/2018 20:14

And will put The Great Randello on my to try list Mrs G

MrsGruber · 14/03/2018 20:14

JSW - hope you're OK and received the Diva?

UnnecessaryFennel · 14/03/2018 20:36

judy, are you ever going to be able to wear no 19 again without thinking of the dentist's chair? Hope that's the end of all the tooth woes for you!

OCSockOrphanage · 14/03/2018 21:01

To be honest MrsG, Civet is a long way back today. I loved its complexity briefly, then showered. However, I came home to find DS's car back a full three hours early (he said he'd be working at school until 7.00 for a physics test). Bad sign. His friends (group of 6, inter-railing) said he couldn't come; partly for logistical reasons, but because some felt he wouldn't fit into the 'group dynamic'. He is so gutted; eviscerated deep into his psyche, and I/we feel so helpless to soothe his pain. He is almost 19.

UnnecessaryFennel · 14/03/2018 21:11

Oh sock. Your poor ds. What an awful thing for him to hear from 'friends'; your hearts must be breaking for him. People can be cruel.
