I've recently replaced all of my make up and have made the switch from high end to cheaper brands I used to buy lancome, Clinique, ysl, dior, mac, benefit and urban decay however when everything needed replacing I didn't feel I could justify 400 pounds plus so now switched to a couple of cheaper brands

The best switches I've made are

Elf primer instead of soft box saving 20.00

Make up revolution eyeshadow pallet instead of urban decay naked pallet saving 33.00

I literally can not tell the difference between high end and cheap and cheerful so what are your best dupes/switches?

Hello, this thread is a little old and the links are out of date. Take a look at this handy page for a round-up of Mumsnetters' favourite beauty dupes.

Damn I've just bought a No 7 mascara but it was on 'buy 2 for a free gift' and the colour match lipstick that came for free lasts really well. Moisture drench I think it's called.

Will def check out that cheap Primark mascara though and let my teen DDs know!

Have just been on Perfume parlour. had never seen it. They have a version of my beloved but discontinued Gucci Envy!!! Thanks for the mention. Sadly they don't have a Stella L.I.L.Y. Sad
Why do all my fave smells get discontinued???

BobLoblawLawBlog · 18/02/2018 11:19

Be wary of the perfume parlour Stella- is awful ☹️ Was very disappointed. Also the Pomegranate Noir one they do is very very TCP medicinal on me.

MsHarry · 18/02/2018 11:21

I've ordered the Gucci Envy copy. Has good reviews and also the CK Apple copy for my DD who was Shock at the prices of perfume(she's 17)

MsHarry · 18/02/2018 11:37

DKNY not CK.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 18/02/2018 11:39

I have loooked at the ordinary foundation, never used though. Did the colour maintain throughout day

BobLoblawLawBlog · 18/02/2018 11:40

msharry if you do find a dupe/something v similar to LILY please let me know. I love Stella perfumes in general to be honest, just find the longevity is terrible. Stella original is my absolute favourite, but after two hours I find it has totally disappeared on my skin!

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 18/02/2018 11:43

I don’t highlight or strobe,I think it looks ghastly.too false and metallic-y
It’s not a good look. Instead of enhancing I think it’s aging.I like an more natural look
I think KUWTK/KKW looks they look like a drag queen, make up applied with a trowel

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 18/02/2018 12:08

has anyone tried pocket scents?

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 18/02/2018 15:09

IT did Lipstick. I was pretty chuffed and it left my skin lovely and soft. Found doublewear needs heavy duty cleanser.

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 21/02/2018 00:35

I am SO glad I saw this thread.

Make up dupes I need to investigate but perfume parlour.
I've just placed an order.

My favourite ever perfume new West by aramis was discontinued years ago. They have a dupe. I am beyond excited about this news Grin

Womanity is there too which is a relief as that was another one of my favourites discontinued.

UnmitigatedBollocks · 21/02/2018 00:41

Sleek rose gold blusher is very similar to Nars Orgasm.

OlennasWimple · 21/02/2018 02:59

The Lidl perfume called something like Madame Glamour is a great substitute for Coco Chanel Mademoiselle

MsHarry · 21/02/2018 13:12

Just received my Gucci Envy dupe from perfume parlour:
It’s sooooo good. Thanks for putting me on to that site. Going to order more now!

MsHarry · 21/02/2018 14:12

I read that Primark do a copy of Pomegranate Noir

Kaz2200 · 21/02/2018 15:21

I agree with poster regarding The Ordinary serum foundation, it is fantastic, also is it only me that thinks the Lidl perfume smells nothing like Chanel Madamoiselle

horriblefeelingaboutthis · 21/02/2018 21:51

Wow, love this thread.. there goes my bank balance Grin

Ivory200 · 22/02/2018 09:39

Could any Perfume Parlour expert please advise me? I've ordered and loved several of their scents, but would love to find duplicates for Chanel Allure and Chance. No amount of trying odd spelling has found anything! Help please??

MsHarry · 22/02/2018 12:33

Hi I asked the same question yesterday on a separate thread. I did a bit of digging on the site and think I found some under the names: Perfect, Clear, Delicacy and Spike. Read the reviews and check what notes are I your scent to see if you can work out which is the one you want. I think Clear is Cristalle

MsHarry · 22/02/2018 13:02

Try ‘adoring’ too.

Ivory200 · 22/02/2018 15:28

Thank you very much! Off to google notes in Chanel fragrances Smile

MsHarry · 22/02/2018 16:49

BTW I also emailed Perfume Parlour and they have replied saying they 'have had to remove those brand fragrances from their website' so not sure if they means they will no longer manufacture them when stocks run out or if they are just not referring to the similarity by name anymore.

MsHarry · 22/02/2018 16:51

www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Chanel/Allure-502.html

This site is good for giving you all the notes in perfumes and telling you the difference between parfum and EDT as I hadn't realised they are sometimes different, I just thought perfume was stronger! Confused

BigEthel · 22/02/2018 17:27

Love this thread!

Fragrancedirect.co.uk often have great bargains on ends of line etc too.

Anyone know any good powder dupes? My old skin doesn't want to look like Barbara Cartland.

Ivory200 · 22/02/2018 18:58

I love it too! Thanks for all the help!
Off now to Fragrantica, every day I learn something newSmile
