Welcome to the long running perfume thread. Discuss Scent of the Day, fave dupes and scents of ALL price brackets. You don’t have to spend a fortune and we will encourage you to get a sample first. That said, hiding your credit card in the freezer is recommended.

Old thread

We also have managed to get a 20% discount on a Perfume Society box and are discussing it on The Big Sniff.

Sounds beautiful mrsg

BluebellGal · 01/02/2018 19:50

mrsgruber thanks for confirming there is an industrial chemical smell at beginning of Centrepiece and I’m not imagining it!

Judy Have you received your Velvet box from TPS yet? I’m thinking they have a problem with their order system, people have been getting boxes they haven’t ordered and unlucky people haven’t been getting the ones they have. They must have a problem. Perhaps grown too fast?

teta · 01/02/2018 20:06

I’m beginning to wish I had ordered from the Perfume Society as well. If only to receive the multiple boxes of samples!
Sotd is Hiram Green Dilettante, This is a natural with monster longevity and rather stunning. Green indolic Strong Orange Blossom that smells better and more realistic than Serge Lutens Fleur d oranger.
JanetStWalker I would be happy to swop/sell decants or the bottle of Bois de Iles. I bought the Chanel
In the summer in Melbourne from an unusually lovely Chanel assistant. After a tour of truly awfull Asian Perfume Emporiums where the one Chanel salesperson was so rude I actually walked out mid-monologue ( from her talking utter tripe ). I felt obliged to buy a bottle. My kids say it doesn’t smell like me and I’ve only sampled it twice.

BluebellGal · 01/02/2018 20:11

teta I’d be very keen to swap for a sample of Bois de lles- it’s not possible to sample Exclusifs where I live. What would you like? I’ve quite a large range of samples and some FBs to choose from

Judydreamsofhorses · 01/02/2018 20:27

SOTD is MMM Fireplace.

bluebell no! I do have a card for a missed delivery, so that may be it - or may be a cleanser from Cult Beauty...

CountFosco · 01/02/2018 20:55

I've got a card for a missed delivery as well. Fingers crossed it's perfume!

Calmwhoknows · 01/02/2018 22:19

This morning I wore Annick Goutal’s Vent de Folie (thank you, Bluebell, for the sample 💐). This has a glorious opening, with a spicy geranium flower, raspberry and blackcurrant, lasting for an hour or two before fading away to a very faint fruity musk. I’ve put it away to try again in warmer weather, hoping the longevity will be better.

Later on I wore Jean Patou’s Sira des Indes. This is a sweet banana and champaca flower perfume, with a creamy, musky sandalwood/vanilla drydown. (The banana smell is distinctive but not strong.) Nowadays I like it very much but it took me a few tries before I got used to the slight whiff of baby poo in the first few minutes! I don’t have anything else like it and it’s really grown on me.

MrsGruber, a few posts ago you were speculating about Chanel introducing smaller sizes of their Exclusifs ranges. Having finally decided to spend a huge amount of money on the smallest bottle of Feve Delicieuse at Heathrow Airport, the salesman wasn’t able to sell it to me because I was going to Australia. Australia will only allow bottles of up to 100 mls through Customs and Chanel’s smallest bottle was 125 mls! The salesman said he thought they were going to introduce a smaller size during 2018, but thought it would probably be 75mls.

Ollivander84 · 01/02/2018 22:24

I've ordered two le labo samples Blush

MrsGruber · 01/02/2018 22:43

Hi Floof - hope you are OK? I've pm'd you.

MrsGruber · 02/02/2018 00:42

That still sounds quite big Calm!

Just spotted the 4160s 2018 mods have now been released in 9ml bottles (£12.50)...RUN!

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 02/02/2018 02:06

They definitely had 75ml bottles of Les Exclusifs available on their website a week or so ago but - strangely - if I look now, the page that lists them has links saying "from £140", which was the 75ml price but when you click through it's the 200ml version (definitely not £140!) and I can't see an option to change size. Odd!!

I wonder if it's the mobile site playing up?

BluebellGal · 02/02/2018 07:51

Thanks mrsgruber I caved and purchased amberama, rude not to at that price for perfume extrait. It sounds lovely- hope I like it

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 02/02/2018 08:12

Just checked on "proper" computer and 75ml definitely available for £140.

SoFancy · 02/02/2018 09:43

Morning fragrant ones.

I’m off work today and feeling ropey.

SOTD is one of my go-to comfort blankets, Guerlain L’Instant Magic. Powdery vanilla and my granny’s lipstick. Perfect for snuggling up!

BluebellGal · 02/02/2018 10:06

SOTD is 4160 Sexiest Scent on the Planet. Apparently THE Lorraine likes it (given as a gift by naughty boy the music producer). It’s pretty scrummy

BluebellGal · 02/02/2018 10:07

Get well soon sofancy that sounds like a good choice but don’t know it myself

mrsreynolds · 02/02/2018 10:08

Who is THE Lorraine?
[Clueless]

mrsreynolds · 02/02/2018 10:12

Sexiest scent is indeed scrummy 😁
Sotd PP opium

SoFancy · 02/02/2018 10:17

Sexiest Scent is gorgeous.

Lorraine Kelly ?! Grin

The original L’Instant is one of my Guerlain bummers. Nauseating. But Magic is lovely. I never wear it out, though. Strictly for mooching at home. It really does remind me of my granny (who in reality smelt of lipstick, face powder, Ponds cream and Eau de Benson & Hedges Grin...bit it’s that vibe)

mrsreynolds · 02/02/2018 10:18

Yep...l'instant a pink minger for me 😣

SoFancy · 02/02/2018 10:22

I tried L’Instant in an airport shop once and it is one of the few perfumes I have ever encountered that genuinely made me want to throw up. I scrubbed it off in the loo, but kept getting wafts of it on my flight and felt so sick.

Guerlain Idylle is another one.

I really wanted to like them, too.

I think magnolia is a bum note for me.

mrsreynolds · 02/02/2018 11:18

I felt the same.
Total scrubber

BluebellGal · 02/02/2018 11:36

Yes Lorraine Kelly... struggling to think of another famous Lorraine actually! There was a clip on 4160 closed FB group

BluebellGal · 02/02/2018 11:37

Quick! Buy up all the 4160 before they become massively popular and the price doubles!

Frankiewears · 02/02/2018 12:56

Charlie Gold today as a first. I read some reviews and looked at the basenotes and it seemed to be my kind of perfume as it was described as spicy and warm.

First impressions are it is initially more floral than reviews suggest but it it is drying down into a nice powdery amber smell now. Not offensive and a good daytime one for £4.

I usually like Sikkim Girls, Mitsouko, Chanel No 5, Perris Ambergris, Midnight Poison and Caleche to give you an idea of my ‘nose’. 😀
